Description

THE OPERATIONAL METHOD AND SYSTEM OF THE TELECOMMUNICATION DEVICE FOR THE ELECTRONIC CASH
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a mobile communication device having an electronic cash function.
Background Art In general, mobile communication devices include mobile phones, PDA (personal digital assistant) having a mobile communication function, IMT-2000 devices, wireless Internet devices, and mobile communication devices for shop. Electronic cash of the present invention can be achieved through electronically recording a value of cash to a semiconductor chip or an electronic record medium and varying the value of cash according to use of electronic cash. That is, the amount of cash is recorded in the semiconductor chip or in the electronic record medium as electronic information. A device having the above function is sometimes called "electronic wallet".
In the following description, a term "recharge" means that cash (fund) is electronically withdrawn, a term "reverse-recharge" means that cash (fund) is electronically saved, a term "cash transfer" means that cash (fund) is electronically transferred, and a term "payment transfer" means that payment is electronically carried out. In detail, the recharge means a process for electronically updating the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in an electronic cash management company by subtracting recharged cash from the balance and for electronically adding the predetermined amount of cash to be recharged to the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in a mobile communication device. The reverse-recharge means a process for electronically updating the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in the mobile communication device by subtracting reverse-recharged cash from the balance and for electronically adding the predetermined amount of cash to be reverse-recharged to the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in the electronic cash management company. The cash transfer means a process for electronically updating the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in the mobile communication device of a first user by subtracting a predetermined amount of cash requested to be transferred from the balance and for electronically adding the predetermined amount of cash to the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in the mobile communication device of a second user. The payment transfer means a process for electronically updating the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in the mobile communication device by subtracting a predetermined . amount of payment requested to be paid from the balance and for electronically adding the predetermined amount of cash to the balance of electronic cash electronically memorized in an electronic cash terminal used in stores or shops . A non-contact type short distance wireless communication manner of the present invention means that two wireless communication devices directly exchange electronic signals with each other without utilizing a network. Such wireless communication manner includes an RF (radio frequency) manner, an infrared communication manner, a local area network, and a bluetooth communication manner. The wireless communication manner may be further developed as communication technology has become advanced. Hereinafter, prior arts relating to the wireless communication device will be described. One of the prior arts is a mobile credit card approval terminal, in which a financial settlement function is added to the mobile communication device. That is, a credit card approval function is added to the mobile communication device.
In addition, a charge settlement system by using the mobile communication device called "mobile phone settlement system" has been widely spread in the Internet to settle a charge through the mobile communication device. The above system is utilized in on-line settlement, such as Internet settlement. In addition, the mobile communication device is used as an auxiliary device for "tele-banking or mobile phone internet banking" to perform the cash-transfer between accounts of banks. However, the mobile communication device is not a storing device, so the mobile communication device has no recharge and reverse- recharge functions. Especially, the mobile phone settlement system mainly performs a user identification function based on the phone number of the mobile communication device.
Therefore, in the above-described systems, the mobile communication device acts as an auxiliary device for the financial transaction and electronic cash. Although there have been various attempts for adding an electronic cash function to the mobile communication device, they fail to realize the anticipated results.
On the other hand, although it is not directly related to the mobile communication device, plastic card type electronic cash has been developed and used in an electronic cash field. Plastic card type electronic cash is classified into magnetic tape type electronic cash and a semiconductor chip mounting type electronic cash depending on sorts of information storing devices as used. However, such plastic card type electronic cash has a space limitation when performing recharge and reverse-recharge functions of cash, and requires ATM or a recharge center as auxiliary devices, thereby resulting inconvenience.
Disclosure of the Invention
Although many scholars and engineers expect that electronic cash will be used as next-generation cash, electronic cash is not widely spread. The reason is that conventional card-type electronic cash is inconvenient as compared with of conventional paper money and coin in view of withdrawing, saving, transferring, payment, and balance checking, so conventional card-type electronic cash does not achieve the advantages of conventional paper money and coin. In addition, conventional card- type electronic cash does not attain immaterial advantages of conventional paper money and coin, such as anonymous characteristic. Although electronic cash has some disadvantages as compared with presently used paper money and coin, if electronic cash has unique advantages in use and technology, it will provide convenience to the user while compensating for the disadvantages.
