IMPROVEMENT iN FRAM ES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,114, dated October 8,1872.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN A. STEVENS, of Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Frames; and that the following' is a full, clear and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification:
The object of this invention is to provide an .ornamental corner for the upper surface of frames in such manner as will add to the strength of the frames, and at the same time cover the ruiter-joint; and the invention consists in fitting into and over the corners of wooden frames of any description a rectanA In frames of this description, particularly when ornaniented by carving, it has been found difficult to make a miter-joint neat and true, so that, in most cases, the joint would give an unfinished appearance to the frame; and in eases where the frame is ornamented by carving it has also been found troublesome at all times to match the carved work at the joint. In order to obviate these difficulties, after joining the frame together at the corner, I iit into the upper edge thereof the wooden corner B, Fig. 2, in such manner as will cover a'nd conceal the joint, and at the same time add to the strength of the frame. The corner B is secured in place by glue and dowel-pins t a, and may be ornamented in any desirable manner by carving or otherwise, in this wayl giving a neat finish to the frame.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The wooden right-angular corner B, secured to the corners of frames by glue and dowelpins, in the manner and for the purpose de scribed.
