To achieve this, the inventive illumination device (4; 15; 29) is a light-emitting diode, which generates at least white light and which is connected to a power source (10) located outside the working section (1; 12; 17-19; 25) via an electrically conductive connection (9) located at least partially inside the working section (1; 12; 17-19; 25).

Description

Medizinisches Instrument und Verfahren zu seiner Herstellung Medical instrument and process for its manufacture
The invention relates to a medical instrument, such as a wound hook, brain spatula, muscle spreader, vaginal speculum and the like, with a working part engaging on the body of the patient to be operated on or examined to keep an intervention site open, the working part having a lighting device on the front for illuminating the intervention site , The invention further relates to a method for producing such an instrument.
Such instruments are known for example from the utility model DE 83 17 820 Ul and DE 89 02 631 Ul. In these known instruments, the exit surface of at least one light guide (plastic or glass fiber cable) integrated in the working part is used as the lighting device for illuminating the engagement point.
These known medical instruments have the disadvantage, among other things, that a relatively large amount of light is lost when coupled into the light guide and therefore strong light sources have to be used in a separate housing. These in turn have to be cooled and connected to correspondingly large power sources. In addition, relatively long light guides between the instruments and the separate additional devices containing the light sources are required.
Laryngoscopes with a spatula designed as a working part and a handle part connected to the spatula are also known, in which a light bulb is arranged on the front side in the spatula as an illumination device. The light bulb is connected via an electrical connection to a power source (battery) arranged in the handle part. A disadvantage of these known medical instruments is, inter alia, that the light intensity of such light bulbs is relatively low and their use in medical instruments is generally not sufficient to keep an intervention site open for illuminating the intervention sites. If, on the other hand, light bulbs that generate a higher light intensity would be used, this inevitably leads to an impermissibly strong heating of the side of the working part facing the point of engagement and thus also of the tissue in the area of the point of engagement.
The invention is based on the object of specifying a medical instrument for keeping an intervention site open with a lighting device arranged on the front side, which ensures high light intensity and precise illumination of the intervention site without complex additional devices, without an inadmissibly high heating of the instrument occurring in the area of the intervention site. A method for producing such an instrument is also to be specified.
This object is achieved in terms of the instrument by the features of claim 1 and in terms of the method by the features of claim 8.
Further, particularly advantageous configurations of the invention are disclosed in the subclaims.
The invention is essentially based on the idea of not using a light guide or an incandescent lamp as the lighting device, but rather at least one (high-performance) light-emitting diode (LED) which emits white light, miniaturized in particular using SMD technology (SMD = surface mounted device). manufactured LEDs have proven.
It has proven to be particularly advantageous if a plurality of light-emitting diodes arranged in an array-like manner are used as the lighting device, each of which is connected via an electrically conductive connection to a continuously operating or a clocked current source. In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the power source (for example a rechargeable battery) is located in a handle part connected to the working part.
So that the use of the medical instrument is not restricted by the outer contour of the light-emitting diodes, it has proven to be expedient if the light-emitting diodes are embedded in a translucent material (e.g. plastic) which is flush with the surface of the working part.
For the practical use of the instruments according to the invention, it is of great importance that there are no gap-shaped openings between the lighting device which is led to the surface of the respective instrument and the region of the working part surrounding this device, because otherwise blood always gets into these gap-shaped openings during operations, which can only be eliminated with an extremely great effort.
In particular when using a metal work part, it has therefore proven to be advantageous to insert the prefabricated lighting device (e.g. several white LEDs soldered together) into a corresponding recess in the work part and then to cast the recess without a gap with a suitable plastic. In order to achieve a good edge connection, in particular in the case of instruments with a working part made of metal, it has proven to be expedient to wet the walls of this recess with a suitable plastic before inserting the LEDs into the recess to be cast.
Es zeigen:In a further embodiment of the invention, the working part (and possibly also the handle part) is not made of metal but from a suitable plastic. For the production of the instrument according to the invention, it has proven to be advantageous in this case if the prefabricated lighting device and the electrical connections (cables) connected to the lighting device are fixed to a heat-dissipating metal core and this arrangement is then embedded in plastic (ie, for example, in a appropriate shape, which is then cast with plastic). Further details and advantages of the invention result from the following exemplary embodiments explained with reference to figures. Show it:
