Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present Invention relates generally to games of chance and, particularly, to a combination of Cards and Dice for accumulating points to determine the winner by combining the result of the roll of the die and drawing of cards after completion of one round of play.
  • 2. Discussion of the Relevant Art
  • The art abounds with numerous types of Card games, which include the use of one or more dice; however the one described and claimed herein is believed to be novel.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The Cards utilized herein are special cards with the following characteristics: A plurality of cards totalizing fifty_six (56) cards with fifty (50) cards with Indicia of their point value of each card depicted by five equal numbers at five places on the face of the card. The distribution of the point value of each of the sixty-two cards is: (10) cards depicting their point value by the number one (1); ten (10) cards depicting their point value by the number two (2); ten (10) cards depicting their point value by the member three (3); ten (10) cards depicting their point value by the number four (4); ten (10) cards depicting their point value by the number five (5). In addition there are six (6) cards with indicia depicting the symbol “$”.
  • A plurality of cards with indicia of the points accumulated by each player after each play is also required.
  • A six-faced die with indicia on each face of the point value depicted by three equal numbers on each face. The point value on each face of the die ranges from one (1) to five (5) matching the point number range of the play cards. The sixth face will depict the “$” sign.
  • A plurality of chips utilized for placing the game-established bet.
  • The game requires a plurality of players with two (2) players as a minimum and seven (7) players as a maximum.
  • The aforementioned game also requires a dealer to draw the cards and to keep record of the points accumulated by each player after each player completes the round of play.
  • The play of the game starts by the players each placing one established bet and concludes after each player has played one round of the game. The dealer reserves the choice of establishing the number of rounds per game and bet value before starting of the game. The winner is decided by the player that has the largest accumulation of points after the established number or been played.
  • The present invention overcomes the shortcomings found in the prior art by providing a gambling game well suited to be used in legal gambling Casinos which can be run without stopping until closing time, as well as a parlor game wherein the player can set a limit of play based on time or amount won or lost.
  • Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide an exciting, entertaining and simple wagering game with the number of players-being limited by a minimum of two (2) and by a maximum of seven (7). The number of players defines the multiplier of the initial bet as well as establishing the chances.
  • One Intention of this game, by keeping the bet fixed, is to minimize chances to cause a compulsory behavior by inducing a player to increase the bet to make up for previous losses. It is basically an entertaining game with the possibility of increasing the initial bet by only playing more rounds but not by increasing the amount risked above the initial bet.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a combination card and dice game that includes a player's reserved area where the cards are drawn face up by the dealer and an additional area where the die is rolled.
  • The table is shaped as a half of a dodecahedron with walls to bounce the die and minimize the chances for the die from leaving the playing field.
  • The table surface Is divided Into a plurality of generally pie shaped areas extending outwardly from a centrally disposed apex and limited by inner and outer semicircles that will define seven (7) discrete areas, each one assigned to each player. Each of these discrete areas will be used by the dealer to place the card(s) drawn by the dealer for each player as well as to place Indicia of the points accumulated by each player after card draws and dice rolls at each round of play and to place the player's being chip.
  • The area extending from the outer semicircle to the walls of the table would be dedicated to the roll of the die and will be utilized by all players.
  • This game was intentionally designed to be easy to learn and to play by keeping the rules very simple and to a minimum.
  • Unlike other Casino games where the casino banks the game and includes rules that give the bank a slight advantage over the players during the playing of the game, COBE does not require a bank. Instead, the deafer and all the players have the same chances to win. COBE is a pan-mutual betting game where the earnings of the deafer are guaranteed to be limited to a fixed percentage of the sum of all bets placed by the players.
  • The foregoing and other objects and advantages will appear in the description to follow. In the description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof and in which is shown by way of illustration a preferred embodiment wherein the invention may be practiced. The preferred embodiment will be described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention and it is to be understood that other embodiments may be utilized and that some changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
  • The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present invention Is best defined by the appended Claims. Like numerals have been used in the alternative embodiment for like areas to simplify the understanding of the invention.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a combination card and dice game that does not require any skills in cards or dice and playing for points accumulated by the roll of the dice or the draw of cards.
