Abstract

A pail (10) includes a base (12) and at least one wall (14) extending upwardly from a periphery of the base (12) to an opening of the pail (10). A lip (16) protrudes outwardly from an upper edge of the wall (14) adjacent the opening. A skirt (20) curves outwardly and downwardly from an outer surface of the wall (14) below the lip (16). A lid (18) for the pail (10) includes an upper wall (52) and three latch portions (56) extending downwardly from an outer periphery of the upper wall (52). The three latch portions (56) are substantially evenly disposed about the outer periphery of the upper wall (52). A tear away strip (64) connects the three latch portions (56), to prevent removal of the lid (50) from the pail (10). When the tear away strip (64) is torn away from the lid (50), the lid (50) can be removed from the pail (10) by manually deflecting one of the latch portions (56).
