This invention relates to dispensing packages, and aims to provide an easily manufactured non-refillable dispensing package for granular, pulverized, and siinilarrmaterials.
A dispensing package embodying the invention is provided with a permanently Vattached sifter top, within which is held a ilexible closure which effectively prevents the material contained in the package from passing out through the openings in the sifter top during storage or transportation. The closure is so arranged that it may easilyV be displaced by means of an instrument through an opening in the sifter top to permit the material in the package to be sifted out through the sifter top, while at the same time the package'is incapable of being refilled.

Fig. 1 is a vertical central section of a dispensing package;
Fig. 2 is a top view of the package; and Fig; 3 is an enlarged side view of the `sifter top partly in section.
The dispensing package illustrated inf cludes acontainer 10 having an Vopening 11 at its top. The container 10 is shown as of cylindrical shape but maybe of any desired Y form." For convenience, the part 12 of the container located immediately below the opening 11 will be referred tol as its neck. Y The container is provided with asifter cap 13 which is permanently attached to its neck 12. The cap hasa top 14 provided with holes 15, and a side flange 16 to lit over thernecky of the container and which, in this instance, is cylindrical. This side flange is provided, at some distance from the top 14, with an internal shoulder 17. This shoulder may bean interrupted shoulder formed by knurling the upper portion of the side ange, as shown.-
The lower port-ion of the flange 16 below the shoulder 17 fits tightly around the neck 12 thereto by cementing or otherwise.' The shoulder 17, by engaging the top edge of the pressed as it,` is forced past, the lshoulder .17,
An illustrative embodiment of the invenf` 20 tion is shown in the the'upper of vneckandithe y surfaceof the'top 14tfof the'c'ap;` A.y closure disk -20,which is most desirably-flexible and to some extent resilient, .isplaced in the cap Y before the cap is `lapplied to the container.

The openings in the cap will thus be unsealed, and a free flow of the contents of the container through the openings 4in 'the'cap will be permitted.l `f f It should be notedthat' thethickness of the closure 20 is less than the space provided beg tween the under surface of the top 14% ofthe thefiange .16, as'sh'owmthe internal ridges formed: by the-knurl'ing aid .in .holding the cap and the upperedge of the neck 12KV of the 95 container,so lthat ready displacementY of thef closure in thefmanner describedis notinter- K,
