A An object of this invention is to providea device of the character described comprising a metal holder and a glass receptacle therein with spring means on the holder to retain the receptacle within the holder.
- Yet another object of this invention is to pro-I vide a device of the character described comprising a holder, said holder comprising a base, a stem attached to the base, a perforated metalhousing attached to the .upper end of the-stem, a spring clip attached to the bottom of the metal housing, a glass receptacle fitted within the housing and provided with an annular groove receiv-; ing spring fingers on the clip, for'retaining the receptacle within the housing, said receptacle being removable from the housing for washing, cleaning or replacement.
' Still another object of this invention is to provide in an article of the character described, a single means for attaching the metal housing to the stem and the spring clip to the bottom of the housing. I I I,
A still further object of this invention is to provide a strong, rugged and durable device of the character described, which shall be relatively inexpensive to manufacture, easy to assemble and disassemble, which shall be easy to keep clean, and which shall yet be practical and efllcient to a high degreeain use.
Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

For this purpose the rim at the opening 31 is formed with a downwardly and inwardly extending annular flange 42. Passing through the opening 3! and through the opening in the bottom wall 29 of the housing 21, is the shank of a screw 43. The shank of the screw is screwed into the threaded opening 23. The head of the screw engages the flange 42.
Interposed between said portion 36 of the spring clip and portion 29 of housing 21 is a lock washer 45. The head of the screw presses against the flange 42 and serves to clamp the housing to the stem and the spring clip to the housing.
Disposed within the housing 21 is the glass receptacle l2. Said receptacle has an outer shape conforming substantially to the shape of portion 31 of the housing 21. The upper edge 46 of the glass receptacle is disposed above the upper edge 33 of housing 21'. at its bottom and becomes thinner toward the top. It is formed in its outer surface with an annular groove 50 into which the curved spring tongues 39 may snap for retaining the glass receptacle in contact with the inner surface of upper portion of wall 3|.
It will be noted that the receptacle contacts the inner surface of wall 3| and fits snugly there- 1n.
If it is desired to clean the glass receptacle I2, said receptacle may be pulled out of the holder, nevertheless, the spring clip will keep the glass receptacle from accidentally falling out. It will be observed that the holder H may be disassembled or assembled easily.
While the article 10 is shown herein in the form of a cocktail glass, it will be understood that other similar articlesmay embody the'present invention.
It will now be understood that the glass receptacle 12 contacts the housing 21 only at its inner surface and adjacent the upper end thereof as shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. Below said point of contact, the receptacle is spaced from the housing. Furthermore, the glass receptacle does not contact the central bottom portion 36 of the spring clip but only engages free flexing portions of the spring fingers 38. The spring fingers 38 do not contact the holder. They are spacedfrom the holder and hence serve to resiliently press the receptacle into contact with the inner surface of thehousing 27 adjacent the upper end of the latter. It'is well known that glass receptacles will vary in size due to unequal contraction upon cooling after being molded. With the present construction, the glass receptacle is always pressed against the housing even if the size varies in the cooling process.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a de vice in which the several objects of this invention are achieved and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made 'of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth/or shown in the accompanying drawings, is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. I
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. An article of the character described comprising a base, a stem on the base, said stem being formed at its upper end with a central The receptacle I2 is thickest screw threaded opening, a housing having a flat bottom wall contacting the upper end of the base and formed with a central opening, said housing having an upwardly and outwardly curved annular wall extending from said fiat wall, a receptacle within said housing formed with an external annular groove, a spring clip within said housing having a bottom annular portion disposed between said receptacle and said fiat wall and. formed with a central opening, said spring clip having fingers provided with portions engaging within said annular groove, and a screw having a head contacting the central opening of said bottom portion of said spring clip at said opening and being provided with a shank passing through the opening in the flat wall or" the housing and screwed within the threaded opening at the upper end of the stem, said fingers being spaced from said housing and holding said receptacle snugly into said housing, said receptacle touching said housing only adjacent the upper end of the latter and being spaced from the bottom of the spring clip.
2. An article of the character described comprising a base, a stem on the base, said stem being formed on its upper end with a central screw threaded opening, a detachable housing having a fiat bottom wall contacting the upper end of the base and formed with a central opening, said housing having an upwardly and outwardly curved annular wall extending from said fiat wall, a receptacle within said housing formed with an external annular groove, a spring clip within said housing having a bottom annular portion disposed between said receptacle and said fiat wall and formed with a central opening, said spring clip having spring fingers provided with portions engaging said annular groove, and a screw having a head contacting the central opening of the bottom of said spring clip and being provided with a shank passing through the opening in the flat wall of the housing and screwed within the threaded opening in the upward end of the stem, said receptacle being thickest at the bottom and becoming thinner toward its upper edge, said receptacle contacting said holder only adjacent the upper end of the latter and being otherwise spaced from the holder, said spring clip serving to resiliently hold the receptacle against the inner surface of the holder adjacent the upper end thereof.
