1 Claim. l

The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in indicators designed primarily for use by housewives in ordering creamery products, such as milk, cream and the like.

An important object of the invention is to provide a card holder in which cards containing indicia indicating the character and quantity of items to be delivered by a milkman or other de liveryman and providing means for attaching the card holder in a convenient position, either to the top of an empty milk bottle, or to a wall bracket.

A further object of the invention is to provide a plurality of foldable card holders and by means of which one or more cards may be displayed where the housewife desires one or more items to be delivered.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a receptacle carried by the card holder as a depository for a note or message held in a protected position in the receptacle from the weather.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective showing the card holders secured to a wall bracket.

Figure 5 is a sectional view through the rnessage receptacle taken on a line 5-5 of Figure 4;

Referring now to the drawing in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention the numerals 5 and 6 designate a pair of card holders constructed in the form of a U-shaped frame having opposed channels 'I at their upstanding side portions 8 whereby to removably receive one or more cards 9. One side of the card holders 5 and S are hingedly connected to each other by a suitable type of hinge structure III for folding the card holders one against the other as shown in Figure 2 of the drawings, or for supporting the card holders in an open end-to-end position as shown in Figure l.

The cards 9 have suitably displayed thereon indicia II to designate the character of a dairy product or other item for display in one of the card holders and the cards in the other of the card holders is provided with indicia I2 to indicate the quantity of such items.

A disk I3 is suitably secured to the lower edge of the card holder 6 to project outwardly therefrom in a horizontal position and a plurality of resilient ngers I4 extend downwardly from the edge of the disk to provide a clip for friction gripping engagement with the neck I5 of a bottle to attach the card holders thereto.

The outer edge of the card holder 6 is formed with a downwardly extending angular arm I6 forming a hook for engaging a wall bracket I1 attached to a suitable supporting structure I8 to support the card holders 5 and 6 in a suitable position, where the bottle I5 is not available. A tubular receptacle I9 is suitably secured in a horizontal position to the lower edge of an opposite side of the card holder 6, the receptacle I9 being of any suitable cross sectional shape and open at each end to form a depository for a rnessage which may be placed in either end of the receptacle and protected from the elements.

In the operation of the device, the card holders 5 and 6 may be placed in a folded position as shown in Figure 2 of the drawing, when not in use, or when it is desired to display only one card and when it is desired to display an additional card the holders are swung outwardly and to an open position as shown in Figure 1.

The cards exposed in the respective holders 5 and 6 will indicate to a deliveryman an order of dairy products or other items to be supplied the customer, and the receptacle I9 may also be used to hold a message for the deliveryman or a bill for the customer.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be under-stood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claims.

Having described the invention, what is claimed asnew is:

A device for holding ordering messages at the top of a bottle comprising a cap for said bottle, a rst U-shaped card holder mounted at its bottom on said cap in upright position at one side of said cap for displaying an ordering card at the corresponding side of the bottle, a second U- shaped ordering card holder, said card holders having vertical side edges hinged together for swinging of the second card holder over said cap into at engagement with the rst card holder to conceal a message on an ordering card in the second holder, said second card holder being swingable on said hinge into coplanar relation with the rst card holder to display the message concealed when the card holder was swung at against the first hard holder, said edges abutting in the coplanar relation of said card holders to 4 establish the coplanar relation of the card holders.
