Abstract

Gas-tight connection for drill pipes, used in deep wells, is produced by terminating the internally threaded part of the tool joint by a cylindrical plain bore, ending in a re-entrant taper face. The taper angle of the latter is 5-20% greater than the angle of the tapered face at the spigot end of a drill tube. The relative actual dias. of spigot end and of bore are such that a gap is left which is closed when the joint is tightened. This leaves greater tolerances for manufacturing accuracy without endangering the gas-tight seal. The danger of premature wear by friction or of fretting and damage is completely eliminated.

Description

Es zeigt An embodiment of the connection according to the invention is shown in FIG shown in the invoices. It shows

F i g. 1 shows a plan view of the connection of two pipes with the aid of a pipe socket with a partial section through the sealing point, FIG. 2 den Section of the circle of FIG. 1 on a larger scale when not tightened or tightened Connection, fig. 3 shows a detail of the enlarged section according to FIG. 2 and FIG 4 shows the enlarged section of FIG. 1 with the connection tightened.

The inner link 1 with a bolt taper thread 2 ends with a Sealing pin 3, which is rounded aspherically convex on its peripheral surface and whose forehead is provided with a negative cone 4 with the inclination oc. The outer Link 5, which is provided with a tapered nut thread 6, has at the thread end an inner cylindrical recess 7, the bottom of which has a corresponding positive Cone 8 with the inclination ß forms. In the untightened state of the connection is the true diameter d in any cross section i of the sealing plug 3 smaller than the nominal diameter Dj in the corresponding cross-section of the cylindrical Recess 7 and the true diameter D in said cross-section of the cylindrical Recess 7 larger than the nominal diameter dj in the corresponding cross section of the sealing pin 3, so that between the sealing pin 3 and the cylindrical Recess 7 creates a gap 9. The envelope surfaces of the nominal diameter djund They are shown in FIG. 3 shown in dashed lines.

As shown in FIG. 2 and F i g. 3 is shown, the slope is correct Ix the end face of the cone 4 of the sealing pin 3 not with the inclination ß the corresponding end face of the cone 8 of the cylindrical recess 7, so that before tightening the connection between these conical surfaces there is a gap 10 remains, which with the gap 9, the friction of the sealing pin 3 in the inner cylindrical recess 7 prevented.

The described storage of the sealing pin 3 of the inner link 1 in the cylindrical recess 7 of the outer link 5 reduces the geometric Couplings the location of both links of the connection only on their taper threads 2 and 6 and the end faces of the cones 4 and 8, in which the areas of the edge 11 and 12 of the outer and inner members 5 and 1 substantially and in sufficient detail Dimensions cause the coupling. This simplistic geometric coupling, even with a reduction in manufacturing accuracy requirements results in one high degree of sealing of the connection, because when tightening the two links the The end face of the cone 4 of the sealing pin 3 on the end face of the cone 8 of the outer link 5 slides in the direction of the arrow, as shown in FIG. 4 shown is. This results in an elastic increase in the circumference of the end part of the sealing pin 3 until there is firm contact between the contact surfaces of the sealing pin 3 and the cylindrical recess 7 comes. This creates an initial seal the connection causes. When tightening the two links the connection arises an elastic deformation in the area of the edge 11 on the end face of the cone 8, whereby the gap 10 narrows and a labyrinth 13 is created. In this way a very effective second seal of the connection is formed.

In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the outer member 5 is a pipe socket with tapered nut threads 6, and the inner links 1 are tubes with tapered Bolt-Thread 2. This example represents a three-part connection known per se represent. In another variant of the connection of pipes in a known manner consists of only two links, however, the outer link with the tapered thread can be a sleeve z. B. is created by pressing or stamping the pipe end. at Another known modification of the three-part connection can do that inner link can be a nipple with tapered bolt threads at both ends, while the outer links are tubes with tapered nut-threads going through connected to the nipple.

