在以下的详细说明中,对许多具体细节进行说明,从而有助于透彻理解本发明。然而,本技术领域内的普通技术人员明白,不包括这些细节,同样可以实现本发明。在其他例子中,为了不使本发明含糊不清,不对众所周知的方法、过程、部件以及电路做详细说明。
应该明白,本发明可以用于各种应用中。尽管本发明在此方面不受限制,在此披露的电路可以用于许多设备中,例如用于无线电系统的接收机中。作为例子,试图包括在本发明范围内的无线电系统包括:蜂窝式无线电话通信系统、双向无线电通信系统、单向寻呼机、双向寻呼机、个人通信系统(PCS)等。
试图包括在本发明范围内的蜂窝式无线电话通信系统的类型包括:直接序列-码分多址(DS-CDMA)蜂窝式无线电话通信系统、宽带CDMA(WCDMA)和CDMA2000蜂窝式无线电话通信系统、个人数字蜂窝式(PDC)蜂窝式无线电话通信系统、全球移动通信系统(GSM)蜂窝式无线电话系统、北美数字蜂窝式(NADC)蜂窝式无线电话系统、时分多址(TDMA)系统、增强GSM数据传输率(EDGE)以及通用移动通信系统(UMTS),但是并不局限于此。
图1是示出根据本发明典型实施例,具有接收机的移动通信台的简化方框图。示出一种正交接收机,但是本发明在此方面不受限制。可以使用其他类型的接收机例如:直接下变换接收机、低中频(IF)接收机以及采用IF采样和其他采样的接收机,但是并不局限于此。所示的接收机包括与CDMA接收机有关的各部件,但是,这仅是一个例子,而且本发明范围决不局限于此。
通信基站发出的射频(RF)信号可以被天线10接收,被下变频器12滤波、放大以及下变频为中频(IF),被第一自动增益控制(AGC)电路14放大,被带通滤波器16滤波以及被第二AGC电路18放大。天线10可以是外部天线(例如,短截线(螺旋)天线或四分之一波长单极天线)或嵌入式天线(例如,平面倒置(planarinverted)天线、贴片天线)。它可以是偶极天线、单极天线、发射天线(shot antenna)、双重特性天线(dual antenna)、全向天线、环形天线或者如果需要,可以是用于移动台接收机的任何其他类型的天线。移动通信台可以任选包括与天线10相连的发射机19。图1所示的、属于接收机的某些部件可以被发射机19共享。利用电池21对移动通信台供电,例如,电池21可以是充电电池或非充电电池。为了简洁起见,图1中未示出电池21与移动通信台的其他部件之间的连接。
放大的IF信号乘以(利用乘法器23和25)合成器20产生、并利用移相器22使它们互相相对移相90°的两个IF正弦信号,以产生同相信号I和正交信号Q。同相信号I可以被低通滤波器24滤波,并被模数(A/D)转换器26数字化。同样,正交信号Q可以被低通滤波器28滤波,并被模数(A/D)转换器30数字化。
移动通信台可以包括用于处理A/D转换器26和30输出的数字输出的处理器31。搜索器32可以执行确定各种多径延迟所需的相关。多径搜索器32还可以跟踪发现的多径。在搜索器32确定的延迟处,去扩频器组34的相关器可以使数字信号相关,可以将去扩频器组34的输出送到搜索器32。可以在瑞克组合器36内对去扩频器组34的输出进行组合,并将它馈送到数据检测器38用于检测该信号内的数据。
频率同步与跟踪单元40可以对去扩频器组34的输出进行处理以确定待送到电压控制振荡器(VCO)42的控制电压,电压控制振荡器42将校正的频率送到合成器20。合成器20可以产生要求送到分相器22和下变频器12的频率,从而接收要求的频率。作为一种选择,移动通信台可以包括用于接收数字命令的N分线合成器(fractionally N synthesizer),而不从VCO 42接收模拟输入,但是图1中未示出。
处理器31还可以包括计算机50,该计算机50可以连接到存储器52。计算机50可以是数字信号处理器(DSP)或微控制器,或者是它们二者。
尽管为了简洁起见,图1中未示出,但是,计算机50可以控制搜索器32、去扩频器组34、瑞克组合器36、数据检测器38以及单元40,而且还可以确定这些模块是对A/D转换器26和30的输出还是对存储的数字采样运行操作。
此外,尽管为了简洁起见,在图1中为明确示出,但是计算机50可以连接到RF部件,以激活或者去激活它们。尽管本发明在此方面不受限制,但是连接到计算机50的RF部件可以包括下变频器12、AGC 14、带通滤波器16、AGC电路18、移相器22、乘法器23和25、合成器20以及VCO 42。低通滤波器24和28是基带部件,但是也可以例如位于与RF部件相同的芯片上。
