EKKO SOLLMANN, OF I-IOBQKEN, NElV JERSEY, AND J OIIANN A. ISSMAYER, OF NUREMBERG, GERMANY, ASSIGNORS TO GEORGE BORGFELDT 85 COM- PANY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., A'OORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
TOY CAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent Lia 737,514, dated August 25, 1903.
Application filed March 5, 1902. Serial No. 96,738. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EKKO SOLLMANN, of Hoboken, New Jersey, and J OHANN A. Iss- IWIAYER, of Nuremberg, Germany, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toy Cars, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the improvement is to provide a whistle in connection with a toy car, and it is deemed most advantageous to utilize for this purpose the empty space in a toy representing a locomotive-tender.
The improvement consists in a bellows operating the whistle and having its fixed board fastened to the floor of the tender and its movable board connected with a rod which is also connected with a crank rotated by one pair of wheels.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a central longitudinal section of a toy locomotive-tender embodying our improvement. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same.
Similar letters of reference designate corresponding parts in both figures.
A designates the body of the locomotivetender. It is supported by two pairs of wheels 13 B Inside its body and upon the floor is arranged a bellows 0. Its immovable board is fastened to the floor of the tender and it operates a whistle. In the present instance the whistle D is arranged in the movable board of the bellows and operates through an opening a in the floor of the tender. The movable board of the bellows has pivotally connected to it one end of a rod E. The other end of this rod is connected with a crank e, formed in the axle of the pair of wheels B. The operation of the bellows draws in and forces out air through the whistle D, thus causing it to operate.
\Vhat we claim as new, and desire to secure 4o by Letters Patent, is
The combination with a toy car having a plurality of sets of wheels and a body supported thereon, of a bellows arranged within the body, a whistle arranged within the bellows and communicating with an opening in the floor of the car-body, a crank operated by the supporting-wheels of the car and a connection between the said crank and the bellows.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of witnesses, two for each signature.
