Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a status display for a screen display device, with the Features of the preamble according to claim 1.
B. als "normal mode", "suspend mode", "stand by mode" und "off mode" bezeichnet.Modern screen display devices or computer monitors have a so-called Power management, which when the monitor is not in use Power consumption of the monitor gradually. The respective status of the Power consumption z. B. as "normal mode", "suspend mode", "stand by mode "and" off mode ".
So that the user recognizes which mode the monitor is in by means of a status display according to the power consumption a specific one Ad generated.
Es sind verschiedene Statusanzeigen bekannt, beispielsweise wechselt, je nach Mode, die Farbe einer Leuchtdiode (rot, gelb, grün).Various status displays are known, for example changes depending on Fashion, the color of a light emitting diode (red, yellow, green).
In addition, a status display is known in which an LED with only a color is used that lights up continuously in "normal mode", whereas flashes in the other states. A precise distinction between the respective states is therefore not possible.
In general, the known status indicators have the disadvantage that they are used Labels for the individual statuses are not intuitively recognizable for the user are, since they have no assignment, which a connection to the has the respective status.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a status indicator for a Specify screen display device, which can be realized with little effort can and the individual states of the power consumption of the screen display unit well represents distinguishable and assignable.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1.
The advantage of the present invention is that by taking advantage of a physiological analogy - the flashing frequency of the status display is comparable to the heartbeat or breathing, which are great at high performance - one intuitive assignment of the current power consumption to the Status display displayed status is possible.
Further advantages of the invention result from the dependent claims and the following description of an embodiment with reference to figures.
Es zeigtIt shows
Fig. 1 ein Prinzipschaltbild einer erfindungsgemäßen Statusanzeige, und Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram of a status display according to the invention, and
Fig. 2 examples of the display of various statuses with a status display according to the invention.
In Fig. 1, a computer 2 with an input device 1, which can be formed for example by a keyboard or a "mouse", as well as a device connected to the computer 2 screen display unit 9 is shown.
The screen display device 9 is formed by a cathode ray tube 3 , a power supply unit 4 , a device 5 for processing the image signals to be displayed as well as for gradually reducing the power consumption when not in use and a status display 6 , 7 . The status display 6 , 7 can be formed, for example, by a single-color light-emitting diode 6 and an associated control circuit 7 .
In operation (normal mode), the image signals to be displayed on the computer 2 are processed by the device 5 for processing the image signals and displayed on the cathode ray tube 3 . The monitoring of the input device 1 by the computer 2 determines whether the system is being used or whether it has not been used for a certain period of time. If non-use is ascertained over a certain first period of time, the computer 2 generates a first signal which is evaluated by the device 5 for the gradual reduction of the power consumption. The device 5 reduces the power consumption of the screen display device 9 by a first stage (suspend mode) in accordance with the first signal. When not in use, corresponding second and third signals are generated, which further reduce power consumption (stand by mode, off mode).
In accordance with the respective status of the power consumption of the screen display device 9 , the device 5 for gradually reducing the power consumption generates a signal which is present at the control circuit 7 for the light-emitting diode 6 . The LED 6 is controlled by the control circuit 7 as a function of the signal from the device 5 . In operation (normal mode), the light emitting diode 6 lights up continuously, with the first power feedback (suspend mode) the light emitting diode 6 flashes with a frequency of 0.5 Hz, for example, with the second power feedback (stand by mode) the light emitting diode 6 flashes with a half the reduced frequency, in this case 0.25 Hz, with further power returns, the frequency is halved. In addition to the values for the flashing frequency mentioned for example, other values are also possible.
An advantageous display results when the light-emitting diode 6 is activated by the control circuit 7 in such a way that it flashes slowly when the flashing and slowly goes out. In Fig. 2a this is shown for a flashing frequency of 0.25 Hz (stand by mode).
For the display, it is also advantageous if the duration of light during the light emitting diode 6 during flashing for different frequencies remains the same, the different frequencies thus during which the light-emitting diode 6 is not generated is illuminated by a change in the duration.
Further display options result if the light-emitting diode 6 can display several colors. Then it is also possible e.g. B. Error states such as wrong or no image signal. If a green light emitting diode is used for the status display of the power consumption, a red light emitting diode can be used for error displays. To further differentiate the status display of the power consumption from the error display, a higher frequency (e.g. 1 Hz) can be used in the error display and, as shown in FIG. 2b, the light-emitting diode can be controlled so that it immediately reaches its full luminosity .