图2、3和4示出有助于理解本发明的某些实施例的信号和时标。可以在各附图之间重复使用参考编号表示相应的或者类似的单元。可以从通信基站连续发射通常用参考编号100表示的信号。该信号可以是码分多址(CDMA)信号,它可以包括连续导频信号102和要发送到位于通信基站小区内的各移动通信台的数据帧104。
在宽带CDMA(WCDMA)中,每个移动通信台可以知道旨在给它的数据在帧的哪个部分被发送。用参考编号106表示的、旨在给特定移动通信台的数据可以是对该移动通信台的一个指示,指出通信基站是否要将消息108发送到它(寻呼指示符)。用参考编号T1表示的、数据106的时长约在67至533微秒级。在WCDMA中,移动通信台事先可以知道数据106的开始与消息108的开始之间的时间间隔。利用参考编号T2表示该时间间隔,而且该时间间隔约为2.5至20微秒。
在接收数据106之前,可以将处于备用模式下的移动通信台的某些部分激活。例如,可以激活包括合成器20的模块,直到它稳定。一旦合成器模块实现稳定,就可以激活射频(RF)部分的接收通道,而且一旦RF部分的接收通道实现稳定,再经过约1毫秒时间,自动增益控制(AGC)电路14和18就可以实现稳定。
根据本发明的某些实施例,移动通信台可以采样通过天线10接收的信号,可以利用模数(A/D)转换器26和30将该采样转换为数字采样,而且可以将该数字采样存储到其存储器52内。用参考编号TSAMPLE表示移动通信台采样信号100并存储数字采样的时间,该时间至少包括发送数据106的时间间隔T1,以使存储的数字采样包括所有数据106。
图2示出在采样和存储通常与接收数据106同时进行的本发明实施例。图3示出在开始接收数据106时开始采样和存储而在接收数据106结束后仍继续进行采样和存储的本发明实施例。图4示出在开始接收数据106之前开始采样和存储的本发明实施例。以下将更详细说明这些实施例。
本技术领域内的普通技术人员明白,有可能存在本发明的许多其他实施例,包括但并不局限于:在开始接收数据106之前开始采样和存储(如图4所示)而在接收数据106结束后仍继续进行采样和存储(如图3所示)的实施例。同样,不象图3所示的那样,在结束接收数据106后立即继续进行采样和存储,移动通信台可以在结束接收数据106后的任意时间停止采样和存储,然后在之后的某个时间恢复进行采样和存储。
处理器31可以脱机对存储的数字采样进行各种处理。用参考编号TPROC表示的、处理器31处理存储的数字采样的时间可以在开始进行采样和存储时开始,如虚线箭头110所示,也可以在之后开始。可以在采样和存储结束时结束处理过程,也可以在采样和存储结束后继续进行处理,如虚线箭头112所示。
尽管本发明范围在此方面不受限制,但是计算机50可以执行某些或者所有任务,也可以由计算机50控制的模块32、34、36、38和40执行某些或者所有任务。
诸如多径搜索与跟踪、频率同步与跟踪、时间同步与跟踪以及瑞克组合的某些任务是在执行解码数据106的任务之前必须完成的“准备”任务。可以对存储的数字采样执行诸如搜索并监测附近通信基站的其他任务,而与准备任务的时间和解码数据106的时间无关。
由于脱机对存储的数字采样执行这些任务,所以处理速度取决于处理器31(如图1所示,它是硬件和软件的组合,但是本发明在此方面不受限制,因为处理器31实际上同样可以由硬件或软件实现),而不是输入数据速率。某些任务,例如跟踪信道变化和频率跟踪可以与存储的数字采样并行进行。
现在参考图2。如果在时间间隔T1结束时获得的存储数字采样足以满足所有要求的准备任务,则在时间间隔T1结束时,去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道,而且可以停止采样和存储。在时间间隔T1结束时,不一定停止对存储的数字采样的处理。相反,如虚线箭头112所示,处理器31可以继续处理存储的数字采样,同时去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道。例如,在某些实施例中,在时间间隔T1结束之前进行的处理可以包括多径搜索,而且可以根据所发现分支(finger)的质量测量值,决定在时间间隔T1结束时去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道,以下给出其例子。时间间隔T1之后,处理器31可以执行其他准备任务,例如,多径跟踪、频率同步与跟踪、时间同步与跟踪以及瑞克组合。在其他实施例中,可能在时间间隔T1结束前成功执行所有准备任务和数据解码过程。在又一些其他实施例中,可以在时间间隔T1之后进行诸如搜索并监测附近通信基站的非准备任务处理过程。
