Bei dieser Krankheit kommt es zu einer Degeneration von Nervenzellen, wodurch die Funktionalität der von ihnen versorgten Muskeln beeinträchtigt wird. Die Ursache ist unbekannt.
Sehr selten: Weniger als 20.000 Fälle in den USA pro Jahr
