GOLF GAME OPERATING TERMINAL
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a golf game operating terminal, and in
particular to a golf game operating terminal which is implemented by a
GPS(Global Positioning System) and an electronic compass, and in particular to a
golf game operating terminal which is capable of informing a flight deviation of a
golf ball to a user when a golf ball is flown in a certain direction during a golf game,
storing a data of the deviation, correcting a posture of a player when the player
impacts the ball and gradually decreasing the deviation of the flight of a golf ball
for thereby enhancing a game performance and in particular is capable of
enhancing a game performance by increasing an accuracy of the flight of a golf
ball by off-setting a club based on the stored data in the case that a player is
middle-aged and older who are difficult for correcting the posture.
2. Description of the Background Art
Generally, the golf game is finished when players finish a 18 hole or 9 hole
course one time or 2~4 times. In the golf game, a player impacts a golf ball to fly
over a fairway from a tee box provided in each course and inserts the ball into a
hole cup formed on a green. A player who has a highest score wins the game. The
factors which affect the scores are a pre-knowledge with respect to a
corresponding course, the weather, a player's ability, an impacting power, and a
game operation ability concerning a flying direction and remaining distance to a
corresponding hole.
Recently, in order to have a higher score, a golf game operating terminal is
used, The above golf operating terminal is capable of providing a detailed
information concerning a corresponding golf course, a help concerning each
position and a remaining distance to a corresponding hole.
The terminal having a GPS(hereinafter referred to as GPS terminal) is
widely used. The above GPS terminal includes a GPS data receiving unit for
receiving a GPS data needed for a golf game operation from a satellite and
processing the same, an information processing module for processing a GPS
data needed for a golf game operation inputted through a golf country club control
center, a database for storing a weather information of a corresponding golf course,
an altitude information of the holes, and a distance information from a player to
each hole based on the level of the ground, a selection signal generation unit for
providing a user selection signal based on the selection of the user, a central
processing unit for reading and processing a golf game operating information
corresponding to the inputted data and signal from the database, and a display
unit for displaying the golf game operating information read and processed by the
central processing unit on a screen.
However, in the conventional GPS terminal, a certain information for
decreasing the par at every time when the player plays the game. However, the
information is not provided for decreasing the par in the next game.
Namely, if the golfer uses the GPS terminal, the golfer plays based on the
information concerning the weather at the time of play, the remaining distance from
the player to a hole cup and the ground condition of the fairway and green for
thereby obtaining a good score. However, the above information is temporal. The
golfer does not recognize the deviated angle and distance of the ball hit by the
golfer. In addition, the golfer does not recognize how to play in the next time. In the
conventional GPS terminal, it is impossible to obtain an advanced assistance and
data value.
The above advanced assistance and data are needed for a person who
studies the golf and are needed for an old person whose posture is not easily
corrected for correcting his playing posture.

The embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference
to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a block diagram illustrating the construction of the present
invention, and Figure 2 is a front view illustrating a golf game operating terminal
according to the present invention.
As shown therein, the golf game operating terminal according to the present
invention includes a main controller 4, an information display unit 1 connected
with the main controller 4, an information input unit 2, a memory unit 3, a GPS
data receiving unit 6, a serial communication interface unit 7 and an electronic
compass unit 5.
The information display unit 1 displays various information, so that the user
views the same and as shown in Figure 2 is formed of a LCD display unit, a FVT
display unit, etc.
The information input unit 2 inputs various information by an apparatus user
for thereby selecting a certain information and is formed of a key pad, a touch
panel, etc.
The memory unit 3 is a non-volatile memory and stores various information
inputted by the user, various information uploaded using a computer and a
database generated by a program when the apparatus according to the present
invention is being used. Even when the power of the terminal according to the
present invention is turned off, all information and database are maintained.
The GPS data receiving unit 6 receives an information related to the current
position from a plurality of GPS artificial satellite which are flying around the
earth's orbit and computes the altitude, longitude of the golf course and the
altitude information in a digital form and transfers the data to the main controller.
The serial communication interface unit 7 is connected with a computer(not
shown) or other storing apparatus and downloads the information such as an
information generated by the user under control of the main controller, namely,
the par, flying distance, offset, etc. stored in the main apparatus, into the
computer and on the contrary uploads the information such as the positions of
each hole of a corresponding country club, distance, direction and slope of the
ground.
At this time, an external computer represents a main computer of the
country club.
The electronic compass 5 judges the point of the compass using the
terminal according to the present invention by the user and converts the point of
the compass into a digital data and transfers to the main controller.
