Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for filling an insulating glass unit with a filling gas and a device for carrying out this method.
- Insulating glass units with one or more inner chambers ie with two or more parallel panes which are glued to the side surfaces of a spacer frame, are often filled with a suitable filling gas. So far, the filling has mostly been done that one provided near one end of the longer dimension of the insulating glass unit an opening in one of the spacers or also in a corner angle piece holding the spacers at the corners for blowing in the filling gas and near the opposite end at least one similar or also larger opening through which the displaced air could flow off.
- the solution of providing larger or more bores for outflowing the air would involve a greater manufacturing outlay, since the openings not only have to be drilled, but also have to be sealed very well and permanently after filling.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method and a device for filling insulating glass units with which the filling can take place more quickly than in the known methods.
- This object is inventively achieved in that ß is sucked off during filling at least one discharge opening, the gas-air mixture, wherein the amount of suction in the same order of magnitude as the charge amount of the filler gas, so that the pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is approximately kept constant.
- the filling time can be shortened by at least 30%, so that it reaches the same order of magnitude as the other operations mentioned.
- the gas filling of the insulating glass units can now be carried out directly in the production line with the full utilization of the capacity thereof.
- the time-consuming additional work steps of removing the units from the production line, filling the gas and then sealing, which is also unsafe, are eliminated.
- the amount of gas flowing in / the amount of gas drawn off is measured and the amount of gas drawn off / the amount of gas flowing in for filling is controlled with the aid of this measurement so that the gas pressure inside the insulating glass unit remains approximately constant. Since the amount of air or gas present in the interior of the insulating glass unit remains unchanged during the entire filling time, there is inevitably an approximately constant pressure.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the pressure inside the insulating glass unit is measured and the amount of gas flowing in for filling and / or the amount of gas drawn off are controlled with the aid of this measurement so that when a predetermined first pressure is exceeded the filling is switched off and / or the suction is switched to a higher level, and that when the pressure falls below a predetermined second pressure, the filling is switched on and / or the suction is switched to a lower level.
- the pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is measured at a middle point between the filling point and the suction point. This increases the likelihood of measuring the pressure representative of most of the interior, unaffected by dead zones or swirl fields.
- the invention provides a particularly advantageous device for performing the described method.
- a preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention is characterized by a suction device, which can be connected to a discharge opening of the insulating glass unit, and by a control device for controlling the amount of gas flowing out as a function of the amount of gas flowing in.
- the control device ensures that the amount of gas flowing out remains in the same order of magnitude as the amount of gas flowing in, and thereby keeps the pressure inside the insulating glass unit constant.
- Another preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention with a filling device and a pressure measuring device for measuring the gas pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is characterized by a suction device which is connected to a discharge opening of the insulating glass unit can be connected, and by a control device for controlling the amount of the inflowing gas and / or the amount of the outflowing air-gas mixture as a function of the pressure measured by the pressure measuring device. Since both the filling device and the suction device can be controlled in this arrangement, the pressure inside the insulating glass unit can be kept constant within very narrow limits, with the use of simple components resulting in a particularly uncomplicated structure for the entire device.
- the senor of the pressure measuring device is attached to a filling probe or a filler neck of the filling device or to a suction probe or a suction nozzle of the suction device.
- the insertion of the sensor takes place in a single operation simultaneously with the insertion of the corresponding probe or the corresponding socket into the associated filling or suction opening of the insulating glass unit.
- the insulating glass unit consists of two parallel glass panes 12 which are glued to the edges of a spacer frame.
- the spacer frame consists of four spacers 14, which are held together by corner angle pieces 16.
- Each leg of two corner elbows 16 has a continuous bore 18 running in its longitudinal direction, as best seen in FIG. 2, which connects the outside space with the interior of the insulating glass unit 10:
- the four spacers 14 can also be connected directly to one another without using corner angle pieces 16.
- a bore 20 for filling the gas and for sucking off the air-gas mixture is provided in a spacer 14 extending in the longer dimension, in each case near one end. After completing the filling process, these holes are plugged closed, and the edges of the spacer frame are extrusion-coated with a sealing compound 22, as can be seen in part in FIG. 1.
