IMPRVEMENT IN ELEVATRBUCKETS.v
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 165,543, dated July 13, 1875 application tiled January 25, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN B. CLINE, of Jefferson, in the county of Greene and in the State Vof Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Elevator-Cups; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this speciication.
The nature ot' my invention consists in the construction of an elevator-bucket, as will be hereinafterl more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the ait to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operationrefer-, ring to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure l is a view of the blank as cut from the sheet metal, before being folded to form the bucket. Fig. 2 is a perspective View ot the bucket as completed and provided with a binding-band.
My elevator-bucket is cut in one piece from any suitable sheet metal, in the form shown in Fig. l, in which A is the back; B B, the ends; C, the front; D D, the bands, and a a the edges or flanges of the front to bind the ends of t-he cup. This blank is cut out by suitable dies, and folded in a machine for that purpose. It is first folded onV the lines b b, bringing the sides B B, flanges a. a, and bands D D in proper position with relation to the back A and front G. It is then bent on the line d, and the front C curved along For buckets of large size I use a binding band, G, on its edges, as shown in Fig. 2.
The bucket is fastened to the elevator-belt by means of rivets passing through the back A and the ends of the bands D D, and when the binding-band Gis used said rivets also pass through the ends of the same.
I am aware that an elevator-cup made from a single piece of metal is not new; hence I do not claim such, broadly, as my invention. Nor do I broadly claim a band placed around the top edges of an elevator-cup, inasmuch as such has been known.
Having thus fully described my invention, what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The elevatorcup described, made from a single piece of l metal, cut to form the part A, with ends B B, centralpiece C, with narrow strips a c, and bottom projecting bands D D, all as shown in Fig. l, and then bent into shape, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 14th day of December, 1874.
JOHN B. CLINE.
