Description

DUAL COFFIN EQUIPPED WITH INNER-COFFIN AND OUTER- COFFIN
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a dual coffin consisting of independent inner and outer coffins. More specifically, the present invention relates to a dual coffin consisting of independent inner and outer coffins, in which the outer coffin for accommodating the inner coffin is formed independently from the latter, so as to make the coffin suitable for cremations as well as for burials.
Background of the Invention
The funeral ceremonies for corpse include soil burial, cremation, water burial, wind burial and the like, but in our country, soil burial (burying the corpse into the ground) and cremation (burning off the corpse) occupy the most part of the funeral ceremonies. In the past, the number of cases of soil burial far surpassed the number of cases of cremation, but coming recently, the number of cases of cremation is gradually increasing owing to the fact that the tomb site areas are dwindling, and that the people's conception is being inclined to cremation.
The cremation reduces the funeral expense as much as the procuring of the tomb site, while the funeral ceremony is simplified. However, it is the reality that the coffin is usually made of a high quality wood as homage to the passed person. In spite of the fact that the wood coffin is to be burned off, if a high quality- wood is used for the coffin, then there are accompanied the disadvantages such that the economical burden is increased, the resources are squandered, the remnants after the cremation are bulky, and the transportation of the coffin is troublesome. Summary of the Invention
The present invention is intended to overcome the above-described disadvantages of the conventional practice. Therefore the present invention proposes a dual coffin which consists of an inner coffin and an outer coffin, the former being to be burned off together with the corpse, and the latter being for accommodating the inner coffin. In this dual coffin, although the inner coffin is burned off together with the corpse, the outer coffin is recycled to reuses, thereby saving the resources and alleviating the economical burn. Therefore it is an object of the present invention to provide a dual coffin in which the squandering of the resources is diminished, and the funeral ceremony is rendered economical.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a dual coffin in which the inner coffin can be easily inserted and taken out of the outer coffin. It is still another object of the present invention to provide a dual coffin in which the outer coffin can be rented separately from the inner coffin,
The above objects and other objects can be achieved by the present invention described in detail below.
In order to accomplish the above objects, the dual coffin consisting of inner and outer coffins according to the present invention includes: an elongated inner coffin for accommodating a corpse; and an outer coffin for accommodating the inner coffin, with an openable/closable device formed on one end thereof for entrance and exit of the inner coffin, and with a guide formed on a bottom thereof for guiding the inner coffin, the inner and outer coffins being independently formed. In another aspect of the present invention, the dual coffin according to the present invention includes: an elongated inner coffin for accommodating a corpse; and an outer coffin for accommodating the inner coffin, the outer coffin consisting of a main body part (having a bottom board, a pair of side walls and a lid) and a pair of extension parts coupled to a pair of openings (each of the openings being formed by the lid and the sidewalls of the main body part), characterized in that: each of the sidewalls has an elongated hole; each of the extension parts has a pair of rods to be inserted into the elongated holes of the sidewalls of the main body part; the extension parts in a state coupled to the main body part are mounted upon the bottom board.; and the inner coffin is formed independently from the outer coffin.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiments
The preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail referring to the attached drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the dual coffin according to the present invention, with an openable/closable device for entrance and exit of the inner coffin being formed therein.
The dual coffin according to the present invention includes: an outer coffin 1 for serving as the usual coffin; and an inner coffin 2 to be completely accommodated within the outer coffin 1, the outer coffin 1 being provided with an openable/closable device 3 for entrance and exit of the inner coffin 1. Further, the outer coffin 1 includes an aromatic agent injector 4 for injecting an aromatic agent or an anti-corruption agent to inhibit the spoiling of the corpse. The aromatic agent injector 4 includes: an aromatic agent inlet formed on its outside; an aromatic agent spraying hole directed toward the inner coffin 2; and a conduit (not illustrated) connected between the aromatic agent inlet and the aromatic agent spraying hole.
