Abstract

An inner ring of plastic with continuous periphery, an outer ring formed of a length of plastic having a U-shaped groove with the ends of the length brought into end-to-end relation, the bag mouth being brought inside the inner basic frame ring and folded out thereover, with the U-shaped groove snapped onto and clamping the mouth of the bag onto the basic frame ring.

[57] ABSTRACT An inner ring of plastic with continuous periphery, an outer ring formed of a length of plastic having a U- shaped groove with the ends of the length brought into end-to end relation, the bag mouth being brought inside the inner basic frame ring and folded out thereover, with the U-shaped groove snapped onto and clamping the mouth of the bag onto the basic frame nng.

1 Claim, 3 Drawing Figures 1 BAG HOLDER FIELD OF INVENTION This invention relates to bag holders and more particularly to devices of this character over which the mouth of a bag may be spread to facilitate filling the bag.

PRIOR ART Bag holders have been provided comprising a rigid upstanding frame having several legs rigidly secured to a ring which receives the mouth of the bag. These are cumbersome, unwieldly and heavy to handle.

SUMMARY A freely movable basic frame ring over which the mouth of a bag is folded with a return flap, and a freely movable supplemental retainer ring having a U-shaped circumferential groove receiving said basic frame ring with said bag mouth therebetween.

Preferably at least one of said rings is of non-metallic plastic, and the bag is inside of the frame ring and folded outward thereover. The frame ring preferably has a continuous periphery, and the retainer ring is preferably a length of plastic with the ends thereof brought into end-to-end relation, to snap over the bag mouth onto the basic frame ring.

Preferably the groove of the retainer ring faces outward so as to engage said basic frame ring from the inside thereof, and the retainer ring is preferably a length of plastic extruded into the U-shaped cross section.

DESCRIPTION The bag holder comprises a freely movable basic frame ring which is one piece non-metallic plastic,

or a length of material permanently secured in end-toend relation. A freely movable supplemental retainer ring 12 of similar material has a circumferential groove 14 of substantially U-shaped cross section opening outward. This ring may be a length of extruded plastic with free ends 16 brought into end-to-end relation so as to snap inside the frame ring 10.

As shown in FIG. 3, the bag 18 has a mouth inserted inside of the frame ring 10 and folded over to form a flap 20 outside thereof. Then the retainer ring 12 is inserted inside of the folded over bag, to snap inside the frame ring 10, with the bag mouth therebetween.

It should be noted that the bag with its holder may be held in one hand, leaving the other hand free to fill the bag. Also the bag with its holder may be pressed down onto a floor or the ground, so as to flatten the bottom portion ofotherwise elliptical shape thereagainst, to facilitate sweeping over the flattened bottom into the bag thereabove.

What is claimed is:

l. A bag holder to spread the mouth of a bag, comprising a freely movable basic ring into which the mouth of a bag is inserted and folded over with a return flap; and

a freely movable supplemental retainer ring having a circumferential groove receiving said frame ring with said bag mouth therebetween;

said basic frame ring comprising a hollow tube of plastic with the ends secured together;

said retainer ring comprising a length of plastic extruded into U-shaped cross section which faces perpendicularly outward from the common axis so as to engage the inside of the hollow tube;

the wall thickness of said U-shaped retainer ring being substantially equal to that of said plastic hollow tube, and the resilience thereof, enabling the bag with its holder to be pressed down onto the ground so as to flatten the bottom portion to facilitate sweeping thereover, and to return to its normal shape when the pressure is released.

Claims (1)

1. A bag holder to spread the mouth of a bag, comprising A FREELY MOVABLE BASIC RING INTO WHICH THE MOUTH OF A BAG IS INSERTED AND FOLDED OVER WITH A RETURN FLAP; AND A FREELY MOVABLE SUPPLEMENTAL RETAINER RING HAVING A CIRCUMFERENTIAL GROOVE RECEIVING SAID FRAME RING WITH SAID BAG MOUTH THEREBETWEEN; SAID BASIC FRAME RING COMPRISING A HOLLOW TUBE OF PLASTIC WITH THE ENDS SECURED TOGETHER; SAID RETAINER RING COMPRISING A LENGTH OF PLASTIC EXTRUDED INTO U-shaped cross section which faces perpendicularly outward from the common axis so as to engage the inside of the hollow tube; the wall thickness of said U-shaped retainer ring being substantially equal to that of said plastic hollow tube, and the resilience thereof, enabling the bag with its holder to be pressed down onto the ground so as to flatten the bottom portion to facilitate sweeping thereover, and to return to its normal shape when the pressure is released.
