GAME.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrrr VICTOR STOL- rnn, a citizen of resident of Chicago,
the United in the county of Cook States, and a and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Games, the following is a full, clear,
scription.
of which and exact de- My invention relates to improvements in games, and it consists in the combinations,
constructions, and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide a game of the character described by means of which any ordinary card game requiring five cards to a hand, such as poker,
played.
A further provide a game of the character may be object of my invention is to described in which a plurality of rotatably mounted discs are used, each of the discs having legends imprinted thereon, the legends consisting of sets of four of a like character,
and so arranged that no two legends of the same character are on apparent therefore that character may the same disc.
four legends of like be disclosed at one time, pro- It is vided the discs are in the proper position, thus making what is known in card games as four of a kind.
A further object of my invention is to provide a game of the character described by means of which card in which the shuflimg of the played and games may be cards by each player is entirely obviated.
A. further object of my invention 1s to provide a game of the character described that is compact in form and in which there are no loose parts which might become lost in handling or transporting the game.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification,
and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of an embodiment of my invention, a portion broken away, and
Figure 2 line 2-2 of Figure 1.
is a sectional view along the In carrying out my invention, I make use of a casing 1 having front panel 2 which is secured to the caslng after the interior mechanism of the game has been inserted.
Serial No. 594,595.
Th panel 2 is secured to the casing 1 by means of a celluloid cement where the easing and panel are made of celluloid. Ordinarily, I prefer to construct the casing and panel of white celluloid. The ends of the casing are curved as shown at 3, which obviates the presence of sharp corners that might mutilate the pocket of a wearer when the game is carried about.
The interior mechanism of the game comprises a metal sheet 4L which closely fits the casing and which rests against the inner wall 5 of the rear wall 6 of the casing.
The sheet .t is provided with three raised portions or bosses 7 that are formed in the sheet by drawing the metal in a manner well known in the art. Each of these bosses is provided with an opening 8 therethrough, in which a rivet of the rivetbeing arranged to extend toward the panel 2. Two additional openings 10 are punched through the sheet 4: midway between the bosses 7 and on a line with the openings 8. Rivets 11 are set in the openings 10 and likewise extend toward the panel 2.
A. disc 12 of celluloid having an opening 13 centrally located therein, is rotatably mounted upon each of the rivets 9 and 11. The diameters of the discs 12 are such that a portion of the disc protrudes above the upper wall 14: of the casing 1 and the panel 2. The panel 2 is provided with an arcuate recess 15 in its upper wall for each of the discs 12. This recess 15 is of a suflicient breadth to permit slightly less than one quarter of the disc to be visible therethrough.
Each of the discs 12 is divided into eight sectors and each of the sectors is marked with a legend designating one of forty cards of a deck of ordinary playing cards. I choose to eliminate the cards fron'i deuccs to fours, inclusive, and use the higl'ier cards on the discs. The legends on the discs 12 are arranged so that there are never more than four aces, four kings, four sights, etc, visible through the recesses 15 as the discs are rotated.
Means for preventing the sheet t from moving toward the panel 2 is provided in rivets 16 which pass through the sheet 4: and the rear wall 6 of the casing 1.
From the foregoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation. thereof may be readily understood. In op- 9 is set, the body portion ceased, in: their movement, one w of the; eight legends on each of the discs: will be visible through the recess. 15. The visible legends will indicate the-valueof the hand;,such asI a straight four of akind or any other, well known, combination of cards.
The players, then make what necessary bidsthereare or place, what, chips? area-equired on the tablegin aocondancewiththe rules ofithe game, and the game-may proceed in: precisely the same mannen as; though cards,- were usedgin placeof a nechanical dev ce-I One of the important advantages of my invention is that' amis deal, that is, one card too many. or, one; card} short, is absolutelyor the casing l of the" The, deal, or: the equivalent to always exact, c since; the recesses such dimension that only one entire sectorof the disc may be seen at one time. It is true that a portion of each of the sectors may show through the recess 15, but that one which shows the greatest areais taken for the sector, the legend on which is to count. i