FIG. 2(A) is a sectional view of the dual coffin of FIG. 1, and FIG. 2(B) is a sectional view of the dual coffin of FIG. 2(A), with the openable/closable device being open.
The outer coffin 1 of the dual coffin according to the present invention includes: a main body part for accommodating the inner coffin 2, an openable/closable device 3 for inserting and taking out the inner coffin 2. The main body part includes: an elongated internal space for accommodating the inner coffin 2; and an opening formed at one end thereof, correspondingly with the openable/closable device 3. The main body part is preferably made of a light metal or a wood.
On the internal bottom of the main body part, there is provided a guide (not illustrated) for guiding the inner coffin 2 to a proper position within the outer coffin 1. Further, on the outside bottom of the inner coffin 2, there can be formed a rail correspondingly with the guide of the outer coffin 1. Alternatively, the outer coffin 1 can be provided with a rail, while the inner coffin 2 can be provided with a guide. More preferably, a pair of end walls or a pair of protuberances can be formed in such a manner as to fit to the both ends of the inner coffin 2, so that they can be helpful to pushing the inner coffin 2 to a proper position within the outer coffin 1.
A slope is formed on the bottom of the outer coffin 1, so that the inner coffin 2 can be easily inserted into and taken out of the outer coffin 1. In the case where the dual coffin of the present invention is used for cremation, only the inner coffin 2 with the corpse settled therein is burned, and therefore, the slope should be inclined down toward the openable/closable device 3. Owing to this slope, the inner coffin 2 is naturally slipped out when talking out the inner coffin 2.
The slope should be preferably 5° ~ 15° . In this case, the heights of the both ends of the inner coffin 2 are made different in such a manner that the ends of the inner coffin 2 can be vertically fit to the end walls, and that the top of the inner coffin 2 can be horizontally maintained.
On the other hand, in the case where the dual coffin of the present invention is used for a burial, the outer coffin 1 with the inner coffin 2 inserted therein is buried, and therefore, the inner coffin 2 needs be easily inserted into the outer coffin 1. Accordingly, the slope of the internal bottom of the outer coffin 1 is formed in a manner opposite to that of the cremation case.
That is, the slope is formed such that the portion near the openable/closable device 3 is high, while the opposite end is low. Further, in this burial case, at least a hole is formed in the bottom of the inner coffin 2, so that the fluid generated during the decomposition of the corpse can be drained.
The openable/closable device of the dual coffin according to the present invention is for inserting and taking out the inner coffin 2 to and from the outer coffin 1, and therefore, it is formed correspondingly to the opening of one end of the outer coffin 1. Further, the openable/closable device 3 can be embodied either in a sliding type or in a pivoting type.
In the case of the slide type device, any one of the outer coffin 1 and the openable/closable device 3 is provided with a guide groove (not illustrated), while the other one is provided with a guide projection (not illustrated). Thus the guide groove and the guide projection are mated together, so that the guide projection can slide along the guide groove, thereby making it possible to open or close the openable/closable device 3.
In the case of the pivoting type device, at least a hinge is installed between the openable/closable device 3 and the edge of the opening of the outer coffin 1, and thus, the openable/ closable device 3 can be opened or closed in a pivotal manner. The hinge can be installed at any position, i.e., on upper or lower edge or left or right edge.
Preferably, the upper board of the outer coffin 1 is made openable like a lid, so that the corpse can be settled into the inner coffin 2 even after insertion of the inner coffin 2 into the outer coffin 1. This can be achieved by making the upper board of the outer coffin 1 a separate piece, and by installing a hinge between the edge of the upper board and the edge of the outer coffin 1, so that the upper board, i.e., the lid can be pivotally opened and closed.
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the dual coffin according to the present invention, with an openable/closable auxiliary device being formed at each of the both ends of the outer coffin 1.
