Abstract

The invention pertains to television broadcasting and can be used for transmitting television programmes with simultaneous interpretation. The problem addressed by the invention is that of reducing the unused capacity of a TV signal and reducing TV broadcasting costs. The proposed method of broadcasting television programmes with simultaneous interpretations can take two possible forms. In the first, the picture signal and original accompanying sound signal are forwarded to a receiving system at an interpreting centre (4), where the picture signal and accompanying sound signal in the original language are picked up, simultaneous interpretation is carried out, and the voice signal of the simultaneous interpretation is transmitted to the subscriber's receiver which receives it, combines it with the original language accompanying sound signal to produce a signal containing the accompanying sound with simultaneous interpretation. In the second variant, the television programmes are received and interpreted in a special interpreting centre (5) and the voice signals of the interpretations are combined to form a group signal (compressed, multiplexed, encoded) which is transmitted to subscribers' receivers.