一旦成功完成了要求的准备任务,处理器31就可以可靠解码数据106,而且可以可靠判定通信基站是否在下一帧将消息发送到它。如果没有即将到来的消息,则计算机50可以在移动通信台的数据(未示出)将被接收之前,在某个后续帧中重新激活RF部分的接收通道。如果存在即将到来的消息,则计算机50可以在下一帧及时重新激活RF部分的接收通道以进入接收模式并成功接收该消息,如箭头114所示。在这两种情况下,如果TSAMPLE通常与时间间隔T1一致,则在备用模式下以数据接收的最短时间和在此之前在其中进行RF部分设置和AGC的一小段额外时间激活了RF部分的接收通道。
现在,参考图3,与图2所示的实施例不同,可能出现在时间间隔T1结束时获得的存储数字采样不足以进行要求的准备任务的情况,即,它们不足以使数据106可靠解码。这可能是因为信道状态糟糕,或者因为要求的任务复杂和/或数量多,或者因为其他因素,或者因为这些因素的组合。以下对指出存储的数字采样是否足以进行所有要求的准备任务的各种质量测量值进行说明。在这种情况下,移动通信台可以判定在时间间隔T1之后继续进行采样和存储,如在时间间隔T1结束之后结束的TSAMPLE所示。(可以将附加数字采样与在时间间隔T1期间采样的、含有数据106的数字采样一起存储到存储器52。)在移动通信台进行采样和存储时,RF部分的接收通道保持活动。
作为一种选择,如上所述,在时间间隔T1结束时,计算机50可以去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道,并停止采样和存储,之后重新激活RF部分的接收通道,从而恢复采样和存储。
尽管图3中未明确示出,但是可以重复进行评估当前存储的数字采样,然后在需要时,或者继续或者恢复进行采样和存储的方法,直到能够可靠解码数据106,或者用于存储采样的存储器存满。即使在已经起动消息108后,仍可以继续进行采样、存储以及处理,因为在需要时,可以根据存储的数据解码消息108。如果用于存储采样的存储器存满了,则计算机50可以判定去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道,并在要发送移动通信台的数据之前(未示出)的某个后续帧重新激活它。作为一种选择,如箭头114所示,移动通信台可以判定去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道,然后,在下一帧及时重新激活它,以进入接收模式,并试图接收它不确定是否正在被发送的消息。
现在,参考图4,帧104内的数据106的时间可能不够,使得不能在消息108结束之前,采样和存储足够数量的数字采样。在信道状态糟糕时和/或在要在可靠解码数据106之前对存储的数字采样执行许多复杂任务时,尤其如此。因此,如上所述,为了降低消息108在可靠解码数据106之前结束的似然性,移动通信台可以在开始接收数据106之前开始采样和存储。可以确定移动通信台何时开始采样和存储的一些因素包括:信道状态,待对存储的数字采样执行的准备任务的复杂性及数量,以及从接收数据106开始直到消息108结束的时间间隔。
某些任务,例如搜索并监测附近通信基站的任务与数据106以及数据106相对于消息108的时间无关。在本发明的某些实施例中,即使数据106已经被可靠解码,或者已经开始接收消息108,或者已经满足了可能导致计算机50去激活RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道的某些其他判据,计算机50仍可以判定保持RF部分的接收通道活动并继续进行采样和存储。为了执行这些任务,可以将新存储的数字采样与先前存储的数字采样一起进行处理。作为一种选择,可以对新存储的数字采样进行处理,而不对先前存储的数字采样进行处理。同样,在某些实施例中,即使RF部分的部分或者全部接收通道被去激活,计算机50仍可以判定重新激活RF部分的接收通道并恢复进行采样和接收。
如上所述,可以提供指出存储的数字采样是否足以满足所有要求的任务各种质量测量值。例如,接收信号的功率估计值Er可以用作质量测量值。它被定义为:

其中NP为多径数量,Ep(i)是多径i的估计功率,它被定义为:

ri(i)是多径i的接收信号的第j个码元的去扩频器输出,而Sj是发送的第j个码元。在WCDMA和IS-95中,接收机知道该导频码元。在其他蜂窝式系统中,接收机可以估计导频码元。“Dwell”是估计周期。
作为一种选择,估计的信号与噪声和干扰比SNIR可以用作质量测量值。它被定义为所有发现多径中每个多径的估计的信号与噪声和干扰比SNIR(i)之和,其定义为:

Claims (25)

1、一种方法,该方法包括:
存储在备用模式下的移动通信台接收的信号的数字采样,所述数字采样包括从通信基站发送到所述移动通信台的数据,所述数据指出发送到所述移动通信台的消息是否即将到来;
