技术领域
本发明涉及一种控制媒体播放器的方法和装置,特别地,涉及一种基于用户活动的自动控制媒体播放器的方法和装置。
背景技术
消费者市场提供了各种各样的电子设备,例如电视、立体声系统和个人计算机,并提供不断增多的特征来提升这些设备的方便程度和性能。例如,许多娱乐设备有一个相关的遥控装置,允许用户遥控地调整该设备的许多设置。比方说,一个用户能够使用遥控以一种公知的方式来调整节目频道、音量和电视机的其它设置。
当遥控和其它附加特征大大提高了这些娱乐设备的方便程度的同时,它们仍然需要用户通过一定操作来使用遥控(或者与该设备相关的其它输入装置)指示以何种方式调整特定的设备设置。因此,假如不能方便地进行遥控,或者用户不愿走近设备本身,用户就可能仍不能够以一种希望的方式方便地调整一个或多个设置。
据观察,在一定的用户活动和一种相应的调整电子设备设置的方式之间,经常存在一种可预知的联系。例如,一个用户看电视时电话响了,该用户的反应经常是手动调整电视音量或激活静音设置。然而,目前还没有装置向电子设备提供一个针对这种用户活动的指示。因此媒体播放器控制器存在一种需要,就是监测用户活动并响应预定事件自动调整媒体播放器。一个媒体播放器控制器还需要使用一个规则库来定义用户活动或事件,以及执行相应操作来调整设备设置。
发明内容
一般地说,本发明公开了一种方法和装置,用于监测用户活动并响应预定事件自动控制一个媒体播放器。公开的媒体播放器控制器包括针对一个或多个用户的一个或多个声音/图像捕获装置。媒体播放器控制器处理得到的音频和视频信息来识别一个或多个预定事件。
根据本发明的一个方面,若干规则定义了不同的用户活动或事件,例如用户已离开房间、正在打电话,或者其它没把注意力集中在媒体播放器上的事情。每个规则包含一个或多个条件,并且,可选择地,当满足该规则时执行一个相应的操作项来调整媒体播放器的一个或多个设置。检测一个预定事件,如果存在相应操作,则由媒体播放器控制器执行。
本发明提出一种控制媒体播放器的方法,包括:分析针对一个用户的音频和视频信息中的至少一个,来识别至少一个预定的用户活动;和当所述用户活动被识别时,执行一个预定的操作项来自动调整所述媒体播放器;其特征在于,进一步包括:使用一个用户简表来存储多个用户首选项;使用一个事件规则数据库,来建立定义该预定的用户活动的至少一个规则,其中所述规则包含至少一个条件以及当所述规则被满足时执行自动调整所述媒体播放器的操作项;和其中分析音频和视频信息中的至少一个是针对一个用户以识别所述用户简表和所述条件。
本发明也提出一个控制媒体播放器的系统,包括:一个存储器,用于存储计算机可读代码;和一个处理器,可操作地连接到所述存储器,所述处理器被配置为:可分析针对一个用户的音频和视频信息中的至少一个,从而识别至少一个预定的用户活动;和当所述用户活动被识别时,执行一个预定的操作项来自动调整所述媒体播放器;其特征在于,处理器包括:连接到该处理器的用户简表部分,用于含有存储多个用户首选项的用户简表;连接到该处理器的事件规则数据库部分,用于含有事件规则数据库,来建立至少一个定义预定该用户活动的规则,其中所述规则包含至少一个条件以及当所述规则被满足时执行自动调整所述媒体播放器的操作项;和其中该处理器连接到用户事件监测处理部分:来利用所述用户简表和所述事件规则数据库,并且来针对一个用户分析音频和视频信息中的至少一个以识别所述用户简表和所述条件。

具体实施方式
图1是根据本发明的一个媒体播放器控制器100。如图1所示,媒体播放器控制器100包括一个或多个声音/图像捕获装置150-1至150-N(在下文中,共同引用为声音/图像捕获装置150),该装置针对媒体播放器160的一个或多个用户140。
每个声音/图像捕获装置150都可以被具体化,例如:是一个固定的或摇移-俯仰移动-变焦(PTZ)的摄像机,用于捕获图像或视频信息,或者是一个或多个麦克风,用于捕获音频信息(或者同时包含上述两种捕获装置)。媒体播放器控制器100以一种下文中将参照图4讨论的方式处理由声音/图像捕获装置150产生的音频和视频信息,来识别一个或多个预定的用户活动或事件。在一种实施方式中,本发明使用一个用户简表200和事件规则数据库300分别记录了若干用户首选项和规则,这将在下文中参照图2和图3作进一步讨论。这些规则定义的不同事件将启动媒体播放器160的一种或多种设置的调整。