  • The purpose of the game is the accumulation of points and determination of the winner by the accumulation of the majority number of points.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In order that the invention may be more fully understood, it will now be described byway of example, with reference to tie accompanying drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1A depicts COBE field of play top view as well as a top view of the table supporting the field of play.
  • FIG. 1B depicts a front view of the table that supports the COBE field of play.
  • FIG. 1C depicts a side view of the fable supporting the COBE field of play.
  • FIG. 2 depicts the typical configuration of the cards used to play COBE.
  • FIG. 3 depicts the configuration: of the die required to play COBE.
  • FIG. 4 depicts the configuration of the chips used to place bets to play COBE
  • FIG. 5: depicts a typical point's card.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring now to the figures, and in particular to FIG. 1 a, there is shown a typical playing surface, identifier 5, upon which the present game of chance, named COBE by the inventor thereof, may be played.
  • The playing surface 5 is divided Into seven generally pie shaped areas, identifier 4, extending outwardly from an apex and limited by the semicircle 3 on the inside and semicircle 8 on the outside.
  • These seven pie shaped areas are numbered from right to left, from one (1) to seven (7) as corresponding to the location of the player around the playing field. These seven pie shaped areas will be dedicated to each corresponding player and will serve as a field where the cards drawn by the dealer for each corresponding player are to be placed with their face up as welt as the player's bet.
  • Each pie shaped area will have slots, identifier 7, where the dealer will insert cards with indicia of the points accumulated by each player alter completing their play.
  • As shown extending from the outer semicircle 8 is the semicircular area 6, designated to be used by all the players to roll the dice.
  • Seven chairs are placed about each of the seven sides of the playing table for the convenience of the players.
  • The area 1 inward of area 2, at approximately the apex, is set aside for the dealer to stand.
  • Area 2 delimited by semicircle 3 and area 1 is reserved for the dealer as a place to perform the functions as required to ensure orderly development of the game.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • A combination Card and Dice game where points are adjudicated to the player based on the combination of rolling the dice once and drawing of cards as indicated by the roll of the dice, or conversely drawing one card and rolling the dice as many times as indicated by the Number on the card.
  • The purpose of the game is to accumulate points to determine the winner by the player with the most number of points as the winner. The game includes: a playing area where the cards are drawn face up by the dealer: a die with six faces with indicia on each face of a number from one to five with the sixth face depict a “$” sign; cards totalizing fifty-six (56) with a distribution of ten (10) cards depicting the number one (1); ten (10) cards depicting the number two (2); ten (10) cards depicting the numbers three (3); ten (10) cards depicting the number four (4); ten (10) cards depicting the number five (5); six (6) cards depicting the symbol “$”; plurality of cards with indicia of the points accumulated by each player after each round of play; and chips for the purpose of betting.
  • Roles of the Game How To Play COBE
  • COBE played with one die (as per Claim 1 B) and one deck of unique playing cards with a plurality of fifty-six (56) cards (as per Claim 1C).
  • Also, one of the faces of the die depicts the symbol “$” (as per Claim 1B).
  • The rules of the game are as follows:
  • 1) The card with indicia on its face depicting the symbol “$” will have the value of 0 (zero) In regard to accumulation of points.
  • 2) In the event that the player chooses to draw a card or conversely roll the die at the beginning of that player's round and the face of the die or the face of the drawn card depicts the symbol “$”, the player will be entitled to a subsequent single action of drawing a card or of rolling the die. If the result of the subsequent action of the drawing of the card or rolling of the die is the symbol “$” the player will be adjudicated 25 (twenty five) points. If the result of the subsequent action of the drawing of the card or rolling of the die is a number other than the symbol “$”, the player will be adjudicated the corresponding number of points depicted by the numeral on the face of the card or the die resulting from drawing a card or conversely rolling the die one time.
  • 3) In the event the player chooses to either draw the card or roll the die at the beginning of the player's round and results in the numeral 1 through 5, the player is entitled to roll the die as many time as to such indicated by the numeral on the drawn card or makes the dealer draw as many card(s) as indicated by the numeral on the face of the die.