Claim: Gas-tight threaded connection of pipes, in particular of drill pipes for deep drilling, with an inner and an outer member, wherein the inner one with a tapered bolt thread and one on the face side having a cone and sealing pin which is convexly rounded on its circumferential surface ending link is screwed into the outer link and this with a tapered Nut thread is provided, which ends with an inner recess that is one of the The cone of the pin has approximately the same end face and is located in the tightened connection of the pins of the inner link and with his End face and circumferential surface sealing against the end face and circumferential surface of the aforementioned Recess of the outer member rests, characterized in that the peripheral surface the inner recess (7) of the outer member (5) is cylindrical that the slope (oc) the conical face (4) of the inner link (3) when not tightened Connection 5 to 20% larger than the slope (ß) of the conical face (8) the inner recess (7) of the outer link (5) and that the actual Diameter (d) in any cross-section (i) of the sealing pin (3) is smaller than the nominal diameter (Dj) in the corresponding cross section (i) of the cylindrical Recess (7) of the outer link (5) of the connection and the actual diameter (D) in said cross section (i) of the cylindrical recess (7) of the outer Link (5) of the connection larger than the nominal diameter (dy) in the corresponding Cross-section (i) of the sealing plug (3) of the inner link (1) of the connection is. The invention relates to a gas-tight threaded connection of pipes, in particular of drill pipes for deep boreholes, with an inner and an outer Link, the inner being provided with a tapered bolt thread and with a the end face having a cone and convexly rounded on its circumferential surface Sealing pin ending member is screwed into the outer member and this is provided with a tapered nut thread with an inner recess ends, which has an end face approximately in the same direction as the cone of the pin and in which the pin of the inner link is located when the connection is tightened and with its front and peripheral surface sealing on the front and peripheral surface the mentioned recess of the outer link rests. From the German Auslegeschrift 1533619 is for deep borehole pipes such a gas-tight threaded connection is known, the inner member of which is also known a sealing pin with a spherically convex rounded or crowned outer surface and having a conical face. The face is on the corresponding conical bottom surface of the inner recess of the outer link and is mainly characterized in that the angle of inclination of this conical surface is greater than that Angle of self-locking is while the one with the convex lateral surface of the pin cooperating peripheral surface of the inner recess of the outer member one forms a hollow cone narrowing towards the end face. According to US Pat. No. 3,489,437 and its corresponding DT-AS 15 25 928 the face of the sealing pin is stepped by two cones, one smaller outer cone on the outer edge of the forehead and a larger inner cone form on the inner edge of the forehead. Those adjoining the forehead, essentially cylindrical circumferential surfaces of the pin and the recess do not work together, but are at a distance from each other. These known connections are sufficiently tight, the connections however, make high demands on the manufacturing accuracy, because the contact surfaces its two members determined by some geometric or local coupling points are. The complete sealing of these connections is effected by tightening, whereby on contact surfaces of the sealing pin and the relevant Stc! le of the the outer link creates large areas of friction due to its geometric identity, which these connections the risk of frictional wear and thereby also a Expose to damage. The invention is based on the stated disadvantages to eliminate. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the peripheral surface the inner recess of the outer member is cylindrical that the slope of the conical face of the inner link when the connection is not tightened 5 to 20% greater than the inclination of the conical face of the inner recess of the outer member is and that the actual diameter in any Cross section of the sealing pin smaller than the nominal diameter in the corresponding Cross-section of the cylindrical recess of the outer link of the joint and the actual diameter in said cross-section of the cylindrical Recess of the outer link of the connection larger than the nominal diameter in the corresponding cross-section of the sealing plug of the inner link of the connection is. An advantage of the gas-tight threaded connection according to the invention is that their manufacture is easier because the requirements for accuracy as a result of the smaller geometric couplings or coupling points are lower and yet a connection with a high sealing effect is established even if it is dismantled and screwed back together several times. Another benefit is there in that the risk of frictional wear or galling and thereby their Damage is practically completely eliminated because the contact surfaces of the sealing pin and the inner cylindrical recess in reality neither geometrically nor are identical in dimensions. Another advantage of the invention is that the cylindrical surface of the inner recess increases its front bearing surface, whereby the specific pressure is reduced when the connection is tightened and the cylindrical surface of the sealing member increases the thickness of its wall, which is particularly advantageous in the case of pipes that have the same dimensions of the connection have a smaller wall thickness. This increases the buckling strength of the Cone.
