Abstract

In accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the invention, an antenna structure (200) is provided having a “figure eight”-type geometry. Preferably, the “figure eight” antenna structure is a planar antenna having two center feed contacts (193A, 193B) which form a feed point for the antenna. The unique antenna structure has particular application in tag reader antenna systems for use in RFID (radio frequency identification) applications (13.56MHz) and the like. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, multiple RF (radio frequency) antennae are utilized as part of an intelligent station to track items tagged with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags.
