More specifically the present invention relates to medication containers.
It is generally well known that many persons are obliged to periodically take medication for various chronic illnesses, such medications generally requiring the person to have water handy so to wash down the medication when attempting to swallow it. At times, such water may not be readily available, such as when a person may be traveling in a public conveyance such as a bus or subway, or when a person is traveling in an automobile or when wherein alternately he is in any place where no drinking water is readily available. This situation is of course objectionable and therefore in want of improvement.
Accordingly it is the principal object of the present invention to provide a novel container having self-contained means whereby a person may at any time have ready drinking water when attempting to swallow a medication.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel container which contains both the medication and the drinking water.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a container wherein the medication and the water are contained within separated compartments from each other.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a medication container which accordingly canbe made of inexpensive plastic material so that the same can be disposed after a single dose.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a novel disposable medication container wherein accordingly the container can be provided with a prescribed quantity of medication for a single dose so that a person does not need to measure out a required amount thereof and thereby not distract his attention for the same, such as when a person is seated within a darkened theater and wherein accordingly the medication may be taken without unduly special attention.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide an asprin-capri or tab-capri which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown being opened,
FIG. 2 is a side elevation view thereof, and
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken on the line 3- 3 of FIG. 2.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents an asprin-capri or tab-capri according to the present invention wherein there is an inexpensive disposable container 11 made preferably of polyethylene plastic material and which is comprised of a pair of flat panels 12 positioned side by side together so to form an envelope-configurated container.
The peripheral edges of the flat panels 12 are heatsealed together so to form a peripheral bond 13 which is waterproof.
Additionally, a transverse extending heat-seal 14 is 15 and 16 as best shown in FIG. 3.
Within the compartment 15, there are enclosed a medication 17 which may comprise either a powder or tablets such as illustrated in the drawing and which accordingly may comprise either asprin or any other tablet type of medication.
Within the compartment 16 there is sealed in a waterproof manner a quantity of drinking water 18.
Along one edge 19 of the disposable container 11, there is a sidewardly projecting tab 20 located having one edge 21 thereof forming one side of a slit 21 that extends partly into the transverse extending heat-seal 14, as shown in the drawing.
In operative use, when a person desires to take a medication, he simply grasps the tab with the fingers of one hand while the fingers of the other hand hold the body of the container, as shown in FIG. 1.
He then'pulls the tab so that the slit 22 starts t rip apart the transverse to heat-seal which is necessarily narrow so that'during the tearing operation, he will break into both compartments 1S and 16 so to gain access to the medication as well as to the drinking water. The person may then place the medication in his mouth after which he can invert the lower portion of the container containing the drinking water so that he may be able to swallow the pill or other medication.
Thus a comfortable means has been provided for a person to have drinking water handy while being able to take a medication regardless of where the person may be.
What I now claim is:
1. In an asprin-capri or tab-capri, the combination of a disposable container containing a quantity of medication and a quantity of drinking water, said container being made of disposable polyethylene plastic material, said container being comprised of a pair of flat panels which are peripherally enjoined together by means of a heat-seal, said heat-seal being of waterproof nature, and a transverse extending narrow heat-seal being provided so to divide the interior between said panels into two separated compartments, one of said compartments containing said medication and the other of said compartments containing said drinking water, said medication and said drinking water being accordingly separated from each other, a sidewardly extending tab being formed on said panels, said tab being adjacent a slit, said slit providing a starting means for tearing across said transverse extending heat-seal so to gain access to both said compartments of said container so to dispense said medication and said drinking water, and said tab extending beyond a side edge of said panels forming convenient grasping means between a persons fingers, one side edge of said tab being straight and aligned with an end and a straight direction of said slit, said slit being aligned with a longitudinal center of said transverse heat-seal so to rip into both compartments.
