Abstract
A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement includes a housing (12), a lid (14) removable from the housing (12), a rotatable handle (26) extending through the lid (14), and mixing paddles (34, 36) that rotate in response to rotation of the handle (26).
Claims (116)
1. A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising:
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating opposite said portion such that said second mixing paddle rotates in a second rotational direction, opposite said first rotational direction, when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating opposite said portion such that said second mixing paddle rotates in a second rotational direction, opposite said first rotational direction, when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
2. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said portion of said handle is rotatable in said second rotational direction and said first mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said portion such that said first mixing paddle is also rotatable in said second rotational direction that is opposite said first rotational direction.
3. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 2 wherein said second mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle are rotating in said second rotational direction.
4. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first mixing paddle is rotatable about a first fixed axis of rotation and said second mixing paddle is rotatable about a second fixed axis of rotation that is different from said first fixed axis of rotation.
5. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 4 wherein said first and second fixed axes of rotation remain fixed throughout rotation of said first and second mixing paddles.
6. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 4 further comprising a depression defined within said housing and aligned with said first fixed axis of rotation for receiving at least a portion of said first mixing paddle.
7. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 6 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle and said second end is opposite said first end and is disposed in said depression for maintaining said first fixed axis of rotation and for stabilizing said first mixing paddle during rotation.

A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles for operatively coupling said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates opposite said portion in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.

A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 8 wherein said gear set includes a first gear associated with said first mixing paddle and a second gear associated with said second mixing paddle, with said first gear mating with said second gear to rotate said second mixing paddle in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
10. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 9 wherein a gear ratio of said first gear to said second gear is 2:1.
11. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 9 wherein said first and second gears are further defined as spur gears.
12. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a first sleeve defined within and extending entirely through said lid for supporting said portion of said handle.
13. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 12 wherein said portion of said handle extends through said first sleeve to extend through said lid.
14. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 13 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle extending through said first sleeve and said second end is adjacent said housing opposite said first end.
15. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 14 further comprising an annular flange disposed about said first mixing paddle at said first end.
16. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 15 further comprising at least one hole defined within said annular flange with said portion of said handle extending into said at least one hole to operatively couple said first mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
17. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 16 wherein said at least one hole is further defined as first and second holes defined with said annular flange wherein said first hole is defined within said annular flange 180° apart from said second hole.

A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 17 wherein said portion of said handle includes a first set of tabs extending away from said handle with one of said tabs extending into said first hole to engage said annular flange at said first hole and the other of said tabs extending into said second hole to engage said annular flange at said second hole for operatively coupling said first mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
19. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 15 further comprising a post at said first end of said first mixing paddle extending from said annular flange.
20. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 19 wherein said portion of said handle includes a socket extending away from said handle to receive said post of said first mixing paddle for operatively coupling said first mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
21. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 20 wherein said post of said first mixing paddle and said socket of said portion of said handle are rectangular.
22. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 20 wherein said portion of said handle further includes a centering post disposed within said socket.
23. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 22 further comprising a first resilient member disposed about said centering post, within said socket, and between said portion of said handle and said first end of said first mixing paddle for biasing said first mixing paddle.
24. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first mixing paddle rotates in a 1:1 ratio with said portion of said handle.
25. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 15 further comprising a second sleeve at least partially spaced from said first sleeve and extending from said lid for supporting said second mixing paddle.
26. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 25 wherein said second mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end of said second mixing paddle is adjacent said lid and is disposed within said second sleeve and said second end of said second mixing paddle is adjacent said housing opposite said first end of said second mixing paddle.
27. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 26 further comprising a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles for operatively coupling said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates opposite said portion in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
28. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 27 wherein said gear set includes a first gear supported on said annular flange of said first mixing paddle and a second gear disposed at said first end of said second mixing paddle, with said first gear mating with said second gear to rotate said second mixing paddle in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
29. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 28 wherein said second gear of said second mixing paddle is recessed into said second sleeve.
30. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 29 wherein said annular flange of said first mixing paddle at least partially overlaps said second gear of said second mixing paddle to automatically retain said second mixing paddle in said second sleeve.
31. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 25 further comprising a second resilient member disposed within said second sleeve between said lid and said first end of said second mixing paddle for biasing said second mixing paddle.
32. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a plurality of vanes for mixing the bone cement.
33. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 32 wherein said vanes are concave.
34. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 32 wherein said plurality of vanes includes a first vane and a second vane, with said first vane in contact with said interior wall for scraping the bone cement and with said second vane spaced from said interior wall for spreading the bone cement.
35. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 32 wherein said vanes of said first mixing paddle rotate beneath and around said second mixing paddle.
36. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said housing includes a base for providing additional support to said housing.
37. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 wherein said housing is further defined as a bowl.
38. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a vacuum port defined within said lid.
39. A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising:
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing and movable between an open position where the bone cement can be added to said housing and a sealed position where said lid is hermetically sealed to said housing to define a sealed mixing chamber between said lid and said interior wall of said housing for mixing the bone cement;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable about said lid for mixing the bone cement;
a mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion wherein said mixing paddle is movable between an extended position when said lid is in said open position and a retracted position where said mixing paddle is adapted to scrape the bone cement from said interior wall when said lid is in said sealed position; and a resilient member disposed between said portion and said mixing paddle, said resilient member normally-biasing said mixing paddle into said extended position and said resilient member compressing in response to contact between said mixing paddle and said interior wall as said lid is moved from said open position to said sealed position thereby permitting said mixing paddle to retract into said retracted position such that said lid can be hermetically sealed to said housing in said sealed position, yet said mixing paddle can still scrape the bone cement from said interior wall.
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing and movable between an open position where the bone cement can be added to said housing and a sealed position where said lid is hermetically sealed to said housing to define a sealed mixing chamber between said lid and said interior wall of said housing for mixing the bone cement;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable about said lid for mixing the bone cement;
a mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion wherein said mixing paddle is movable between an extended position when said lid is in said open position and a retracted position where said mixing paddle is adapted to scrape the bone cement from said interior wall when said lid is in said sealed position; and a resilient member disposed between said portion and said mixing paddle, said resilient member normally-biasing said mixing paddle into said extended position and said resilient member compressing in response to contact between said mixing paddle and said interior wall as said lid is moved from said open position to said sealed position thereby permitting said mixing paddle to retract into said retracted position such that said lid can be hermetically sealed to said housing in said sealed position, yet said mixing paddle can still scrape the bone cement from said interior wall.
40. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle and said second end is adjacent said housing opposite said first end.
41. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 40 further comprising an annular flange disposed about said mixing paddle at said first end.
42. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 41 further comprising at least one hole defined within said annular flange with said portion of said handle extending into said at least one hole to operatively couple said mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
43. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 42 wherein said at least one hole is further defined as first and second holes defined with said annular flange wherein said first hole is defined within said annular flange 180° apart from said second hole.
44. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 43 wherein said portion of said handle includes a first set of tabs extending away from said handle with one of said tabs extending into said first hole to engage said annular flange at said first hole and the other of said tabs extending into said second hole to engage said annular flange at said second hole for operatively coupling said first mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
45. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 further comprising a sleeve defined within and extending entirely through said lid for supporting said portion of said handle.
46. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 45 wherein said portion of said handle extends through said sleeve to extend through said lid.
47. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 46 wherein said mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle extending through said sleeve and said second end is adjacent said housing opposite said first end.
48. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 47 further comprising an annular flange disposed about said mixing paddle at said first end.
49. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 48 further comprising at least one hole defined within said annular flange with said portion of said handle extending into said at least one hole to operatively couple said mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
50. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 49 wherein said at least one hole is further defined as first and second holes defined with said annular flange wherein said first hole is defined within said annular flange 180° apart from said second hole.
51. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 50 wherein said portion of said handle includes a first set of tabs extending away from said handle with one of said tabs engaging said first hole of said annular flange and the other of said tabs engaging said second hole of said annular flange for operatively coupling said mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
52. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 47 further comprising a post at said first end of said mixing paddle extending from said annular flange.
53. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 52 wherein said portion of said handle includes a socket extending away from said handle to receive said post of said mixing paddle for operatively coupling said mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
54. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 53 wherein said post of said mixing paddle and said socket of said portion of said handle are rectangular.
55. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 53 wherein said portion of said handle further includes a centering post disposed within said socket.
56. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 55 wherein said resilient member is disposed about said centering post, within said socket, and between said portion of said handle and said first end of said mixing paddle.
57. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 40 further comprising a post extending from said first end of said mixing paddle away from said second end.
58. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 57 wherein said portion of said handle includes a socket extending away from said handle to receive said post of said mixing paddle for operatively coupling said mixing paddle to said portion of said handle.
59. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 58 wherein said post of said mixing paddle and said socket of said portion of said handle are rectangular.
60. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 58 wherein said portion of said handle further includes a centering post disposed within said socket.
61. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 60 wherein said resilient member is disposed about said centering post, within said socket, and between said portion of said handle and said first end of said mixing paddle.
62. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 40 wherein said mixing paddle is rotatable about a fixed axis of rotation.
63. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 62 further comprising a depression defined within said housing and aligned with said fixed axis of rotation for receiving said second end of said mixing paddle for maintaining said fixed axis of rotation and for stabilizing said mixing paddle during rotation.
64. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said housing includes a base for providing additional support to said housing.
65. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said housing includes a rim and said lid mates with said rim upon moving from said open position to said sealed position to hermetically seal said lid to said housing.
66. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 65 further comprising a compression sealing member disposed between said lid and said rim.
67. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 65 further comprising a plurality of tabs disposed about said lid and a plurality of locking ramps disposed about said rim of said housing, wherein said tabs of said lid engage said ramps of said housing upon movement of said lid from said open position to said sealed position.
68. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said mixing paddle includes a plurality of vanes for mixing the bone cement.
69. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 68 wherein said vanes are concave.
70. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 68 wherein said plurality of vanes includes a first vane and a second vane, with said first vane in contact with said interior wall for scraping the bone cement and with said second vane spaced from said interior wall for spreading the bone cement.
71. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 wherein said resilient member is further defined as a compression spring.
72. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 39 further comprising a vacuum port defined within said lid.
73. A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising:
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle and having a first fixed axis of rotation, said first mixing paddle rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction about said first fixed axis of rotation;
a second mixing paddle having a second fixed axis of rotation that is different from said first fixed axis of rotation of said first mixing paddle; and a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles to operatively couple said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates opposite said portion in a second rotational direction, opposite said first rotational direction, and about said second fixed axis of rotation when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle and having a first fixed axis of rotation, said first mixing paddle rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction about said first fixed axis of rotation;
a second mixing paddle having a second fixed axis of rotation that is different from said first fixed axis of rotation of said first mixing paddle; and a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles to operatively couple said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates opposite said portion in a second rotational direction, opposite said first rotational direction, and about said second fixed axis of rotation when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
74. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 73 wherein said gear set includes a first gear associated with said first mixing paddle and a second gear associated with said second mixing paddle, with said first gear mating with said second gear to rotate said second mixing paddle in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction.
75. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 74 wherein a gear ratio of said first gear to said second gear is 2:1.
76. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 74 wherein said first and second gears are further defined as spur gears.
77. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 73 wherein said portion of said handle is rotatable in said second rotational direction and said first mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said portion such that said first mixing paddle is also rotatable in said second rotational direction that is opposite said first rotational direction.
78. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 77 wherein said second mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle via said gear set such that said second mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle are rotating in said second rotational direction.
79. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 73 wherein said first mixing paddle is rotatable about a first fixed axis of rotation and said second mixing paddle is rotatable about a second fixed axis of rotation that is different from said first fixed axis of rotation.
80. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 79 wherein said first and second fixed axes of rotation remain fixed throughout rotation of said first and second mixing paddles.
81. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 74 further comprising a first sleeve defined within and extending entirely through said lid for supporting said portion of said handle.
82. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 81 wherein said portion of said handle extends through said first sleeve to extend through said lid.
83 A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 82 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle extending through said first sleeve and said second end is adjacent said housing opposite said first end.
84. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 83 further comprising an annular flange disposed about said first mixing paddle at said first end.
85. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 84 further comprising a second sleeve at least partially spaced from said first sleeve and extending from said lid for supporting said second mixing paddle.
86. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 85 wherein said second mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end of said second mixing paddle is adjacent said lid and is disposed within said second sleeve and said second end of said second mixing paddle is adjacent said housing opposite said first end of said second mixing paddle.
87. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 86 wherein said first gear is supported on said annular flange of said first mixing paddle and said second gear is disposed at said first end of said second mixing paddle.
88. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 87 wherein said second gear of said second mixing paddle is recessed into said second sleeve.
89. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 88 wherein said annular flange of said first mixing paddle at least partially overlaps said second gear of said second mixing paddle to automatically retain said second mixing paddle in said second sleeve.
90. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 73 wherein said first mixing paddle rotates beneath and around said second mixing paddle.
91. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 73 further comprising a vacuum port defined within said lid.
92. A mixing assembly as for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising:
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating with said portion and said first mixing paddle in said first rotational direction.