如同下文将进一步论述的,每个规则包含一个或多个必须顺次满足的条件,用于启动该规则,可选择地,还包含一个相应的操作项,当用于启动该规则的预定条件被满足时,媒体播放器控制器100将执行该操作项来调整媒体播放器160的一个或多个设置。根据本发明,每个规则中至少有一个条件是在音频或视频信息中被检测的条件,所述信息由基于声音或图像技术的声音/图像捕获装置150产生。
依据对一种预设的用户活动或事件的检测,如果有相应操作的话,就由媒体播放器控制器100执行。典型地,所述相应操作就是向媒体播放器160发出命令来调整一个或多个设置。举例说明,该命令包括静音,记录,音量调节,改变节目频道,电源节省模式和播放暂停。
如同下文参照图2和3进一步论述的,用户简表200和事件规则数据库300中记录的用户首选项和规则可以包括一个或多个依赖于外部信息的条件,例如来自一个可选的电子节目指南130或主叫用户标识装置170的信息。举例说明,响应一个特定的用户活动,由媒体播放器控制器100执行的相应操作项可以随电子节目指南130中显示的节目特点而定。类似地,响应于媒体播放器控制器100检测到电话铃响,由媒体播放器控制器100执行的相应操作项可以随主叫用户标识装置170中显示的主叫用户的标识而定。
如图1所示,并将在下文中参照图4所进一步论述的,媒体播放器控制器100还包含一个用户事件监测处理400。通常,用户事件监测处理400处理由声音/图像捕获装置150获得的音频信息或图像,并检测在事件规则数据库300中定义的一个或多个事件。
媒体播放器控制器100可以具体化为任意一种数据处理装置,例如一台个人计算机或者工作站,它包括一个处理器120例如中央处理单元(CPU),和一个存储器110例如随机存取存储器(RAM)和/或只读存储器(ROM)。可选择地,媒体播放器控制器100还可以具体化为一个专用集成电路(ASIC)(图中未示出),它被包括在例如电视机、机顶终端或其它电子设备中。
图2是用户简表200的一个示范表格,它记录了每个用户的不同首选项。如图2所示,用户简表200由多条记录组成,例如第205-208条记录,每条记录与一个不同的用户相关。对于每个用户,用户简表200在区域250中对该用户进行标识,如果存在相应首选项的话,则在区域260中进行标识。
例如,记录205中用户John Smith的用户首选项表明,该用户希望在电话铃响时让媒体播放器160暂停,除非该电话来自一个特定的电话号码,这时就降低媒体播放器160的音量。同样地,记录206中用户Jane Smith的用户首选项表明,该用户希望在电话铃响时降低媒体播放器160的音量,除非当前选择的节目是一个top-5节目,这时就向媒体播放器160发送一个记录命令。因此,记录205中的首选项是由来自主叫用户标识装置170的信息决定的,记录206中的首选项是由来自电子节目指南130的信息决定的。
通常,用户简表200中记录的用户首选项可以由调查答复中直接获得,也可以通过监测一个特定用户对于一个特定情景的反应来间接获得。据此,可以形成一个规则,它定义了特定的情景和将被执行的相应操作。
图3是事件规则数据库300的示范表格,它记录了定义不同用户活动或事件的各个规则。事件规则数据库300中的每个规则包括预定条件,它规定了启动该规则的条件,并且,可选择地,还包括一个相应的操作项,当满足了该规则的相关条件时,该操作项被启动。典型地,当启动该规则时,定义了媒体播放器160的一个或多个设置调整的操作项将被执行。
如图3所示,示范性的事件规则数据库300包含多条记录,例如记录305-311,每条记录与一个不同的规则相关。对于每个规则,事件规则数据库300在区域350中标识该规则的条件,如果存在相应操作项的话,则在区域360中进行标识。例如,记录306中记录的规则是一个响应用户在房间外逗留(或远离媒体播放器160)的事件。如区域350中显示的,当用户在房间外逗留了一个预定的最小时间间隔时,记录306中的规则被启动。如区域360中显示的,相应的操作是发送一个命令将媒体播放器160置于一个电源节省模式。
图4是一个流程图,描述了一个示范性的用户事件监测处理400。用户事件监测处理400处理由声音/图像捕获装置150获得的音频或视频信息(或者两者皆有),并检测在事件规则数据库300中定义的一个或多个事件。示范性的用户事件监测处理400是一个体现了本发明主要思想的概括性过程。如图4所示,用户事件监测处理400一开始在步骤405从声音/图像捕获装置150获得一个或多个输入。然后,用户事件监测处理400在步骤410对当前用户任选地进行识别,例如,使用由声音/图像捕获装置150获得的声音或图像信息的生物估计。当媒体播放器控制器100允许用户简表200中列出的特殊用户媒体首选项可控制事件规则数据库300中列出的普通规则时,用户标识显得格外有用。

在进一步的变化中,根据本发明记录的特定节目的存储表可以由下列方式决定,例如,由一个用户赋予该节目的重要程度值决定,或者由一个节目推荐者赋予该节目的推荐分值决定。
一个“计算机程序”可以理解为任何一种软件产品,比如存储在计算机可读介质,例如软盘上的,可以通过网络,例如因特网下载的,或者由其他任何一种销售方式得到的。
应该理解的是,在此显示和描述的具体实施例和变化仅仅是对本发明原理的示例性说明,本领域的熟练技术人员可以对其进行各种修改而不脱离本发明的范围和精神。

Claims (8)

1. 一种控制媒体播放器(160)的方法,包括:
分析针对一个用户(140)的音频和视频信息(150)中的至少一个,来识别至少一个预定的用户活动;和
当所述用户活动被识别时,执行一个预定的操作项(360)来自动调整所述媒体播放器(160);
其特征在于,进一步包括:
使用一个用户简表来存储多个用户首选项;
使用一个事件规则数据库,来建立定义该预定的用户活动的至少一个规则(305-311),其中所述规则(305-311)包含至少一个条件(350)以及当所述规则(305-311)被满足时执行自动调整所述媒体播放器(160)的操作项(360);和
其中分析音频和视频信息中的至少一个是针对一个用户(140)以识别所述用户简表和所述条件(350)。
2. 如权利要求1的方法,其特征在于所述事件规则数据库包括外部资料,特别是所述外部资料为来自电子节目指南或主叫用户标识装置的信息。
