To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHRISTOPHER Hrmnns, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Furniture 141558 and Casters, of which the following is a clear, and exact description,- reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.

My invention relates to a combined leg and caster for articles of furniture and it has for its object to provide a device of this character whereby the articles of furniture, when supplied with a desired number of the legs and casters, may be susce tible of remaining lowered osition without the liability of becoming shi ted and also susceptible of being readily elevated and moved upon a floor without the necessity of lifting it. I

It is highly desirable in many articles of furniture that they be so mounted as not to against them and therefore it is important that such articles be provided with legs which ordinarily rest upon the floor after they are located in, ositlon for use and consequently, casters t rat rest constantly upon. the floor in connection with the legs of the articles of furniture are unsatisfactory for the reason that they ermit of the article being readily shifted. %y my improvement the article of furniture supplied with it may or dinarily rest steadily and not be readily shiftable when in use but when the article of furniture is to be moved upon the floor, such movement may be readily accomplished by throwing the caster forming a part of the improvement from a position of non-serviceability to a position of servic'eability, whereby the body ofthe furniture leg which previously rested upon the floor is elevated from the floor to remain elevated during the period that the caster is in service.
