LEOPOLD C. EGLOFF, OF FOREST PARK, ILLINOIS.
CONCRETE WALL CONSTRUCTION.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, LEOPOLD C. EGLOFF, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Forest Park, in the countyiof Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Concrete Wall Construction, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The general object of my invention is to provide an improved mode of constructing concrete walls whereby to eliminate the erection of forms. The stated object of my invention is attained by producing rectangular concrete slabs Which are reinforced with Hat steel bars. The reinforce bars protrude from the slabs adjacent to the vertical meeting edges and are arranged to receive interlocking and bonding devices connecting the' front and rear slabs of the walls so as to bind the same together, at the same time interlocking the joining front and the joining rear slabs. The space between the front and rear slabs is filled in with concrete.
The invention will be more particularly explained in the specific description following.
Reference is to be had tothe accompanying drawings forming a part of` this invention in which similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a back view showing assembled slabs;
Fig. 2 is an end view with a part broken away;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section through alined slabs.
In carrying out my invention, rectangular slabs l0 are formed, which usually, are flat, but may be in curved form for a circular wall construction. The meeting edges of the slabs are preferably rabbeted as at 11.
Extending horizontally in the slabs, are preferably iat reinforce bars 12, the ends Speccaton of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 18, 1917.
Application led April 11, 1916. Serial No. 90,344.
13 of which protrude from the faces of the slabs adjacent to the side edges.` The said protruding ends 13 range at an angle to the plane 'of the slab and extend beyond the adjacent vertical side edges so that adjacent ends 13 will overlap. The ends 13 are broadened and formed with holes 14, the respective holes in the overlapped ends alining vertically.
The holes 14 receive the downturned hooked ends 15 of tie barsy 16, constituting interlocking and bonding devices, effectively tying the front and rear slabs together and interlocking the respective reinforce bars 12.
The space between the front and rear slabs v 10, is lled in with concrete, thereby making a homogeneous wall without requiring the erection of forms in constructing the wall.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new, `and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A concrete wall including front and rear slabs, reinforce bars ranging horizontally in said slabs near the upper and lower edges, and protruding from the inner faces of the slabs near the vertical side edges thereof, the said protruding ends of the ysaid vreinforce bars having extensions projecting laterally beyond the said vertical edges and being Hattened,'the adjacent flattened ends of adjacent bars overlapping each other in 'horizontal planes adjacent to the inner wall surfaces and formed with alined vertical holes, and U-shaped horizontal bonding members having their ends depending, the depending ends extending through the alined holes of the bars.
