Abstract

An arrangement of a projection screen (1) for displaying a projected image comprises a number of elongated lamella members (2) which are provided at a mutual distance (a) in a common screen plane. With their viewing plane lamella members (2) form an angle (alpha) with the common screen plane. The lamella members are vertically arranged and are turnable about a vertical axis from 0° to 180°. In an embodiment intended for back projection lamella members (2) are manufactured from a translucent, non-transparent material. Lamella members (2) are provided with a common adjustment means (9, 10) which may be remote controlled.

Description

AN ARRANGEMENT OF A PROJECTION SCREEN
The present invention relates to an arrangement of a project¬ ion screen for displaying a projected image.
The invention is mainly intended to be used for advertising or demonstration purposes, and it is intended for displaying stills and moving images.
In connection with show windows it may be desired, at the same time, to be able to show advertising images, advertis¬ ing films, demonstration films, and the like. Previously, this was done by the aid of TV-screens and a video player. A TV-screen, however, cannot be watched from a distance, and it will not act as an eye catcher to people at a certain distance from the window.
It is, thus, an object of the present invention to provide a projection screen covering the entire, or an essential part of the window area, at the same time as it permits a view of the display behind said screen.
According to the invention this is achieved by an arrangement of a projection screen which is characterized by the fact that the screen comprises a number of elongated lamella members of a dull translucent material, which are provided at a mutual distance in a common screen plane and with their own plane (the viewed surface) enclose an angle with the common screen plane. In a preferred embodiment the lamella members are arrang¬ ed at such a mutual distance, and at such an angle that their projection on the common plane covers the whole plane.
Further features of the invention will appear from the dependent claims from 3 to 9.
The invention will be disclosed in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which shows a diagrammatical embodiment of a screen according to the invention, and where Figure 1 is a perspective view of a screen according to the invention with lamelle 45 tilted position on the main plane of the screen, Figure 2 shows a detail of the lamella suspension, and Figure 3 is a diagrammatical view of a back projected screen according to the invention, seen from above.
Projecting screen 1 in Figure 1 comprises a number of lamelle 2, which are arranged at a mutual distance a. Lamelle 2 are provided with their longitudinal axes 3 in a common vertical plane. The lamella members are turnable about their axes 3, and Figure 2 shows an embodiment of a turnable suspension of a lamella. The lamella member in Figure 2 is provided with a bent back lug 4 at its upper end. A pin 5 extends through an aperture 6 at upper external flap 41 of lug 4 and a head 6 is in contact with the lower side of flap 41 to hold lamella 2. Pin 5 is attached to a slide member 7 which is slidably arranged in a slide rail 8 which may, e.g. be attached to upper frame portion of a window frame in a display window. The angle of lamella members 2 is adjustable by the aid of a common adjustment means which in a simple embodiment, as shown in Figure 1, may comprise two cords 9 and 10 which are secured at the lower corners of each lamella 2. Cords 9 and 10 are movable in the direction of arrows 11 and 12 by the aid of a common member, not shown.
In Figure 3 a back projected screen 1 according to the in¬ vention is diagrammatically shown with light from a projector of films or images being illustrated by arrows 13. Lamella members 2 are manufactured from an opaque material, i.e. they are translucent, but not transparent. An image will, thus, appear on the screen, which may be viewed by an observer on the opposite side of the screen, as diagrammatically indicated by an eye 14, when the observ¬ er stands at a certain distance from the screen looking straight at the screen. If the observer moves close to the window where screen 1 is suspended, he may view a display 15 by looking in the direction of arrows 16 between lamella members 2.
The screen may readily be removed from the window, since lamella members 2 can slide, via slides 7, to one side along slide rail 8.
By the aid of the screen according to the invention, it is, thus, possible to show advertising images and films, instructive films, and the like, at the same time as people can view a window display. Besides acting as a projection screen the screen may also serve as a common sun shade. It will then be especially suitable that lamella members 2 can be placed at a desired angle to provide optimal view at the same time as sufficient sun shading is achieved.

Claims

CLAIMS :
1. An arrangement of a translucent projection screen intended for back projection to display a projected image, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the screen comprises a number of elongated lamella members (2) of a dull trans¬ lucent material, which are arranged at a mutual distance (a) in a common screen plane, and which with their own plane (the viewed surface) enclose an angle with the common screen plane.
2. An arrangement as defined in claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that lamella members (2) are provided at such a mutual distance (a) and at such an angle (W) that their projection on the common screen plane covers the whole plane.
3. An arrangement as defined in claims 1 and 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the lamella members are vertically arranged.
4. An arrangement as defined in one or several of claims 1-3, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that the lamella members are turnable about a vertical axis from 0 to 180°.
5. An arrangement as defined in one or several of the preceding claims, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that lamella members (2) are manufactured from a translucent, non-transparent material (opaque material) , and are inted- ed for back projection, i.e. projected from the opposite side of the viewing side.
6. An arrangement as defined in one or several of the preceding claims, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that a common adjustment means (9,10) for all lamella members (2) is provided.
7. An arrangement as defined in claim 6, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that said adjustment means is remote controlled.
8. An arrangement as defined in one or several of the preceding claims, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that lamella members (2) are arranged to be slidable in their common screen plane, e.g. being suspended at their top ends from a slide rail (8), via slides (7).
9. An arrangement as defined in claim 8, c h a r a c t e r i z e d i n that lamella members (2) are turnably secured in slide (7).
