Description

Inlay-Platzhalter für genormte Inlays Inlay placeholders for standardized inlays
The invention relates to an inlay placeholder for preparing a cavity for receiving prefabricated inlays.
From US 4,666,405 a device is described in which a body made of a transparent material is inserted into a cavity filled with light-curing material. In the known device, the body is essentially conical, after removal of the body the space occupied by it during the curing is filled with further material to be hardened in a next operation.
The known device is not suitable for the preparation of a cavity into which prefabricated inlays known from DE 37 43 433 C1 can be inserted.
The invention is therefore based on the object of creating an inlay placeholder which is suitable for preparing a cavity for receiving prefabricated inlays. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a body corresponding to the shape of the inlay to be inserted into the cavity and a shaft attached to the body and serving for handling and extending away from the body.
It is also proposed that the body and shaft are made of a transparent material.
A special embodiment is characterized in that the body consists of two mutually movable elements, wherein a spring means pushing the two elements away from one another can be provided.
Dabei zeigt:The invention is in. the following with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing. It shows:

The inlay placeholder for preparing a cavity for receiving a prefabricated inlay consists of a body 10 and a shaft 12. The shape of the body 10 corresponds regularly to the inlay for which the cavity is to be prepared the body consists of a web section filling the middle space of the cavity and a flange section filling the side surfaces of the cavity. The shaft 12 is used only for handling the body 10, that is, for inserting it into and removing it from the cavity. The essentially cylindrical shaft 12 is provided on its end face facing away from the body 10 with a longitudinal groove 14, by means of which the orientation of the device inserted into the cavity can be recognized. When using a special cutlery, this longitudinal groove 14 also serves to engage between the cutlery and the device.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, the body 10 consists of two elements 10a and 10b which are movable relative to one another and are pressed away from one another by a spring means 16 designed as a circumferential frame. The two elements 10a, 10b are similarly asymmetrical and are arranged rotated by 180 ° relative to one another, where they overlap in the plane of movement.
When used, a filling material is first introduced into the prepared cavity and the device is then introduced into the cavity. After setting - when using a light-curing material, ie after applying light through the then transparent body of the device - the device is removed again. After a fixation material (eg cement) has been introduced into the remaining space, the prefabricated inlay is inserted.
It goes without saying that the body 10 should be made smaller than the prefabricated inlays by the layer thickness of the fixation material.
When using the special device according to FIGS. 5 to 7, the spring means 16 causes the flanges of the elements 10a, 10b to lie flush with the adjacent surfaces so that the prefabricated inlays to be used in place of the elements 10a, 10b esio -distally positioned correctly.