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and it is a first object of the present invention to provide a method and a system capable of conveniently recharging and reverse- recharging electronic cash in any place through a mobile communication device having a function of electronic cash without using a special purpose terminal.
A second object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system capable of directly/indirectly performing electronic cash transfer and payment transfer with a convenience manner, which cannot be achieved through a conventional electronic cash device in the form of a plastic card, by using a mobile communication device having a function of electronic cash.
A third object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system capable of electronically performing recharge, reverse-recharge, cash-transfer, and payment transfer of electronic cash in a convenience manner similar to those of conventional paper money and coil. A fourth object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system capable of easily checking the present balance and transaction details by using record recorded in a record medium accommodated in a mobile communication device having an electronic cash function.
A fifth object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system capable of ensuring anonymity and protecting privacy of users while keeping conventional customs and rules to allow persons , who prefer to anonymity and privacy provided by conventional money, to use electronic cash.
A sixth object of the present invention is to provide a method and a system capable of improving reliability of transactions by allowing users to visually check the transaction process of electronic cash including recharge, reverse-recharge, cash- transfer, and payment-transfer processes.
A seventh object of the present invention is to provide a management method and an operating system of electronic cash used in the mobile communication device, mobile communication network, Internet network, electronic cash management company computer, and electronic cash terminal of a store.
To achieve the above objects, according to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided an electronic cash operating system including a first user's mobile communication device, a second user's mobile communication device, an electronic cash terminal of a store, a mobile communication network, an Internet network, and a computer system of an electronic cash management company. In addition, the computer system of an electronic cash management company includes ARS and SMS, a home page server, and a computer. The first and second user's mobile communication devices include a receiving/transmitting device, a screen, an input device, information controlling, calculating and recording device, and an external interface. The electronic cash terminal of a store includes components the same as the first and second user's mobile communication devices.

FIGS. 5 and 6 are views showing working flows of a payment-transfer of electronic cash according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention.
A first embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2A, relates to a method for recharging electronic cash to a user's mobile communication device by receiving electronic cash from an electronic cash management company or a financial agency having user's account information through a mobile communication network, when the user wants to increase the balance of electronic cash stored in the user's mobile communication device by withdrawing money from the account stored in the electronic cash management company or the financial agency.
Firstly, the user having a mobile communication device B105 accesses to the ARS (automatic response system) and SMS (short message servers; B109) through a mobile communication network BIO6 so as to recharge electronic cash to the mobile communication device B105 by receiving electronic cash from a system B107 of the electronic cash management company. Then, a message of the SMS (for example, Do you want to continue a recharge?) is sent to a screen B101 of the mobile communication device B105. At this time, the user inputs a number of user's account and an amount of cash to be recharged by using an input device B102 of the user's mobile communication device B105. Then, an information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 of the user's mobile communication device B105 determines whether or not the amount of electronic cash to be recharged matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 of the user's mobile communication device B105 determines that the amount of electronic cash to be recharged matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the user's mobile communication device B105 provides the present balance of electronic cash and a number A101 of the user's mobile communication device B105 recorded in the information controlling, calculating and recording device BIO3 to the system BIO7 of the electronic cash management company through the mobile communication network BIO6 together with a number of the account and the amount of electronic cash to be recharged. Then, a computer B108 of the electronic cash management company determines whether or not the account number and mobile communication device number match with warranted numbers and whether or not withdrawal from the account is possible. In this step, if approval of withdrawal is allowed, the computer B108 of the electronic cash management company adds recharged electronic cash to the present balance of electronic cash recorded in the user's mobile communication device B105. Then, the system B107 of the electronic cash management company sends total balance information and recharge finish information to the user's mobile communication device B105 through the mobile communication network B106. According to the present invention, this step can be carried out by means of special characters or symbols . In addition, when information regarding the electronic cash balance is received, a receiver's system may regard it as a recharge finish notification. That is, according to the present invention, the recharge finish notification means the electronic rules between a receiver and a transmitter notifying that the recharge step is normally carried out. Then, the user's mobile communication device B105 updates present balance information stored in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 by adding recharged electronic cash to the present balance and stores information in connection with the recharge work including a recharge date, a recharge time, an amount of recharged electronic cash, and the account number in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. After that, the user's mobile communication device B105 displays an image notifying the finish of the recharge work in a screen B101. Therefore, the user can use electronic cash as required based on the present balance after checking the finish of the recharge work.