- a filler neck or a filler probe 24 and a suction nozzle or a suction probe 26 are used in each of the bores 18 and 20.
- a control device 28 is used, on the one hand connected to the filling device 30 and on the other hand with a suction device 32 and the quantity of the controls the gas flowing out of the suction probe 26 as a function of the gas flowing in through the filling probe 24 in such a way that the suction quantity is of the same order of magnitude as the filling quantity of the filling gas, and thereby keeps the pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit 10 approximately constant.
- This embodiment is shown in FIG. 3 using a spacer frame held together by corner angle pieces 16. It is necessary, for example, to carry out a flow measurement in the filling device 30 to obtain an input signal required by the control device 28 and to control the suction by the suction device 32 so that the suction quantity corresponds approximately to the filling quantity. Conversely, of course, a flow measurement can also be carried out in the suction device 32 and the filling quantity can be controlled accordingly by the filling device. However, measuring the filling quantity and controlling the suction quantity is preferred, since a maximum filling quantity is aimed at in order to shorten the duration of the filling process as much as possible.
- this flow measurement is replaced by a less complex pressure measurement.
- This embodiment is shown in Figure 4 below Shown using a spacer frame, in which the spacers are connected directly to one another without using corner angle pieces.
- a filler neck or a filler probe 24 and a suction neck or a suction probe 26 are inserted into a bore 20 each.
- a pressure sensor 36 connected to a pressure measuring device 34 is inserted into the interior of the insulating glass unit 10.
- the pressure measuring device 34 is connected to the control device 28 and supplies the latter with an input signal proportional to the pressure prevailing inside the insulating glass unit 10.
- the control unit 28 controls the filling process in such a way that the filling is switched off and / or the suction is switched to a higher level when a predetermined first pressure is exceeded, and that the filling is switched on and / or when the pressure falls below a predetermined second pressure Suction is switched to a lower level.
- the pressure sensor 36 In order to be able to measure the pressure at a location in the interior of the insulating glass unit 10 which is as favorable as possible, at which the pressure conditions are not falsified either by strong turbulence or by dead zones, it is advantageous to connect the pressure sensor 36 to the filler probe or to the filling probe via an extended supply line 38 to be connected to the suction probe and to be introduced together with it into the interior of the insulating glass unit 10.
- the inventive method for filling the inner space of an insulating glass unit with a filling g as not only the construction prevents a dangerous excess pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit 10, but by the used in the context of this process extraction of the filling process is significantly accelerated. As has emerged from experiments, the duration of the filling process be reduced by at least 30%. Since the filling time thus reaches the same order of magnitude as the other operations, when using the method according to the invention the insulating glass units 10 to be filled can remain on the production line together with the other insulating glass units which are not intended for filling with a filling gas, without the total Cycle time is affected.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for filling an insulating glass unit with a filling gas and a device for carrying out this method.
Insulating glass units with one or more inner chambers, ie with two or more parallel panes which are glued to the side surfaces of a spacer frame, are often filled with a suitable filling gas. For the outflow, two openings arranged side by side were often provided, the air being able to flow out unhindered through one of these openings, while an intake port of a measuring device for the degree of filling of the interior was inserted into the other opening. Since there was often a longer hose line between the intake manifold and the measuring device, in these cases an insufficient amount of the air-gas mixture often got into the measuring device, so that the internal friction of the hose line had to be overcome by means of a small fan.
In this known method, a certain filling time per square meter of the insulating glass unit cannot be exceeded, since if the internal pressure is too high there is a risk that either a pane will break or one of the bonds between the panes and the spacers will come loose.
On the other hand, the solution of providing larger or more bores for outflowing the air would involve a greater manufacturing outlay, since the openings not only have to be drilled, but also have to be sealed very well and permanently after filling.
The comparatively high filling times caused thereby have the disadvantage in particular that In a production line, the cycle times of the other manufacturing steps, such as manufacturing the spacer frame, gluing the panes to the spacers and overmolding the edges with a sealing compound, can be carried out much more quickly.
