The drawers or pants thus constructed can be adjusted by the wearer to the size, of his body when he grows fatter or thinner, or after meals. Furthermore the garment according to the invention can be kept in stock in considerable quantities, since it can be regulated to different sizes.
One form of construction of the invention, as applied to gentlemens drawers, is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 shows the garment buttoned up, while Figure 2 illustrates the drawers in an unbuttoned condition.
The pair of drawers as illustrated in the drawing comprises a body having leg portions and provided with a slit opening in the front extending approximately to the crotch.
The waist-belt or girdle A of the drawers is extended at both ends to form belt members or extensions (11 and am. To the belt A are sewn, at equal distances at apart, the distance d amounting to about three or four centimeters, a number of buttons (preferably six or seven) 01, c2, 03, c4, 05, C6, while in the other extended end of the girdle A are formed button-holes f, the distance between which is equal to 2d. The number of buttons is at least twice as great as the number of buttonholes.
Into the three button-holes f can be buttoned as required the buttons, 01, c3 and 05, or, as Figure 1 shows, the buttons 02, c4 and as. If necessary only the buttons as and 05 or the buttons 04 and as need be employed.
The front opening or slit of the drawers is covered, by the flap e at each adjustment.
The back portion of the drawers is smooth, whereby material is saved, and the cost of manufacture reduced. The garment according to the invention lies against the body without creases at every adjustment. 15
The garment according to the invention may also be employed as bathing drawers or as rowing shorts.
What I claim is:
A pair of drawers comprising a body having leg 2() portions and provided with a slit on the front extending approximately to the crotch, a waist belt carried with the top of the body and having overlapping extensions projecting beyond the slit at the front, a row of buttons equally spaced apart 25 on the inner extension of the belt and the adjacent inner part of the belt, the outer extension of the belt and the adjacent main part of the belt having a series of equally spaced apart button holes, a flap secured to the lower edge of the inner 0 extension of the belt and to the adjacent edge of the slit in the body in order to form an inner closure for the slit in every adjusted position of the drawers and the distance between the adjacent button holes being twice as great as the dis- 35 tance between adjacent buttons.