If modifying the first embodiment of the present invention, the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 of the user's mobile communication device B105 can perform the function for adding recharged electronic cash to the present balance, instead of the computer BIO8 of the electronic cash management company. In this case, the present balance information is omitted when the user's mobile communication device B105 sends information into the system BIO7 of the electronic cash management company. In addition, total balance information is omitted when the system B107 of the electronic cash management company sends information into the user's mobile communication device B105. The work for adding recharged electronic cash to the present balance is carried out after the recharge finish notification is sent to the user's mobile communication device B105 from the system B107 of the electronic cash management company. At this time, the present balance of electronic cash recorded in the user's mobile communication device B105 is updated while being increased by the user's mobile communication device B105.
A second embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 3A, relates to a method for reverse- recharging electronic cash to the account stored in an electronic cash management company or a financial agency having user's account information through a mobile communication network, when the user wants to reduce the balance of electronic cash stored in the user's mobile communication device and save money in the account.
Firstly, the user having the mobile communication device B105 accesses to the ARS and SMS B109 through the mobile communication network B106 so as to reverse- recharge electronic cash to the system B107 of the electronic cash management company. Then, the user inputs a number of user's account and an amount of cash to be reverse-recharged by using an input device B102 of the user's mobile communication device B105 corresponding to messages transmitted to the screen B101 of the users mobile communication device B105 from the electronic cash management company. Then, the user's mobile communication device B105 determines whether or not an amount of electronic cash to be reverse-recharged matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the user's mobile communication device B105 determines that the amount of electronic cash to be reverse-recharged matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the user's mobile communication device B105 provides the present balance of electronic cash and a number A103 of the user's mobile communication device B105 recorded in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 to the system B107 of the electronic cash management company through the mobile communication network B106 together with the number of the account and the amount of electronic cash to be reverse-recharged. Then, the computer B108 of the electronic cash management company determines whether or not the account number and mobile communication device number match with warranted numbers and whether or not save of electronic cash is possible. In this step, if approval of save is allowed, the computer B108 of the electronic cash management company subtracts electronic cash to be reverse-recharged from the present balance of electronic cash recorded in the user's mobile communication device B105. Then, the system B107 of the electronic cash management company sends total balance information and reverse-recharge finish information to the user's mobile communication device B105 through the mobile communication network B106. Then, the user's mobile communication device B105 updates present balance information stored in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 by subtracting reverse-recharged electronic cash from the present balance and stores information in connection with the reverse-recharge work including a reverse-recharge date, a reverse-recharge time, an amount of reverse-recharged electronic cash, and the account number in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. After that, the user's mobile communication device B105 displays an image notifying the finish of reverse-recharge work in the screen B101. Therefore, the user can use electronic cash as required based on the present balance after checking the finish of the reverse-recharge work.
If modifying the second embodiment of the present invention, the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103 of the user's mobile communication device B105 can perform the function for subtracting reverse-recharged electronic cash from the present balance, instead of the computer B108 of the electronic cash management company. In this case, present balance information is omitted when the user's mobile communication device B105 sends information into the system BIO7 of the electronic cash management company. In addition, total balance information is omitted when the system B107 of the electronic cash management company sends information into the user's mobile communication device B105. The work for subtracting reverse-recharged electronic cash from the present balance is carried out after the reverse-recharge finish notification is sent to the user's mobile communication device B105 from the system B107 of the electronic cash management company. At this time, the present balance of electronic cash recorded in the user's mobile communication device B105 is updated while being reduced by the user's mobile communication device B105.