Since not all insulating glass units produced in such a production line are filled with gas, it was previously necessary to fully utilize the capacity of the production line, the insulating glass units to be filled with gas after the panes were glued to the spacers from the production line. out, fill with gas at a separate point and then make the final seal using the sealant. In most cases, the procedure was such that the sealing compound was already applied in the production line except for the area surrounding the filling and outflow opening, and only then was the insulating glass unit brought to the separate filling station. In the meantime, especially if the filling was not carried out immediately, the edges of the sealant in the vicinity of the openings could harden or also become dirty, so that a good seal could not always be achieved when the sealant finally sealed these points. This caused great potential for errors in the edge bond.
The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method and a device for filling insulating glass units with which the filling can take place more quickly than in the known methods. This object is inventively achieved in that ß is sucked off during filling at least one discharge opening, the gas-air mixture, wherein the amount of suction in the same order of magnitude as the charge amount of the filler gas, so that the pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is approximately kept constant.
In this way, in the method according to the invention, as tests carried out have shown, the filling time can be shortened by at least 30%, so that it reaches the same order of magnitude as the other operations mentioned. Thus, the gas filling of the insulating glass units can now be carried out directly in the production line with the full utilization of the capacity thereof. The time-consuming additional work steps of removing the units from the production line, filling the gas and then sealing, which is also unsafe, are eliminated.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the amount of gas flowing in / the amount of gas drawn off is measured and the amount of gas drawn off / the amount of gas flowing in for filling is controlled with the aid of this measurement so that the gas pressure inside the insulating glass unit remains approximately constant. Since the amount of air or gas present in the interior of the insulating glass unit remains unchanged during the entire filling time, there is inevitably an approximately constant pressure.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the pressure inside the insulating glass unit is measured and the amount of gas flowing in for filling and / or the amount of gas drawn off are controlled with the aid of this measurement so that when a predetermined first pressure is exceeded the filling is switched off and / or the suction is switched to a higher level, and that when the pressure falls below a predetermined second pressure, the filling is switched on and / or the suction is switched to a lower level. This results in a particularly uncomplicated arrangement due to the relatively simple construction of a pressure sensor.
In an expedient development of the invention, the pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is measured at a middle point between the filling point and the suction point. This increases the likelihood of measuring the pressure representative of most of the interior, unaffected by dead zones or swirl fields.
Furthermore, the invention provides a particularly advantageous device for performing the described method. A preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention is characterized by a suction device, which can be connected to a discharge opening of the insulating glass unit, and by a control device for controlling the amount of gas flowing out as a function of the amount of gas flowing in. Here, the control device ensures that the amount of gas flowing out remains in the same order of magnitude as the amount of gas flowing in, and thereby keeps the pressure inside the insulating glass unit constant.
Another preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention with a filling device and a pressure measuring device for measuring the gas pressure in the interior of the insulating glass unit is characterized by a suction device which is connected to a discharge opening of the insulating glass unit can be connected, and by a control device for controlling the amount of the inflowing gas and / or the amount of the outflowing air-gas mixture as a function of the pressure measured by the pressure measuring device. Since both the filling device and the suction device can be controlled in this arrangement, the pressure inside the insulating glass unit can be kept constant within very narrow limits, with the use of simple components resulting in a particularly uncomplicated structure for the entire device.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the sensor of the pressure measuring device is attached to a filling probe or a filler neck of the filling device or to a suction probe or a suction nozzle of the suction device. Thus, the insertion of the sensor takes place in a single operation simultaneously with the insertion of the corresponding probe or the corresponding socket into the associated filling or suction opening of the insulating glass unit.

The insulating glass unit, generally designated 10 in FIG. 1, consists of two
To fill the
In another embodiment of the invention, this flow measurement is replaced by a less complex pressure measurement. This embodiment is shown in Figure 4 below Shown using a spacer frame, in which the spacers are connected directly to one another without using corner angle pieces. Here too, a filler neck or a
In the inventive method for filling the inner space of an insulating glass unit with a filling g as not only the construction prevents a dangerous excess pressure in the interior of the