In this embodiment, there are provided a pair of auxiliary openable/closable devices at both ends of the outer coffin 1 respectively, thereby facilitating the insertion and taking-out of the inner coffin 2 to and from the outer coffin 1. The dual coffin includes an outer coffin 1 and an inner coffin 2. The outer coffin 1 includes a main body part and a pair of extension parts 5. The main body part has a bottom board 6, a lid 7 and a pair of sidewalls, while the pair of the extension parts 5 are coupled respectively to a pair of openings, the openings being formed by the lid 7. and sidewalls of the main body part. The inner coffin 2 accommodates a corpse and is accommodated into the outer coffin 1. The pair of the extension parts 5 are detached away from the main body part, and the inner coffin 2 is taken out of the outer coffin 1 after opening the lid 7. Under this condition, the inner coffin 2 is longer than the main body part but shorter than the main body part plus the pair of the extension parts 5. On the pair of the sidewalls, there can be provided a pair of grips 11, and the extension parts 5 can also be provided with grips (not illustrated) respectively, so that the extension parts 5 can be easily added to the main body part.
In the drawing, the grip which is formed on each of the sidewalls includes one rod and a plurality of supporting brackets, but it is not limited to this form. That is, any other form such as one or a plurality of gripping rings will be acceptable, if it makes it possible to handle the coffin.
FIG. 4(A) is a frontal view of another embodiment of the dual coffin according to the present invention, with an auxiliary openable/closable device formed at each of the both ends of the main body part; and FIG. 4(B) is a frontal view of the same, with the auxiliary openable/closable device being open. Each of the auxiliary openable/closable devices consists of an extension part
5 which extends from each end of the main body part. The pair of the extension parts 5 are formed on both ends of the main body part respectively, and each of the extension parts 5 is provided with a pair of rods 9.
The sidewalls of the main body part are provided with a pair of elongated holes 8 respectively, and the mentioned rods 9 of each of the extension parts 5 are pushed in and pulled out of the elongated holes respectively, when the extension parts 5 are attached to and departs from the main body part. The rods of the extension parts 5 and the elongated holes of the main body part can be provided in larger numbers, but their positions should correspond to each other. Upon the bottom board, there are mounted the main body part and the extension parts 5, and its length corresponds to the sum of the lengths of the main body part and the two extension parts 5 when the rods 9 are completely inserted into the elongated holes 8. Bottom slots 10 are formed near the ends of the bottom board 6, so that the inner coffin 2 can be easily lifted up after inserting the inner coffin 2 into the outer coffin 1.
Or the bottom slots 10 are formed on the bottom board 6 in such a manner that they are positioned near the four corners of the bottom board 6, or near both ends of the bottom plate 6. In another alternative, grips can be installed on both ends of the inner coffin instead of the bottom slots 10. FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the inner coffin according to the present invention, with a corpse-securing part being provided therein.
The inner coffin 2 of the dual coffin according to the present invention should be preferably made of paper. In the case where the dual coffin of the present invention is used for cremation, the inner coffin 2 and the corpse are burned off together, and therefore, a corrugated paper or a waste paper may well be utilized to form the inner coffin 2. However, in the case where the dual coffin is used for burial, it cannot be said so, but other various materials such as wood, metal or the like may be used.
In this embodiment, the inner coffin 2 is provided with a corpse-securing device additionally, so that any loose movements of the corpse may be prevented during its transportation. This corpse-securing device is formed such that a plurality of grooves (not illustrated) are formed on the inside bottom of inner coffin 2, and a coφse-securing part 12 is fitted into the plurality of the grooves.
The corpse-securing part 12 is fitted into a proper one of the grooves in accordance with the size of the corpse, and therefore, any loose movements of the corpse can be prevented. In the drawing, two corpse- securing parts 12 are provided correspoOndingly to the head and feet of the corpse, but any more number of the corpse-securing parts 12 can be used fittingly to the shoulders, waist and the like. In another alternative, a guide rail is installed, and the corpse-securing parts 12 can be moved in accordance with the size of the corpse.
In the above, the present invention was described based on the specific preferred embodiments and the attached drawings, but it should be apparent to those ordinarily skilled in the art that various changes and modifications can be added without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention, which will be defined in the appended claims.