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating with said portion and said first mixing paddle in said first rotational direction.
93. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 92 wherein said portion of said handle is rotatable in a second rotational direction that is opposite said first rotational direction and said first mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said portion such that said first mixing paddle is also rotatable in said second rotational direction.
94. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 93 wherein said second mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle are rotating in said second rotational direction.
95. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 92 wherein said first mixing paddle is rotatable about a first fixed axis of rotation and said second mixing paddle is rotatable about a second fixed axis of rotation that is different from said first fixed axis of rotation.
96. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 95 wherein said first and second fixed axes of rotation remain fixed throughout rotation of said first and second mixing paddles.
97. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 95 further comprising a depression defined within said housing and aligned with said first fixed axis of rotation for receiving at least a portion of said first mixing paddle.
98. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 97 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a first end and a second end wherein said first end is adjacent said lid and is operatively coupled to said portion of said handle and said second end is opposite said first end and is disposed in said depression for maintaining said first fixed axis of rotation and for stabilizing said first mixing paddle during rotation.
99. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 92 further comprising a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles for operatively coupling said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction.
100. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 99 wherein said gear set includes a first gear associated with said first mixing paddle, a second gear associated with said second mixing paddle, and a third gear disposed between said first and second gears to enable said portion of said handle and said first and second mixing paddles to rotate in said first rotational direction.
101. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 100 wherein said first gear, said second gear, and said third gear are further defined as spur gears.
102. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 92 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a plurality of vanes for mixing the bone cement.
103. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 102 wherein said vanes are concave.
104. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 102 wherein said plurality of vanes includes a first vane and a second vane, with said first vane in contact with said interior wall for scraping the bone cement and with said second vane spaced from said interior wall for spreading the bone cement.
105. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 102 wherein said vanes of said first mixing paddle rotate beneath and around said second mixing paddle.
106. A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising a housing having at least one interior wall, a lid removably attachable to said housing, and first and second mixing paddles supported by at least one of said housing and said lid for mixing the bone cement, said first and second mixing paddles being at least partially spaced from one another, with said first mixing paddle being rotatable in a first rotational direction about a first fixed axis of rotation and said second mixing paddle being operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle is rotatable in a second rotational direction, that is opposite said first rotational direction, about a second fixed axis of rotation.
107. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 106 wherein said first mixing paddle is rotatable in said second rotational direction and said second mixing paddle is operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction when said first mixing paddle rotates in said second rotational direction.
108. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 106 further comprising a gear set disposed between said first and second mixing paddles for operatively coupling said second mixing paddle to said first mixing paddle such that said second mixing paddle rotates opposite said first mixing paddle in said second rotational direction when said first mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction.
109. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 108 wherein said gear set includes a first gear associated with said first mixing paddle and a second gear associated with said second mixing paddle, with said first gear mating with said second gear to rotate said second mixing paddle in said second rotational direction when said first mixing paddle rotates in said first rotational direction.
110. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 109 wherein a gear ratio of said first gear to said second gear is 2:1.
111. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 109 wherein said first and second gears are further defined as spur gears.
112. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 106 wherein said first mixing paddle includes a plurality of vanes for mixing the bone cement.
113. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 112 wherein said vanes are concave.
114. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 112 wherein said plurality of vanes includes a first vane and a second vane, with said first vane in contact with said interior wall for scraping the bone cement and with said second vane spaced from said interior wall for spreading the bone cement.
115. A mixing assembly as set forth in claim 112 wherein said vanes of said first mixing paddle rotate beneath and around said second mixing paddle.
116. A mixing assembly for mixing bone cement, said mixing assembly comprising:
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction and in a second rotational direction that is opposite said first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction and in said second rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating opposite said portion such that said second mixing paddle rotates;
in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction, and in said first rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle are rotating in said second rotational direction.
a housing having at least one interior wall;
a lid removably attachable to said housing;
a handle having a portion extending through said lid and being rotatable in a first rotational direction and in a second rotational direction that is opposite said first rotational direction;
a first mixing paddle operatively coupled to said portion of said handle for rotating with said portion in said first rotational direction and in said second rotational direction; and a second mixing paddle operatively coupled to said first mixing paddle for rotating opposite said portion such that said second mixing paddle rotates;
in said second rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle rotate in said first rotational direction, and in said first rotational direction when said portion and said first mixing paddle are rotating in said second rotational direction.
