Abstract

Among urological catheters with valves we can single out the catheter with the electric valve which enables simple, safe, painless and almost natural emptying of the urinary bladder, which is realized with the catheter which is put in the urinary bladder, which consists of the catheter pipe (1), made of silicon rubber, the electric valve (2), placed in the widen top in the uppermost part of the catheter, the electric flexible cable (3), which appears at the end of the catheter pipe, and which is connected, by means of the double-pole connector (4), with the battery-box (5), equipped with double-pole plug-box (6), for the cable connector (4), the switch (7) and the battery (8). In accordance with idea of the innovation, when the patient pleases, he can, by pressing the switch (7), open the electric valve (2), and in this way enable flowing out of urine from the urinary bladder, or by pressing the switch (7) off, enable refilling of the bladder. Catheters with the pneumatic and the hydraulic valves create interior balloon which closes the catheter luminary well, by injecting air or fluid, and by their releasing urine passes through the catheter.

Description

UROLOGICAL CATHETERS WITH THE VALVE
DESCRIPTION OF THE INNOVATION
A. TECHNICAL FIELD
The innovation is classified in the field of medical helping devices and it belongs to the group of urological catheters, with the valve on the top, which is put in the urinary bladder and is opened according to need. According to the International Patent Classification ( IPC ), the number is A 61 M 25 / 00.
B. TECHNICAL PROBLEM
This innovation regulates secretion of urine from the urinary bladder, almost in a natural way, in the case of urethra narrowing and other indications for catheter. In this way urinary bladder becomes natural reservoir for urine without use of the bag.
C. TECHNICAL SITUATION
The problem of unnatural emptying of the urinary bladder is solved by means of the catheter ( silicon rubber pipe), which is put by one end into the urinary bladder, fixed in it by an inflated baloon, and in a plastic bag by another, in this way enabling continual emptying of the urinary bladder. This solution is satisfactory from the technical, buj it has many inconveniences from the humane point of view. The long catheters with omnipresent plastic bags are not only physical difficulty, but cause psychological problems, probably greater than the former ones. Therefore, we daresay that such solutions of urinary catheters are not humane enough. Urological catheters which enable emptying of the urinary bladder in a natural way, in intervals in accordance with the will and needs of users are certainly a better solution. It is understood that such catheters must have the valve mounted in. The very fact that we deal with hoses with valves here opens series of various technical possibilities. In the fluid technique, especially in the field of valves, bolts, distributors and caps, there are scores of various technical possibilities and solutions. According to the principle of operation they can be: mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electromagnetic, etc.
Mechanical valves are simple to manage, dependable and do not need special source of energy. One variant of the urological catheter - with mechanical valve - has already been registered as patent ( the same inventor, P 602 / 94 Yugoslavia ). However, even this solution has certain inconveniences: patients use both hands, the valve is activated by a thread and the lower part of the urinary bladder suffers greater pressure. Better solutions are: pneumatic catheter - with single action valve as well as hydraulic catheters with a cap. However, the best solution is urological catheter with the electromagnetic valve. Upon pressing the switch the electromagnetic valve opens and closes, thus enabling emptying of the urinary bladder in a way very similar to the natural.
D. ESSENCE OF THE INNOVATION a) Urological catheter with electromagnetic valve
Essence of the innovation is a catheter with the electric valve connected with the flexible two - end cable and with the two - pole miniature connector with a battery as a source of electric energy, switched on by means of the electric switch placed in the battery - holder box, which can be put in the waist or in one of the pockets. Electric valve meets medical and technical requirements. It is placed in the upper part of the catheter, which goes into the bladder, so that there is no urine pressure in the catheter pipe, until the valve is activated and emptying of the urinary bladder started. Electric valve is the membrane type, and except for the silicon - rubber membrane itself there is no other part of it which is directly in contact with urine. Electric lines are of great flexibility and they flow into the outer part of the catheter pipe and do not disturb its geometry, functionality and quality. Thickness of the valve is 6, 7, 8 and 9 mm. Advantages of this innovation are in the fact that emptying of the urinary bladder is done in a safe, simple and painless way and depends on patients free will with minimal disturbance of their comodity and integrity. b) Urological catheter with pneumatic valve
Advantage of this catheter is in the fact that it is the lightest and the cheapest of all urological catheters. Air is injected by means of a syringe and one part of the top of catheter is expanded ( inflated ) and in this way the passage of urine through catheter is blocked. Injected air safely holds the one - direction active valve in the bottom of the catheter as well as it is the case with inflation of the fixation - outer baloon. c) Urological catheter with hydraulic valve
This catheter is also identical with pneumatic valve, but with one difference: fluid is injected instead of air, held safely by a cap. All these catheters with valves are small; female are 10 cm and male 30 cm long and it is important that they are easily placed in the bladder, passing through all the narrowings with the help of the pusher. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INNOVATION
The innovation is shown in the diagram , whereon:
Fig. 1 - presents axiometric appearance of the urological catheter with the connecting cable and the battery box , natural size.
Fig. 2 - presents cross section of the electric valve, magnified.
Fig. 3 - presents axiometric appearance of the urological catheter with pneumatic and hydraulic valves.
Fig. 4 - presents the detail of the pneumatic and hydraulic valves in cross - section.
Fig. 5 - presents axiometric appearance of the pusher of the catheter.
F. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE CATHETER a) Urological catheter with the electric valve consists of the catheter pipe 1, plastic rubber , the electric valve 2 , placed in the very top of the catheter, the electrical flexible cable 3 which appears at the end of the catheter pipe which is connected by double - pole connector 4 with the battery box 5, equipped with double - pole plug - box 6 for the cable connector 4, the switch 7 and the battery 8. In accordance with idea of the innovation , the user can , if he pleases, by pressing the switch 7 , open the electric valve 2 , in the way that voltage from the battery 8 creates current in the coil 9 of the electromagnet, which has as a consequence attracting of the electromagnetic anchor 11, which is mechanically connected with the valve cap 12 , made of silicon rubber which presses the rubber upon the valve opening , pressed by the mechanical spring 14. When emptying of the bladder is over, the user stops bringing of electric energy in the coil 9 by turning the switch 7 of the elecromagnet off , which frees the electromagnetic anchor 11, so that the mechanical spring 14, presses the valve cap 12 which presses the valve opening , in this way closing the urological catherter and enabling refilling of the urinary bladder. b) Urological catheter with pneumatic and hydraulic valve Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 ( Detail - cross section ); when injecting air or fluid by a syringe, the interior luminary in the catheter top closes ; releasing them, the passage for urine is free.
Urological catheters with valves are obviously in advantage of other catheters because of their placing in the urinary bladder, because they are led by a metal rod - the pusher, the top of which is adopted to the corresponding catheters , i. e. valves - it is the rounded reinforcement of the catheter top with the pneumatic and the hydraulic valves, while with the electric it is quadrilateral. Thus, every top of the pusher has a corresponding bearing in the valve, i.e. catheter. (3Tig. 5)