去激活所述移动通信台的至少部分接收通道;
处理所述存储采样;以及
判定是否使所述移动通信台接收所述消息。
2、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括搜索所述信号内的多径。
3、根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括瑞克组合两个或者更多个发现的多径。
4、根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括跟踪所发现多径的定时。
5、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括搜索并跟踪所述信号的载波频率。
6、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括对在存储所述数字采样时出现的信道变化进行跟踪。
7、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括监测附近基站。
8、根据权利要求7所述的方法,该方法进一步包括:
存储所述信号的附加数字采样;以及
利用至少所述附加采样,监测附近基站。
9、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括搜索新基站。
10、根据权利要求9所述的方法,该方法进一步包括:
存储所述信号的附加数字采样;以及
利用至少所述附加采样,搜索新基站。
11、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括解码所述数据。
12、根据权利要求1所述的方法,该方法进一步包括:
估计所述存储采样是否足以使所述数据被可靠解码。
13、根据权利要求12所述的方法,其中所述估计过程包括:
确定在所述信号内、来自所述基站的所发现多径的估计功率;以及
将所述估计功率与预定值进行比较。
14、根据权利要求12所述的方法,其中所述估计过程包括:
确定在所述信号内、来自所述基站的所发现多径的估计信号功率与所述信号的噪声和干扰功率之比;以及
将所述比值与预定值进行比较。
15、根据权利要求12所述的方法,其中去激活至少部分所述接收通道的过程包括,如果所述存储采样足够,则去激活至少部分所述接收通道。
16、根据权利要求15所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括,在去激活至少部分所述接收通道后,处理所述存储采样。
17、根据权利要求12所述的方法,该方法进一步包括:
如果所述存储数字采样不足够,则存储所述信号的附加数字采样。
18、根据权利要求12所述的方法,该方法进一步包括:
如果所述存储数字采样不足够,则重新激活所述接收通道,并存储所述信号的附加数字采样。
19、根据权利要求18所述的方法,其中处理所述存储采样的过程包括,在去激活至少部分所述接收通道后,处理所述存储采样。
20、一种移动通信台,该移动通信台包括:
偶极天线;以及
处理器,用于处理处于备用模式的所述移动通信台通过所述天线接收的信号的存储数字采样,所述数字采样包括从通信基站发送到所述移动通信台的数据,所述数据指出发送到所述移动通信台的消息是否即将到来,
其中所述处理器能够判定所述移动通信台是否接收所述消息,并且能够去激活所述移动通信台的至少部分接收通道。
21、根据权利要求20所述的移动通信台,其中所述处理器能够估计所述存储采样是否足以使所述数据被可靠解码。
22、一种移动通信台,该移动通信台包括:
存储器,含有指令,在处理器执行该指令时,使所述处理器:
存储处于备用模式的所述移动通信台接收的信号的数字采样,所述数字采样包括从通信基站发送到所述移动通信台的数据,所述数据指出发送到所述移动通信台的消息是否即将到来,
处理所述存储采样;以及
判定是否使所述移动通信台接收所述消息。
23、根据权利要求22所述的移动通信台,其中所述处理器在执行所述指令时,所述指令还使所述处理器估计所述存储采样是否足以使所述数据被可靠解码。
24、一种设备,该设备包括:
处理器,用于处理处于备用模式的移动通信台接收的信号的存储数字采样,所述数字采样包括从通信基站发送到所述移动通信台的数据,所述数据指出发送到所述移动通信台的消息是否即将到来,
其中所述处理器能够判定所述移动通信台是否接收所述消息,并且能够去激活所述移动通信台的至少部分接收通道。
25、根据权利要求24所述的设备,其中所述处理器能够估计所述存储采样是否足以使所述数据被可靠解码。
