发明背景
在接下来的几年里,数字电视在美国将变成广播电视和电缆信号的基本标准。这将需要所有用户家庭购买新的数字电视机或允许旧型模拟电视将入局数字信号转换成模拟信号来观看的数字-模拟变换器系统。由于电缆信号如今是大多数电视内容的普遍提供者,所以用户还将必须购买或备有可设置在用户家里并悬挂在数字电视机上的数字机顶盒(set-top box),数字机顶盒将适于接收来自本机或区域电缆头端(headend)的入局数字信号,并转换或将它们去扰频成带有所需内容的信号以便由数字电视机广播。根据由政府和标准委员会规定的特殊标准建立数字机顶盒,而且它将改变计算功能。

MoreCast服务有三种类型:

将MoreManage发展成管理由MoreCom(本发明的拥有者)提供的万维网传播服务。MoreManage的三个主要功能包括:(1)管理MPEG-2资源分配(PID,带宽,等)用于由MoreGate服务器提供的服务;(2)收集和保持客户情况和用途,并与记帐、OSS(操作支持系统)和用户管理系统相连;和(3)将管理接口与管理MPEG编码器、IRT、Remux(重多路复用器)和调制器的系统控制器相连。
参照图2,示出提供上述参考功能的服务器环境的系统图。在服务器侧160,设有超文本传送协议(HTTP)代理服务170,它包括希望传送的特定应用180。设置应用节目接口(API)190,它与由服务器80执行的HTML/MPEG网关和节目库200连接。由高速MPEG输入/输出接口210输出内容。
在客户侧220,将应用输入到HTTP引擎230,在此,控制块240允许客户根据特殊协议260(例如,UDP和/或IP270)导航250。MPEG-2传送驱动器280和解码器290处理输入数字信号。
在网关服务器80中,MoreCast应用模块180是主模块,它控制何时将万维网数据广播到数字视频网中。它可通过HTTP代理模块执行HTML数据读取、把该数据转换成数字机顶盒可处理的格式、安排数据事件广播的时间表请求所需的网络资源并管理数据和控制接口。HTTP代理服务器负责根据MoreCast应用模块的请求从因特网读取万维网数据。在HTML/MPEG数据协议模块中将HTML数据映射到MPEG-2传送流上。最好在控制协议模块295中产生控制映射,用于单向广播服务的导航,信道链接。通过MPEG高速I/O(诸如,DVB ASI)将数据和控制发送到数字视频网。
在客户侧220,MoreCast应用模块180具有用户接口。它把请求发送到MoreCast客户引擎,它反过来与MoreCast数据协议和MoreCast控制协议相连。MoreCast数据协议将根据来自由MoreCast控制协议提取的控制映射的导航和信道信息,通过MPEG传送专用数据部分提取万维网数据。从控制数字机顶盒中的MPEG-2传送硬件的MPEG-2传送驱动器提取数据和控制信息。
为了在上述各种选项之间导航,最好提供浏览器和导航菜单。参照图3,最好示出导航层。用户可选择数字视频信道和可在电视屏幕上启动用户界面。将启动浏览器300,而且主菜单310将示出广播320、万维网330、视频340和邮件350,它们是一些较佳的选项。例如,选择广播320启动广播子菜单360。例如,这启动广播370、联播380或个人化390选项。选择广播370启动在410中启动对于公共HTML流1、2、3的导航页400。选择联播380启动导航页420,它转到与6MHZ信道相关的一系列数据信道,从而具有在430的多个HTML事件1,2用于观看。通过选择个人化390,用户将只选择与他的或她的机顶盒相关的MAC或IP地址匹配的信道。
在用户从菜单中选择所需的特定服务之后,提供来自数据信道的相关根信道导航页。例如,如果有线新闻网(CNN)确定支持联播服务,那么它将需要产生具有到所有起始页的URL440的CNN特定信道导航页,其中所有起始页都与构成联播服务的每个簇页(cluster page)相关。用户可转到与所选流有关的万维网内容,且在每个流中,用户可转到链接到所需页的每个URL。
假定通过MoreCast提供上述服务,用户可在任何给定时刻从上述服务之一,访问任何信息。可存在多种不同的导航模块。导航模块的设计目的在于对用户友好和基于标准万维网内容。
·菜单:这是与浏览器本身不同的导航菜单。菜单系统可识别用户想访问的MoreCast服务的类型:广播、联播和个人化,因为一个人每次不能访问多于一个服务。这是完全基于HTML的并为所有用户和信道共有。大约每月下载更新一次。
·内容:通过许多数据信道可观看三种服务的所有MoreCast内容。每个数据信道具有根页,它表示数据流表。每个数据流包括一组超链接网页。在联播的情况下,流变成具有起始时间和持续时间的事件。所有内容都是基于标准的HTML。可由内容提供者通过标准万维网授权工具产生所有内容
