This invention relates to a container having an outer transparent portion and an inner transparent portion for holding and displaying capsules or other contents placed therein, said portions adapted to cooperate with movable and fixed transparent closures for dispensing the contents.

Among the objects of my invention is to provide a container having an outer transparent shell and an inner transparent contents holding portion so positioned that the contents may be displayed with greater emphasis.

It has long been a problem where small quantities of a product are sold to provide a package of suitable size. If the package were large enough just to hold the product, the package was too small for convenient handling. If the package were larger than necessary, false bottoms, partitions or fillers were used, which tended to perpetrate a fraud on the buyer and the public. With my device with its double transparent construction, the outer transparent shell is of a size large enough for suitable handling, and the inner transparent shell is sufficiently small to properly hold the product. The transparency of my device openly displays the merchandise so that there is no misrepresentation to the buyer or public.

Among the further objects of my invention is to supply a container having an inner holding member so shaped as to direct the. contents therein to openings in the closures when the container is held in dispensing position. Another object is to provide a closure construction in which fixed and movable portions each having openings cooperate for dispensing the contents of the holding member. The construction of my device also provides for increased strength, rigidity and lasting wear.

My invention also contemplates such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.

While I have shown in the accompanying drawing a preferred form of my invention, yet I desire it understood that the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Referring to the drawing, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my container filled with tablets; Fig. 2 is a top plan view of my container in'normal closed position; Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the same, with the openings aligned in open position; Fig. 4 is an elevational view of my container; Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 55 of Fig. 4; Fig. 6 is an enlarged detailed vertical sectional view of my container, and Fig. 7 is an enlarged detailed sectional view showing the attachment of the body member, the holding member and the fixed closure.

Referring more particularly to the embodiment selected to illustrate my invention, it comprises a body member ID of transparent material. While I have shown the body member as a hollow cylinder in form, yet it may be a hollow cube or any other suitable shape. Attached to the body member 10 adjacent the lower portion I2 of its walls I3 is a bottom member 14 covering the open bottom of the body member ID. The bottom member I4 is preferably made (if opaque material.

The walls l3 of the body member in at their upper portion l5 are bent back on themselves to form a brief bent-back portion l6.

Extending across the open top of the body member ID is a transparent fixed closure ll. The fixed closure I! has a covering portion l8, the outer edges IQ of which are suitably attached to the inner parts of bent-back portion IS.

A transparent holding member 20, preferably in the shape of an inverted cone, has a body portion l l extending down within the hollow interior of the body member Ill. The upper portions 2| of the holding member 20 extend and are suitably held between the inner parts of upper portions l5 of walls l3 and the inner portions of bent-back portion l6 and the inner portions of edges IQ of fixed closure l1.

A transparent movable cover 22 with an upper portion 23 has side flange walls 24 which extend downwardly over the upper part of the walls l3 when the cover 22 is placed on the body member 10. The movable cover is of such a size as to permit its rotation with respect to the fixed closure I! therebeneath. The movable closure 22 has an opening 25 which upon rotation of the closure 22 may be moved to register with another larger opening 26 in the fixed closure l1. Since the opening 26 in the fixed closure l1 communicates with the holding member 20, when the openings 26 and 25 are in registry, the contents of the holding member 20 may be dispensed by tipping the body member It). By the moving of the movable closure 22 and its opening 25 away from opening 26 of the fixed closure l1, so that the openings 25 and 25 are not in registry, the movable closure 22 cooperates with the fixed closure IT in preventing undesired or accidental displacement of the contents of the holding member 20. In use my container is attractive and large in size, for the packaging of small quantities of a desired product. The outer shell or body member and the inner shell or holding member both being transparent provide an attractive display for the product. The double transparency construction provides a display container of maximum visibility. The buyer can see the product in its entirety before purchase. The holding member being positioned Within the body member emphasizes the attractiveness of the visible display.

The sloping walls 21 of the holding member 20 direct the contents toward the registered openings 25 and 26 when the body member I is tilted for dispensing the same.

My device is particularly useful for capsules and tablets because of the ease in dispensing a single unit at a time. It may also be used for bulk products in granulated or powdered form or for any product adapted to be dispensed therefrom.

The transparent portions of my device may be made of cellulose acetate, Celluloid, plastics, glass or any other suitable material, and said portions, excepting the movable closure, may be moulded in one piece or attached together by crimping, adhesives or any other suitable manner.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A container, display and dispenser comprising a transparent hollow body member, a transparent inverted cone having its upper edges attached to said body member and suspended within said body member, said cone adapted to hold contents to be dispensed, a fixed clo sure attached to said body member and covering the top of said cone, a movable closure rotatably positioned on the upper portion of said body member and above said fixed closure, said closures both having openings, said movable closure in normal position with its opening not in registry with the opening of said fixed closure, said movable closure rotatable for registering its opening with the opening of said fixed closure so that upon tilting of said body member, the contents of the cone may be directed toward said openings and dispensed therethrough.

2. A container, display and dispenser comprising a transparent body member having its upper walls briefly bent back on themselves to form a bent back position, a fixed transparent closure covering the top of said body member and having its outer portions attached to the inner portions of said bent back portion, a transparent inverted cone having its upper portions held between the inner upper portions of the walls of the body member and the outer portions of the fixed closure, said cone having sloping walls extending Within said body member, said cone adapted to hold units to be dispensed, a transparent movable closure rotatably positioned on the upper portion of said body member and above said fixed closure, said closures both having openings, said movable closure in normal position with its opening not in registry with the opening of said fixed closure, said movable closure rotatable for registering its opening with the opening of said fixed closure so that upon tilting of said body member, the units of the cone may be directed along the sloping Walls thereof toward said openings and dispensed therethrough.
