Description

Insert for applying medication to the eye The new insert enables the application of drugs to the eye in a simple and effective way Way.

To this day, the application of drugs to the eye is based on well-known methods Methods, namely by dripping in liquid substances, by rinsing with the help a specially shaped cup, by placing one soaked with the medication Rag or by spreading ointment. Must be used when dripping medication the patient assume a lying position or tilt his head back, with the Drops usually have to be given by a helper. When closing the eyelids and under the flushing action of increased tear formation, the instilled solution becomes quickly displaced from the eye socket and thus greatly reduces the effect of the drug, and it stops completely after a short time. Even when rinsing with an eye cup is the exposure time is relatively short.

When placing a cloth soaked in the medication, the Exposure time can be extended, but the vision of the affected eye is impaired, and an over-bandage around the head is usually required so that the patient can is restricted in its freedom of movement.

It has also been proposed, so-called contact shells, such as they are used for optical correction of the eye, for introduction and retention of eye ointments to use.

The subject of the invention is based on the idea that to apply to prefabricate the drug to be brought together with a drug carrier and to bring it into a form appropriate to the eye, which can be used at any time without cumbersome individual preparation and in a predetermined dosage allowed.

With an eye insert as a medicament carrier in the form of the eyeball adapted adhesive shells made of material swellable in water is according to the invention in the material of the adhesive shell under the action of the tear fluid through diffusion gradually releasable drug stored. The eye insert can be like this be designed that it consists of multilayer material and that at least one layer is swellable in water. The eye pad has been made in the manner of the well-known Adhesive glasses thus have the shape of a spherical segment adapted to the shape of the eyeball (Fig. 1). It can also be provided with a cutout with otherwise the same training be, so that it represents a ring which, when in use, the lens part of the Eyes free (Fig. 2).

With the eye insert according to the invention achieved that Drug brought directly to the desired place of action and moreover a storage of the same is achieved, which can last for hours. By the continued mixing of the released drug with the tear fluid the area of action is definitely on the cornea, scera and conjunctiva of the eyeball, the inner surface of the eyelids and corresponding glands, as well as canals of the lacrimal apparatus extended. The eye insert is after wetting with water in the manner of the known Adhesive glasses inserted into the eye and removed again after use. It can also a material can be used which is exposed to the action of tear fluid dissolves or loses so much stability that the insert after the the desired exposure time out of the eye by itself.