The main controller 4 includes an inherent program and controls each
element and reprocesses the altitude, longitude and altitude information of the
position of the terminal according to the present invention for thereby generates
an accurate information and processes the information concerning the green,
hole, and slope of the golf course for thereby computing an additional
information such as a flying distance and direction of the ball, and processes the
information of the point of the compass pointed by the apparatus according to
the present invention and the position information of the current apparatus for
thereby computing an error distance and angle, and processes the signals
inputted from the information input unit for thereby outputting the information
selected by the user and used by the terminal according to the present invention
to the information display unit 1 , and processes thusly generated various
information for thereby generating a database.
The operation state of the present invention will be explained with reference
to the accompanying drawings.
The position information of each course of a country club in which a user
plays and other multiple points are stored in the memory unit 3 in accordance
with a control of the main controller 4 through the serial communication interface
unit 7. As the user selects using the information input unit 2, the main controller
4 reads a corresponding information stored in the memory unit 3 and displays
on the information display unit. A corresponding information is automatically
read based on the following process procedure.
In the case that the golfer having the terminal according to the present
invention tee-shots in the tee box, the menu is displayed by pushing the
selection button 21 of the information input unit 2 of Figure 2, and a cursor(not
shown) is moved to the tee box position for thereby finishing the selection.
Therefore, the terminal according to the present invention recognizes that
the tee shot is performed in the current tee box. In this state, a corresponding
button of the information input unit 2 is pushed, and the user controls the
reference line P of the point of the compass of Figure 3 in the direction that the
player wants to hit the ball and then pushes the selection determination button.
As shown in Figure 3, the electronic compass unit 5 continuously measures
the accurate point of the compass in a certain direction using the apparatus
according to the present invention and outputs to the main controller 4. In the
case that the user wants the storing using the information input unit 2, the main
controller displays the point of the compass inputted from the electronic
compass unit 5 and the position information of the terminal according to the
present invention which is inputted from the GPS data receiving unit 6 on the
information display unit 1 and stores into the memory unit 3.
Next, after the user finishes the tee shot, the player moves to the fallen spot
of the ball. As shown in A of Figure 4, if the fallen spot is in the fair way, the
information input unit 2 is selected to FW(fairway), and as shown in B of Figure
4, if the fallen spot is in the rough, the information input unit 2 is selected to
RH(rough).
In the above described manner, the distance is computed using the point of
the compass and position information stored in the tee box and the current
position information recognized by the GPS, and a deviation distance L and
angle θ are computed based on each position using the triangle rule and is
displayed on the information display unit 1 and is stored in the memory unit.
Thereafter, when the player does a second shot, the terminal is operated in
the same manner as the first shot in the tee box. Since the FW in the position A
or the RH in the position B are selected, the GPS data information and guide
value(this function is the same as the conventional art) are provided. Therefore,
the second shot is performed based on the above GPS data value. The direction
that the player wants to hit again is determined, and the point of the compass
reference line P is determined, and then the shot is performed.
When a certain golf hole or point is selected by the user using the
information input unit 2, the main controller 4 receives the same and computes
the distance between two points and the position information using the triangle
rule with respect to the position information at a certain point which is previously
stored and the longitude and altitude and altitude information of the current
apparatus which are inputted from the GPS database receiving unit 6 and
displays on the information unit 1 and stores into the memory unit 3.
The main controller 4 generates an input information generated in the
above processing procedure and a database by reprocessing various generated
information. The generated database is downloaded into an external computer
or a storing apparatus(not shown) through the serial communication interface
unit 7 in accordance with a control of the main controller.
When the stored and downloaded information values are performed with
respect to the same holes for a certain time, the data may be all or partially
viewed. Therefore, the user plays the next play based on the result value. The
user who uses the terminal according to the present invention is capable of
correcting the impact problems and enhancing the operation of the game.
In particular, the old or middle age golfers are more difficult to correct the
posture compared to a beginner or player in the prime. However, the old or
middle age golfers can easily obtain a good score using the terminal according
to the present invention by offset-controlling the golf club when impacting the
ball, so that the scoring performance of the player is gradually enhanced.
As described above, the terminal according to the present invention
includes a new serial communication interface unit and a new electronic
compass in the GPS terminal, so that it is possible to compute the deviated
angle and distance between a desired direction and the fallen point of the ball
and output the same in a data form. Therefore, the user plays the golf game
based on the data values accumulated whenever the user plays the golf.
The terminal according to the present invention is capable of obtaining a
good score in the golf game and improving the problems of the game for thereby
correcting a bad game habit, so that it is possible to enhance a game
performance.
Therefore, the golf game operating terminal according to the present
invention may be used for learning the golf game and may be well adapted to a
pro-golf player. In the case that it is hard to correct the posture of playing the
game, the terminal according to the present invention helps to correct the
impacting habit and change the impact method for thereby obtaining a good
score.
