Abstract

An air conditioner is disclosed comprising a compressor, a plurality of heat exchangers, an accumulator and, at least one expansion valve connected in a refrigeration circuit operable to perform a cooling and/or heating operation. The air conditioner further comprises a control unit for controlling operation of the air conditioner wherein when the compressor stops, the control unit is configured so as to close at least one expansion valve to prevent refrigerant flowing into the accumulator.