  • The total points accrued by the player after executing the subsequent following action is the sum of numerals only (The Symbol “$” at this instance have zero value) that appear on the face of the card(s) or on the face up of the die after each permitted die roll sequence
  • 4) The adjudication of the award for the winner will be the total accumulation of basic bets (one for each player) minus the pre-established percentage that will be adjudicated to the dealer based on the number of players playing the game.
  • It is the intention that one deck of cards be required to play the game; but is recognized that the addition of more deck of cards will make more random the outcome.
  • The preceding detailed description about using one or more set of unique COBE cards is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present invention reserves the right to increase the number of playing decks to satisfy the possible desire of players to more random draws of cards.
  • Example of How the Game is played
  • The game starts with each player providing a bet that is placed by the dealer in the player's area. The player closer to the dealer in clockwise direction chooses to either draw a card or roll the die.
  • CHOOSING A CARD. Once the decision is made, the dealer turns over one card (of course after they have been shuffled and cut).
  • The Card that is placed on the player field turned face up becomes the determining number of rolls of the die in accordance with the numeral on the face of the card (card values range from 1 to 5)
  • If at the beginning of the round a player chooses to draw a card and the drawn card depicts the symbol “$” the player will be entitled to one roll of the die. If the result of the roll of the die is “$” the player is awarded twenty five (25) points;
  • If the result is something other than “$”, the player will be adjudicated the point value depicted by the indicia on the face of the die rolled by the player.
  • As an example, assuming that the dealer draws a card with the numeral five, the player is entitled to roll the die five times. The dealer will keep record of the value of each roll of the die by placing on the player field a point card depicting the number that turned face up on the die on each roll of the die. Continuing with our example, if the player rolls a “1” on the first roll and in successive rolls pulls 2, 3, 4 and 5, the dealer will place on the player field the point cards “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” and “5”.
  • At the end of the player's successive rolls of the die, the dealer will place one point card in the slot in the players field indicating the total of accumulated points; in this example, the point card would be “15” (fifteen), indicating 15 points.
  • CHOOSING THE DIE. Conversely the player at the beginning of the round may chose to roll tie die. The number on the face of the die will indicate the number of cards the dealer will draw and place In the player's field.
  • If at the beginning of the round the player chooses to roll the die and the symbol “$” turned face up on the die when the die is stationary, the dealer will draw a card. If the card depicts the symbol “$”, the dealer will adjudicate to the player twenty five (25) points. If the drawn card depicts any of the numerals from 1 to 5 the dealer will adjudicate points matching the numeral of the drawn card.
  • As an example, if the player rolls a “3”, the dealer will draw three (3) cards with assumes cards indicia of “2”, “3” and “$”. The indicia denoting the value on the face of each card will be totaled for the player. In this example, the total would be: “2”+“3”+“0”=“5” points. Once the game is finished, the dealer then adjudicates the winner by determining which player accumulated the highest number of points based on the points depicted by the “point cards” placed in the slots in players fields.
  • General Comments About COBE
  • The skills of the players with cards do not come to play with COBE. It could be argued that by successfully counting the number of cards shown, the player could predict when to elect to draw cards or to roll the die. This of course is easier with one deck as opposed to multiple decks.
  • The player at the left of the dealer is the player that will play the initial round and the order of playing for the plurality of players will be defined by a clockwise rotation. Unlike other casino games where the casino banks the game and includes rules that give the bank an advantage over the players during the playing of the game, COBE does not require a bank, but simply a dealer. The dealer does not play or collect winnings other than the pre-established percentage share. Unlike other casino games, since the house does not bank the game, there is no special play advantages reserved for the house. In COBE, all the players have the same chances to win.
  • COBE is a pari-mutuel betting game where the earnings of the dealer is guaranteed to be limited to the amount of the basic bet for each game played.
  • Herein before has been disclosed a game of chance that combines the elements of playing cards together with the roll of a die.
  • Having thus set forth the nature of the invention, what is claimed is described in detail in the preceding THREE CLAIMS paragraph:
  • Research of the Current Art
  • A search of the current art produced a list of patented dice and card wagering games that were Investigated by the Inventor of COBE to determine if the existing art exhibits any of the unique aspects of COBE.
  • It was found upon review of the aforementioned patents that COBE has unique features that do not infringe on what Is claimed as unique by the patented game.
  • The results of the research of the art are:
