IMPROVEMENT IN HYDRAULIC MAINS F GAS-WORKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 134,874, dated January 14, 1873.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, WM. FARMER, of New York, in the `county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in the Construction of Hydraulic Mains of Gas-Works, of which the followin g is a specification:
The invention relates to the mode of connecting the dip-pipes with the main, a-nd of inserting them into the same; and consists in providing for each dip-pipe alateral chamber or cup attached to the main, into which the inferior open end of the dip-pipe is inserted.
In the drawing, Figure l is a front elevation of a section of a main provided with my improvement. Fig. 2 is a pian of the same. Fig. 3 is a section through the line A B in Figs. l and 2.

What I claim as my invention is- The hydraulic main provided with lateral cups or chambers for the insertion ofthe 'dippipes, substantially as set forth.