可在下列图片中解释导航层:
1.用户可选择一个数字视频信道,例如,CNN。可在屏幕上启动MoreCast服务用户接口。它将示出MoreCom浏览器按扭,诸如“MoreCast”“MoreWeb”和“MoreVideo”和“MoreMail”等等。
2.用户可在电视机上选择MoreCast服务按扭。这将带来用于MoreCast服务的本机菜单。它将示出MoreCast服务按扭,诸如“MoreCast广播”、“MoreCast Simulcast(联播)”“MoreCast Personalized(个人化)”。选择“MoreCast Simulcast”在观看CNN同时将进到与CNN相关的数据信道。只有一个数据信道与一个视频节目相关。在一个物理信道中存在多个联播数据信道。而且只有一个广播信道为每个6MHZ共享,它们不与视频节目相关。在一个物理信道中可存在多个个人化信道。
3.在用户在本机菜单上选择MoreCast服务类型之后,它将从数据信道中获得相关根信道导航页。例如,如果CNN确定支持MoreCast联播服务,那么它将需要产生CNN特定信道导航页,它具有到关于每个簇页(数据流或事件)的所有起始页的URL,其中每个簇页构成诸如CNNfn、CNNevent(关于每个商业)等等的服务。
4.现在,用户可转到关于所选流的万维网内容。用户可在任何时刻容易地回到流的起始或信道导航页。
5.在每个流内,用户可转到按照需要链接到网页的每个URL。
参照图4,可在MPEG-2传送流上以在该附图中定义的格式携带数据和控制信息。基本上,将HTML页(URLs)和它们的控制映射信息直接映射或者通过中间层(诸如UDP/IP)映射到MPEG-2传送流部分,然后封装在MPEG-2传送流部分中。多个部分形成表格。可将每个表格分开并由机顶解码器通过tableID和/或tableID_extension字段滤波。MPEG-2表结构分段并在MPEG-2传送数据包中携带。由解码器通过PID(packetID)滤波MPEG-2数据包。
图5示出根据本发明MPEG网络的HTML导航分级。产生HTML节目相关表450。这些表格识别在所选6MHZ内的传送流中的数据信道(节目)的列表。它们还识别数据信道的类型和视频节目的链接(如果有的话),并给出节目映射表的位置。节目映射表识别在每个数据信道内的数据流以及它们的类型和性能的列表,诸如UPR至MPEG资源映射,并给出信道导航页的位置。描述符(descriptor)给出在节目表内的每个流的细节。同时,产生HTML节目映射表460、HTML事件信息表470、HTML会话信息表480。例如,节目表460支持几个HTML流490和相关URL500。事件信息表470支持特定事件510和相关URL520。类似地,会话信息表480支持HTML流530以及相关URL540。该图描述在单项数据广播环境中,导航和信道链接所需的控制映射分级。
由在头端中的服务器产生控制映射,并通过数字广播网定期将它们发送到客户。最好将控制映射分成下列分级:
·HPAT:HTML节目相关表。该表识别在所选6MHZ内的该支持流中的数据信道(节目)表。它还识别数据信道和视频节目链接的类型,如果有的话。它还给出下述其他控制映射的位置。
·HPMT:HTML节目映射表。该表识别在每个广播数据信道内的数据以及它们的类型和性能(诸如,URL至MPEG资源映射)的列表。它还给出信道导航页的位置。
·HEIT:HTML事件信息表。该表识别在联播信道内关于每个视频节目的数据事件和它们的类型以及性能(诸如URL到MPEG资源映射)的列表。
·HSIT:HTML会话信息表。该表识别在个人化数据信道内的数据流和它们的类型以及性能(诸如URL到MPEG资源映射)的列表。
参照图6,例如在550单个6MHZ信道被调谐,电视调谐到节目560和在570启动服务器主菜单。用户用本机远程装置选择所需特殊服务580(诸如,关于节目相关表450的广播)。最好,根据它相关节目映射表470,在590启动信道选择。于是,最好在600显示导航页。在任一情况下,在610完成网页导航,且观看对于信道的URL。
一旦由用户选择特殊视频信道,选择6MHZ频谱并选择在该频谱内的数字视频节目。机顶将分析在所选MPEG传送流中的HPAT。这将给出在传送流中的HPMT和HEIT和HSIT的位置。
在选择广播模式中,识别HPMT的位置,并从传送流检索。机顶将用由HPMT提供的控制信息通过在数据传送带中的广播数据导航。
在选择联播模式下,识别关于当前视频节目的HEIT的位置并从传送流检索。机顶可用由HEIT提供的控制信息通过在数据传送带中的联播数据同步和导航。
在选择个人化模式中,识别HSIT的位置,并从传送流检索。机顶可用由HSIT提供的控制信息来提供数据传送带中的个人化数据识别、更新和导航。
运用面向对象的设计,通过模块方法来构成执行本发明的计算机和软件结构。这允许改变和精炼(refine)模块以及系统设计改进。系统还满足实时代理性能。实际上,该系统可移植到任何平台,并例如可在PC视窗NT平台上执行,或者在UNIX中执行。最好用C和Visual C++5.0编程该系统,并用SQL 5.0数据库服务器。图形用户界面是万维网浏览器或以Visual C++编程。利用APACHE代理服务器或MICROSOFT代理服务器。
根据本发明提供的系统和方法提供因特网服务和将来数字电视信号的无缝一体化。该系统提供在电缆系统的头端中将MPEG视频信号和因特网信号多路复用成可适于每个用户的特殊使用和要求的MPEG信道的功能。提供单向交互,且在本机数字机顶盒中的专用软件允许该系统是通用的、经济的。这在现有技术中至今还没有达到过。
这里,描述了根据本发明提供的单向广播系统的某些较佳实施例。虽然描述和揭示了一些较佳实施例,但是熟悉本技术领域的人员应认识到修正都落在本发明的真实原理和范围内。所附权利要求书覆盖所有修正。
Claims (14)
1.一种在数字电视网上的单向万维网数据广播系统,其特征在于,包括:
头端系统结构,适于接收来自因特网的数据并通过数字电视网将数据发送到接收机;
用于将因特网数据映射到MPEG流的装置;
用于将因特网数据流与数字视频流组合的装置;
用于通过单向网将万维网内容广播到用户的装置;
用于将所述因特网数据与数字视频信道链接的装置;和
用于在所述单向网中导航广播数据的装置。
2.如权利要求1所述的系统,其特征在于,头端系统是数字广播电视网。
3.如权利要求2所述的系统,其特征在于,用于将因特网数据映射到MPEG流的所述装置是与因特网和数字电视头端连接的用于检索、转换和映射所述数据到MPEG-2流的服务器。
4.如权利要求3所述的系统,其特征在于,将因特网数据流与数字视频流组合的所述装置是服务器和MPEG-2重多路复用器。
5.如权利要求4所述的系统,其特征在于,将万维网内容通过所述单向网广播到用户的所述装置是产生连续数据传送带的服务器。
6.如权利要求5所述的系统,其特征在于,用于将万维网内容与数字视频信道链接的所述装置是在MPEG-2流上产生控制映射的服务器以及处理所述控制映射和执行所述链接的数字接收机。
7.如权利要求6所述的系统,其特征在于,用于在所述单向网络中导航广播数据的所述装置是用于在MPEG-2流上产生控制映射的服务和处理所述控制映射和执行所述导航的数字服务器。
8.一种在数字电视网上的单向万维网数据广播系统,其特征在于,包括:
头端系统结构,适于接收来自因特网的数据并通过数字电视网将数据发送到接收机;
用于将因特网数据映射到MPEG流的装置;
用于将因特网数据流与数字视频流组合的装置;
用于通过单向网将万维网内容广播到用户的装置;
用于将所述因特网数据与数字视频信道链接的装置;和
用于在所述单向网中导航广播数据的装置。
9.如权利要求8所述的系统,其特征在于,所述头端系统是基于MPEG-2的数字广播电视网。
10.如权利要求9所述的系统,其特征在于,用于将因特网数据映射到MPEG流的所述装置是与因特网以及数字电视头端相连的用于检索、转换和映射所述HTML数据到包含专用部分的MPEG-2传送数据包的网关服务器。
11.如权利要求10所述的系统,其特征在于,用于将因特网数据流与数字视频流组合的所述装置是产生MPEG-2传送数据包的网关服务器和与包含视频的MPEG-2传送流多路复用的重多路复用器。
12.如权利要求11所述的系统,其特征在于,用于通过所述单向网将万维网内容广播到用户的所述装置是运用MPEG-2专用部分产生连续数据传送带的网关服务器。
13.如权利要求12所述的系统,其特征在于,将万维网内容与数字视频信道链接的所述装置使用了已定义的控制映射HTML节目相关表(HPAT)、HTML节目映射表(HPMT)、HTML事件信息表(HEIT)和HTML会话信息表(HSIT),它们采用MPEG-2表结构。
14.如权利要求13所述的系统,其特征在于用于在所述单向网中导航广播数据的所述装置用已定义的控制映射HTML节目相关表(HPAT)、HTML节目映射表(HPMT)、HTML事件信息表(HEIT)和HTML会话信息表(HSIT),它们运用MPEG-2表结构网关服务器产生在MPEG-2流上的控制映射并用数字机顶盒处理控制映射和执行导航。
