My present invention relates generally to infants clothing, and has particular reference to waterproof baby pants.

The ordinary employment of diapers of absorbent material is frequently accompanied by the added employment of rubber or waterproof devices, suchas pants, particularly where the infant 1s being transported from place to lace, and 1n general, whenever it is inexpe ient promptly to attend to a change ofdiapers. The waterproof device is of course a protection .for the body and clothing outsideot` the devlce, but although the outside area 1s thus Aprotected, the infants body, through constant contact with 'the absorbent--particularly afterthe latter is wet-is subjected to chang and general discomfiture which is not only kunpleasant but decidedly unsanitary.

One object of the present invention is to provide a device having all the desirable characteristics of ordinary waterproof pants or similar protections, and having structural features which tend to relieve the disadvantages illustratively mentioned above.

Briefly, my invention l contemplates the provision ofv a waterproof device havmga double bottom, the outer bottom serving 1n one sense as the equivalent of the ordinary bottom of plain pants, and the inner bottom serving as a protective layer for the infants body itself; the absorbent bein accommodated between the bottoms. oxrender the absorbent useful and eiective, I provide a series of relatively small perforations in the inner bottom, whereby the absorbent itself will be constantly separated from contact with' the bali s body.

One feature o my invention resides in providing a. structure wherein a body Vportion including the usual leg o enings and includin' the inner bottom re erred to, is comp of -an integral layer of material.

Another feature o my invention-resides in provi the outer bottom as a separate layer of similar material, this underlay being marginally attached to the body portion in such a manner that the absorbent element-or pad between the'bottoms will be securely retained against all of the perforations. In this way the absorbent element 22 is firmly retain against al1 of theperforations 13.

The advanta es of the device will vbe apparent from t e description given. It is to be noted that the element 22 is protectedfrom contact with the body of the infant, and accordingly undesirable chaing which might be caused by such contact is totally avoided. At the same time, the element 22 is securely retained Within the pocket when the device is in use, and in this-way, the device fulfills the desirable` functions of an ordinary pair of rubberized or waterproof pants.

It will be obvious that many changes in the details herein described and illustrated for the purpose of explaining the nature of my invention may be made b those skilled in the art Without departing rom the spirit and scope of the invention as expressed in the appended claims. It is theretofore intended that these details be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A pair of Waterproof baby pants comprising a body portion of non-absorbent Waterproof material which includes spaced leg openings, the bottom between said openings being perforated; and an additional and unperforated bottom portion, also of nonabsorbent Waterproof material, underlying said irst-mentoned bottom at only approximately the crotch portion of said pants to provide a pocket between said bottoms for the reception of absorbent material; said underlay having its opposite side edges securely attached to the body portion throughout an extent which retains said absorbent material firmly against all the rforations, and the end ortlon of said un erlay being rovided wit means for detachably securmg it to the body portion. v

2. A pair of waterproof baby pants comprising a body ortion of non-absorbent waterproof material which includes spaced leg openings, the bottom between said openings being perforated; and an additional and unperforated bottom portion also of non-absorbent waterproof material, underlying said first-mentioned bottom at onl approximately the crotch portion of sai pants to provide a pocket between said bottoms for the reception of absorbent material said underla having its medial portion securely attac led at its edges to the body portion, and having an end portion provided with means for detachably securing it to the body portion.

3, A pair of waterproof baby pants having the usual leg openings and provided with a double bottom therebetween for the reception of an absorbent pad; the inner bottom having a series of relatively small pertorations therein and the outer bottom )eing unperorated; whereby the babys body, and also the area outside of the pants, is protected from Contact with the absorbent material; said outer bottom being detachable at least in tom to provide rea y access to the space between said bottoms while said pants are in position on the body of the baby.
