My present invention has reference to a combined letter sheet and envelope, and my object is the provision of an article of this character that comprises a main sheet divided l by a central weakened line into two sections, the said sections in turn being divided by fold lines arranged transversely with respect to the weakened line into smaller sections, each of which constitutes respectively a front, a body and a back, the fronts, at the outer 1928. Both the body and back of the main section 3 are designed to have their inner faces employed as writing spaces or to have printed or otherwise stamped thereon indicia relative to goods offered for sale by a merchant when the device is to be employed as a mailing card by-merchants. The body and back 10 of the main section 3 are designed to have written thereon a reply to the indicia on the small sections 7 and 8 of the main section 2, the said reply being either in the nature of a response to an ordinary letter written on the main section 2 or an order for goods from the merchant on the main section 2. In forwarding the device the sheet is folded upon the line 1, and thereafter the backs of the sections are folded over the body portions thereof and the front of the sections are folded over the backs. The sealing flap 13 on the main section 3 is folded inwardly against the back 10 but the sealing flap 12 on the main section 2 is adhesively connected to the back 9. The device is now forwarded to the person whose address 14 appears upon the front 5. After the epistle or mailing card is received the sealing flap 12 is out along its fold line and after the indicia upon the main section 2 has been read by the receivera response thereto is written upon the section 3 as previously stated. The main section 3 is now detached from the main section 2 along the weakened line 1, and the same with the reply written thereon is folded in a manner as above described and the flap 13 is adhesively connected to the outer face of the body 7 of the main section 2. As stated, the name of the sender is inscrbed on the outer face of the front 6, and the folded letter sheet and envelope is stamped and returned to the sender.

In Figure 9 I have illustrated a slight modification. In this figure a paper sheet approximately of the same size as that previously described is employed, and is centrally divided by a perforated or-otherwise weakened line 16 into main sections 17 and 18, respectively. These main sections are in turn divided from each other b transverse fold lines I 19 and 20 to provide ronts 19 and 20, as

well as body portions 21, 22, 23 and 24, respectively. The front 20 and the body portions 22, 23 and 24 are of the same width, but the front 19' and the body portion 21 have their edges formed with extensions 25 and 26, respectively. The extension 26, in a line with the outer edge of the body 23, is treated with an adhesive as indicated by the numeral 27, and the outer end of the front 19' is provided with a' sealing flap 28 which is also treated with an adhesive. The front 19' is provided with a window 29 and the front 20 has its opposite faces inscribed, respectively, with the name of the sender and the name of the addressee. The name of the addressee is visible through the window 29 when the device is folded along the weakened line 16. The front 20, adjacent to its outer end, for a suitable distance along its edges, is treated with an adhesive 28.

In sending a communication recorded on an envelope as just described, the section 18 is folded over the section 17 on the perforated line 16. The lapping bodies 23 and 24 are then folded over the bodies 21 and 22 on the fold line 20, and the folding front portions 19 and 20 are now folded on the score line 19 to bring the same over the body 24. The adhesive 27 is moistened so that the extensions 26 and 25 will be connected. The several sheets of the envelope have their edges in a line with the score lines 19 and 20 notched, the said notches serving as guides as well as facilitating the folding of the sheets. When the device is folded, as above described, the name of the person to whom the device is to be sent, which is inscribed on the inner face of the front 20' will appear through the window 29 and in completing the sealing action the adhesive flap 28 is folded over and adhesively secured to the outer face of the body 23. It is to be noted that the extensions 25 and 26 project beyond the edge of the body portion 23, so that the adhesive 27 will not adhere thereto nor to the folded sheet providedby the body 18. The sheet 18 is detached from the sheet 17 when the same reaches the receiver, and the sheet 18, after suitable data relative to a mercantile order has been inscribed thereon is folded along the fold lines 19 and 20, the adhesive 28 is moistened and the front 20' is thus connected to the back of the body 24, and this portion of the sheet is mailed to the sender. The body 18 is so formed as to conceal the name of the addressee but disclose the name of the original sender on the front 20'.

The device is returned by folding and sealing the flaps so that the name of the sender ofthe device which appears on the rear face of the front 20 will be presented.

Having described the invention, I claim:

A letter sheet divided by a central line of perforations into two mam bodies, and the said bodies being divided by fold lines into central and end sheets, and one of each of the end sheets providing a front, one of said fronts having on its opposite faces the names of the sender and the addressee and the second front having a window through which the name of the addressee is visible when the bodies are folded against each other, said front sheet and the central sheet attached thereto havin lateral extensions, and that on the front Iiaving its inner face treated with an adhesive, said window carrying front having its end formedwith a flap extension its outer end and along a. portion of which is also treated with an adhesive and the other front sheet having its face adjacent its edges likewise treated with an adhesive, the main bodies when folded along the perforated line and folded upon the score lines designedto have the extensions thereon adhesively connected and the said flap extension on-the window carrying sheet designed when folded over a the adjacent sheet to be adhesively connected thereto.
