' This invention relates to the protection of garments from rain, snow, sleet and splashing and the protection of the limbs from cold and winds.

Broadly, it is an object of my invention to provide a means and form of protection which may be slipped over the lower part of the trousers used by men and over the hose worn by women in order to protect such clothing and the person against inclement weather.

Another object is to provide an inexpensive article for such protection which can be readily applied and removed and which may be rolled or folded into a compact form for convenient carrymg.

Still another object of my invention is to provide an article for protecting the legs and garments of persons which will not interfere with the movements of the person nor will it injure the person or the clothing when worn as aprotection against bad weather.

Another object is to provide a protector which has creases designed to receive the front and back creases of the trousers in order to prevent the wrinkling of the trousers when the protectors are applied and to give the appearance of regular trousers below the coat. 7

Another specific object is to provide a means of attaching the protectors to the trousers and legs with little effort and with little loss of .time.

Another object is to provide protectors which will be held in position substantially out of close contact with the trouser and leg to allow air circulation and provide an insulating layer of air between the protector and the leg or trouser.

These and other objects will become apparent and are attained by the novel features of construction, combinations and relation of parts hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

Referring to the drawing,"numeral it indicates one of a pair of trouser protectors which may be made of moisture proof material. The protector In provides a substantially tubular body having open ends. The protector is of suflicient length to cover a trouser leg from slightly above the'kn'ee to the ankle and sufliciently wide to permit the trouser leg to be placed within the protector without crowding or creasing. . To properly use the trouser protector shown proper height, the clips it are attached. Slide bottom and rear edge, as shown in Fig. 2.

While the protector is worn, it will prevent rain, sleet and snow from wetting the bottom of the trousers and will also protect the trouser bottoms against becoming wet because of splashing or rain falling from the overcoat. In cold weather for football games and other outdoor events and for automobile outings, the protector will aid in keeping the legs warm.

To remove the protector shown in Figs. 1 and' 2, the slide fastener is opened, the clips are disconnected from the trousers and the protector is drawn over the shoe.

In the modification shown in Fig. 3, numeral 2| represents the cloth of a protector having a material 22 attached to the inside of the protector by stitching 23 part way up from the bottom. The lower end of material 22 has elastics 24 stitched into the material in order to create a gathered cuif 25 so that when the foot of a person passes through the cuff 25, the cut! will hug the ankle in order to prevent water, wind and cold from entering the protector. The upper portion of the protector has elastics 26 stitched into the material in order to gather the top of the material, creating the cuff 21, so that when the leg is passed through the top of the material, it will hug the thigh of the person and keep the upper part of the protector in position. This type of protector, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, is particularly adapted for women.

Fig. shows a modified form of protector very similar to that shown in Figs. 3 and 4, except that the lower portion of the protector has a cuff 28 giving it the appearance of the regulation cuff trousers usually worn by men.

It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

I claim:

1. In a trouser and leg protector of the character described, comprising a substantially tubular body having a generally vertical opening at its lower end portion and being adapted for receiving a trouser leg, the upper and lower ends of said protector being open, a slide fastener secured to the edge portions defining said opening and to a portion of said lower end opening and adapted to permit a foot to pass through said protector when said slide fastener is separated, said slide'fastener extending partly along the bottom edge portion of said tubular body and being thereby designed to contract the lower portion of said opening to form a pocket for a trouser leg, said opening being contractible sufficiently to closely circumscribe the leg of the user, overlapping flaps to conceal said slide fastener and clips disposed at the edges of said protector for attaching said protector to the creased portions of a trouser.

In a trouser and leg protector of the character described, comprising a substantially tubular body made of moisture proof fabric and having a generally vertical opening at its lower end portion and being adapted for receiving a trouser leg, the upper and lower ends of said protector being open, a slide fastener secured to the edge portions defining said opening and to a portion of the fabric at said lower end opening and being adapted to permit a foot to pass through said protector when said slide fastener is separated, said slide fastener extending partly along the bottom edge portion of said tubular body and being thereby designed to contract the lower portion of said opening to form a pocket for a trouser leg,,

said opening being contractible sufficiently to closely circumscribe the leg of the user, overlapping flaps concealing said slide fastener, and clips disposed at the edges of said protector for attaching said protector to the creased portions of a trouser.

In a trouser and leg protector of the character described, comprising a substantially tubular body made of moisture proof fabric and having a generally vertical opening at its lower end portion and being adapted for receiving a trouser leg, the upper and lower ends of said protector being open, said protector having vertical crease lines at opposite sides, a slide fastener secured to the edge portions defining said opening and to a portion of the fabric at said lower end opening and being adapted to permit a foot to pass through said protector when said slide fastener is separated, said slide fastener extending partly along the bottom edge of said tubular body and being thereby designed to contract the lower portion of said opening to form a pocket for a trouser leg, said opening being contractible suiilciently to closely circumscribe the leg of the user, and clips disposed at the creased edges of said protector for attaching said protector to the creased portions of a trouser leg.

4. In a trouser and leg protector of the character described, comprising a substantially tubular body having slit side walls providing a generally vertical opening therein, said protector being adapted for receiving a trouser leg, fastening means secured to the edge portions defining said
