背景技术
VOD数据流服务在技术上已经有了很大的发展。然而，由于缺乏商业模式，与技术发展相比，VOD数据流服务业务仍处于初步阶段。

根据本发明的一个特征，提供一种VOD服务器，它提供VOD数据流服务，包括：服务控制单元，用于向客户提供由客户选择的多媒体内容和特定的广告内容；和数据存储单元，用于储存多媒体内容、广告内容和客户数据。

1、一种提供VOD数据流服务的点播视像业务(VOD)服务器，VOD服务器包括：

数据存储单元，用于储存多媒体内容、广告内容、和客户数据。
2、如权利要求1所述的VOD服务器，其中服务控制单元包括：
网络服务引擎，用于管理客户接入细节；
搜索引擎，用于搜索客户选择的多媒体内容和广告内容并通过网络服务引擎检索内容；
媒体数据流引擎，用于向客户终端发送由搜索引擎检索的内容；及
会话管理引擎，在客户接入VOD服务器的会话期间用于管理会话。
3、如权利要求1所述的VOD服务器，其中数据存储单元包括：

当从客户接收到广告内容停止请求时，重新开始从VOD服务器接收多媒体内容，来再现多媒体内容。
7、如权利要求6所述的方法，其中选择广告内容还包括：
通过客户终端提供广告选择图象以便允许客户选择广告内容。
8、如权利要求6所述的方法，其中从开始再现广告内容起经过预定时间后，可以选择广告内容停止命令。