A third embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4A, relates to a method for transferring electronic cash stored in the- mobile communication device of a first user to the mobile communication device of a second user, if the first user wants to give electronic cash to the second user. The third embodiment of the present invention can be adapted when two mobile communication devices are arranged while making contact with each other or arranged within a range capable of communicating with each other without using a mobile communication network. Firstly, the first and second users switch an operating mode of mobile communication devices B105 and B 113 into an electronic cash-transfer mode. Then, the first user inputs an amount of electronic cash to be transferred by using the input device B102 according to messages displayed in the screen BlOl of the mobile communication device B105. After that, the mobile communication devices B105 and B113 of the first and second users are arranged to make contact with each other or to be adjacent to each other. Then, . the mobile communication device B105 of the first user checks whether or not an amount of electronic cash to be transferred matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the amount of electronic cash to be transferred properly matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the mobile communication device B105 of the first user sends information regarding electronic cash to be transferred and the number of the mobile communication device B105 of the first user to the mobile communication device B113 of the second user through an external interface B104. As mentioned above, the external interface B104 transfers information through making contact with the mobile communication device B105 (contact type) or through infrared ray, RF signals and the likes (non-contact type). Then, the mobile communication device B113 of the second user receives information through its external interface B104. Upon receiving information, the mobile communication device B113 of the second user temporarily stores information in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, and sends information regarding the number of the mobile communication device of the second user and a partial finish notification A106 of electronic cash-transfer to the mobile communication terminal B105 through the external interface B104 thereof. As same as the external interface B104 of the mobile communication device B105, the external interface B104 of the mobile communication device B113 transfers information through making contact with the mobile communication device B113 (contact type) or through infrared ray, RF signals and the likes (non- contact type). Then, the mobile communication terminal B105 of the first user again checks whether or not the transaction is normally carried out in match with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the transaction is normally carried out in match with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the mobile communication terminal B105 of the first user sends a finish notification A107 of electronic cash-transfer to the second user through the external interface B104. After that, the mobile communication terminal B105 of the first user sends information regarding electronic cash calculated by subtracting transferred electronic cash from the previous balance thereof to the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, and the mobile communication device B113 of the second user sends information regarding electronic cash calculated by adding transferred electronic cash to the previous balance thereof to the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, thereby updating the present balance information stored in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. Then, each mobile communication device stores information in connection with the electronic cash-transfer working including an electronic cash-transfer date, an electronic cash-transfer time, an amount of transferred electronic cash, and the account number in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. After that, each mobile communication device displays an image notifying the finish of electronic cash-transfer work in the screen BlOl. Therefore, the user can use electronic cash as required based on the present balance after checking the finish of the electronic cash-transfer work. If it is required to ensure anonymity of users, the number of each mobile communication device is not transmitted to the other mobile communication device.
A fourth embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4A, relates to a method for transferring electronic cash stored in the mobile communication device of the first user to the mobile communication device of the second user, if the first user wants to give electronic cash to the second user.
Firstly, the first user makes a call to the mobile communication device B113 of the second user through the mobile communication network by using the mobile communication device B105 of the first user. Then, the first and second users switch an operating mode of mobile communication devices B105 and B 113 into an electronic cash-transfer mode. Then, the first user inputs an amount of electronic cash to be transferred by using the input device B102 according to messages displayed in the screen BlOl of the mobile communication device B105. After that, the mobile communication device B105 of the first user checks whether or not an amount of electronic cash to be transferred properly matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the amount of electronic cash to be transferred properly matches with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the mobile communication device B105 of the first user sends information regarding electronic cash to be transferred and the number A105 of the mobile communication device B105 of the first user to the mobile communication device B113 of the second user through an external interface B106. Upon receiving information, the mobile communication device B113 of the second user temporarily stores information in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, and sends information regarding the number of the mobile communication device of the second user and a partial finish notification A108 of electronic cash-transfer to the mobile communication terminal B105 through the external interface B106. Then, the mobile communication terminal B105 of the first user again checks whether or not the transaction is normally carried out in match with the predetermined limitation and regulation. If the transaction is normally carried out in match with the predetermined limitation and regulation, the mobile communication terminal BIO5 of the first user sends a finish notification A107 of electronic cash-transfer to the second user through the external interface B106. After that, the mobile communication terminal B105 of the first user sends information regarding electronic cash calculated by subtracting transferred electronic cash from the previous balance thereof to the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, and the mobile communication device B113 of the second user sends information regarding electronic cash calculated by adding transferred electronic cash to the previous balance thereof to the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103, thereby updating present balance information stored in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. In addition, each mobile communication device stores information in connection with the electronic cash- transfer work including an electronic cash-transfer date, an electronic cash-transfer time, an amount of transferred electronic cash, and the account number in the information controlling, calculating and recording device B103. After that, each mobile communication device displays an image notifying the finish of electronic cash-transfer work in the screen BlOl.
