- U.S. Pat. No. 6,044,774 relates to a padded table top corner protector system. The table top corner protector comprises a cord with a central extent and a pad of a triangular configuration located over the corner of a table. The pad is formed from an initial sheet to form a composite fabric with parallel long edges and parallel short edges.
- U.S. Pat. No. 6,116,162 relates to a combination protective bumper and place mat, which is removably attachable to any furniture edge.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,817,902 relates to a corner protector assembly for the cushioned covering of corners of tables so as to prevent harmful collisions between young children and the furniture. The protector assembly comprises a resilient inner core which is corner shaped and matable to a corner of the furniture. The cover is readily removable.
- US Patent Publication No. 2002/0195907 relates to convertible furniture kit which includes several pieces of furniture which can be combined in one way to produce an infant changing table and in another way to produce a desk. The furniture kit includes a table, drawer, chest and an infant changer.
- US Patent Publication No. 2003/0078309 relates to a foam cushion and method of making and using the same. The foam cushion is formed from (a) at least one of rubber and a resin; (b) a blowing agent; (c) a polymeric adhesion modifier; (d) a decomposition accelerating agent and (e) a cross-linking agent.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,908,681 relates to a protective table cover for preventing injuries caused by sharp corners and edges of coffee and end tables. The device includes a cover member dimensioned for covering a top of a table. The cover member has a peripheral channel secured around an outer periphery thereof.
- US Patent Publication No. 2004/0016372 relates to furniture having interchangeable parts and methods therefore. The furniture has a plurality of interchangeable leg members. Cross-bar members are removably coupled to the plurality of leg members. The cross-bar members are adjustable in length. Cross-bar covers are removably coupled to the cross-bar members. A table top is removably coupled to the cross-bar covers.
- In the prior art it is known to attach rubber stopper to corners of tables or to wrap a table with a cushion temporarily to protect an infant or small child from injuring themselves.
- The present invention comprises a table designed for preventing injury to people, especially infants and small children. It is an object of the present invention for the table to comprise a coffee table or an end table. It is an object of the present invention for the table to incorporate a foam rubber padding on and around the perimeter of the table and on any surface or edge that is exposed. It is an object of the present invention to incorporate a foam rubber padding on the legs of the table.
- It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be built into the table in a way that it matches the table. It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be incorporated into the table in an eye appealing way. It is an object of the present invention for the design to be made to enable the padding to be interchangeable. It is an object of the present invention for the table to have smooth rounded contours on the edges and corners. It is an object of the present invention to reduce the sharpness of any corners or edges.
- It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be permanently attached to the table. It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be fastened by using a channel type or tongue and groove type design. It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be raised slightly from the table surface. It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be level with the table surface.
- It is an object of the present invention for the padding to be permanently attached to the table and further that a covering such as a wood covering that matches with the rest of the table to fit over the padding when it is not needed.
