ARMLET Application filed March 19,1931, "Serial nd; 523,853;
An object of the invention is to provide an armlet to be worn with a-glove, the armlet having a wrist portion under which the upper portion of the glove is normally. disposed. The armletwith a glove serves as amousquetaire and the glove may be removed without displacing the armlet. This avoids the difiiculty which a woman must contend with in wearing the usual mousquetaire, for when a 'mousquetaire is worn the glove portion of the.
mousquetaire is permitted to hang, or is tucked under the arm portion of the mousquetaire when the hand portion is removed from the hand. In either case this is objectionable. The gloves covering the hands, and which are worn with the armlets which are the subject matter of this application, may be of the same color as the armlets, or the armlets and gloves may be of contrasting colors ormaterials. With the armlets, which are the subject matter of this application, the gloves worn therewith may be removed without displacing the armlets.
The armletsmay be adjusted on awomans arms more readily than is possible with the arm portions of the mousquetaires and the same'armlets may be used with different pairs of gloves. As there is little wear to the armlets and as the gloves are relatively inexpensive, there'is a great saving in using the armlets instead of mousquetaires, which are quite expensive.
Inasmuch as the inner ends of the gloves will not be secured to the armlets, there will be some freedom of movement of the wrist portions of the glove relatively to the arm lets and the movement of the handsof the wearer will not pull on the arm-lets to displace the armlets. This avoids another objection to the mousquetai-re where the hand portions and the arm portions are ofone piece of material and any movement of the hand portion serves to pull on the arm portion of the mousquetaire.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form ofthe invention is described. 5 In the drawing similar reference characters refertosimilar parts in allthe views,of which kw r a 5 T "Figure- 1 is a perspective view illustrating the manner in which the armlet maybe worn withaglove, o 5 Figure 2is a view showing in elevation the Y armlet, 1 p v 7 Figure 3 is a sectional fragmentary view illustrating-the manner in which the lower portion of the armlet-is constructed, and Figure 4 is a view showing a modifiediform of the invention. j l V- v I By referring to the drawing it will be seen that the'a-rmlet A is preferablymade of'one piece of material with a longitudinally ex- .65
tending seam 10 whichpreferably is disposed at the underside of the armlet: The bottom of the armlet A is turned outwardly and upwardly at 11 and is secured to the body of the armlet by stitchingv or by other means at 12, the turned-out portion extending outwardly and downwardly at 13vto' 1 1, the stitches at 12 engaging the turned-in portion of the armlet adjacent its upper point 15 to hold the parts in position, of the drawing. a 1 In the tunnel 16 formed by the outwardly and downwardly turned portion 13 and the inwardly and upwardly turned portion 151,
there is disposed around the armlet an elastic $9 member 17 which is secured to the outer portion 18 0f the tunnel by means ofstitchesat 19 and 20.4 These stitches preferablyextend longitudinally of the armlet so that they will not interfere with the tendency of the elastic member 17 to hold the lower portion of the armlet at its tunnel 16,wi-th folds extending longitudinally of the armlet and: as illustrated in Figures 1 and '2 of the drawing. I-n wearing the armlet it is adjusted on the arm of the wearer,.as illustrated in Figure 1, the] elastic member 17 serving. to hold the lower portion of the armlet at the wrist of the wearer, =it beingpossible to wearthis armlet withzor. without gloves, butxpreferabily the 1 armlet'will be worn with gloves, as illus- --trated' in Figurejl. When afglooVe 2'1..-is also worn, theupper portion j22'of1the glove will preferably be disposed under and within the lower portion of the armlet A, wheresitlwill iI00 as illustrated in Figure 3 7.5
' glove will be yieldingly held by action of the elastic member 17, which serves to hold the lower ortion of the armlet in position to yieldingly engage an upper portion 22 of the glove at the wrist of the wearer.
In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figure 4,.the armlet B has an opening 23 which extends through its lower edge 24, there being securing means for holding the sides of the armlet B at its opening 23 close together. cured to the armlet at one side of its opening 23 and a buttonhole 26 is made in the armlet at the other side of itsopening 23, .so that wearer, the button may be disposed in the buttonhole 26 to hold the lower portion of; the
armlet 24, around and closeto the wrist.
NVhen a glove is worn-with thearmlet B the be adjusted in position with its portion 22'disposed at the wrist, when the lower portion of the armlet B may be secured againstthe upper portion 22 of the glove by means of the button 25 and the buttonhole 26. Preferably the button 25 and the buttonhole 26 are at the inner sideof the armletand the outer side of the armlet is preferably pro.-
vided with an extending portion 27 which will be disposed at the back of the glove.
. Itswill be understood that the invention includesan armlet having a wrist end with any desired means, for holding portions otthe Wrist end relatively to each other. it will also be understood that the armlet maybe decorated with any kind of design which may be produced by any desired means and with any desired material.
