Abstract

An application engine framework is provided for controlling access by a user of one or more applications to at least one database. The engine comprises a profiles module having the following: access permissions for managing data access privileges; menus for viewing by a user; and functional permissions for restricting selected functionality to selected user profiles; wherein the access and functional permissions and the menus are configurable to provide a specific profile for each of a plurality of users.
