The invention relates to a, dispensing apparatus, and more especially to strip paper wetting devices.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein roll paper of strip form can be wetted when the said paper is drawn from the roll, the wettin being effected on one side only of such paper, when the latter is pulled upon for the unrolling thereof, the wetting liquid being either hot or cold.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, wherein the same is usable for wetting fabrics in strip form, as for example bandages or the like, cleaning cloths, or any other materials, the device being of unique and novel construction, the temperature of the liquid to be dispensed, being readily and easily controlled, so that such liquid may be either hot or cold, as the occasion may require.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in operation, automatic in the working thereof for the liquid dispensing, strong, durable, readily and easily operated, conveniently filled with the liquid to be dispensed, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which show the preferred and modified forms of construction of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a dispenser constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is a side view thereof.

Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 1 looking in the direction of the arrows.

Figure 4 is a rear view.

Referring to the drawings in detail, Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, the dispenser shown therein, comprises an elongated substantially oval shaped liquid container H) which is supported for vertical tilting movement upon a hinge leaf or leaves I i, the pintle eyes l2 of which receive a pintle l3, engaged in pintle eyes 14 formed on a hanger plate i 5, which is provided with key-hole shaped openings l6, for latching engagement with hanger screws I'I secured in a vertical support or the like. The pintle I3 is fitted with springs 18 which tension the container to hold the latter normally in a horizontal plane.

Above the container I is a roll fixture or bracket 19, which has the core 20 for a roll of strip material journaled therein, the strip material being denoted at 2|, and is adapted to be unrolled from the roll core to glide over the outermost rounded longitudinal edge 22 of the container l0. In this edge 22 next to the uppermost side of the container I0 is a row of spaced apertures 23 for the discharge therethrough of liquid 24 within the container l0 when the latter is tilted beneath the normal horizontal plane thereof. The liquid dispensed from the apertures is adapted to penetrate the strip of material 2| which on the pulling thereof from the roll causes the tilting of the container I0 for the dispensing of the liquid therefrom onto the face of the strip next to the apertures in the container.

Contacting the plate l5 are leaf springs 25 which are connected to lugs 26 on the ends of the container I0, and such springs function as bumpers for absorbing the rebound of the container when returning to normal horizontal position when pressure from the strip of material is relieved therefrom.

The strip of material 2| is held tightly rolled by a springy friction tongue 21 playing against the same in the roll formation when in the bracket.

It is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the invention will be clearly understood from the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawings, so a more extended explanation has been omitted for the sake of brevity.

What is claimed is:

A dispenser of the character described, comprising a liquid container movably supported and having openings in its upper end, a material roll supporter adapted to direct the material against the liquid container to move the liquid container in its passage over thesame, and a spring bumper engaging the liquid container for retarding the return movement of the liquid container.
