Description

Hydraulically operated removal/dismounting apparatus for building units
The present invention relates to a removal/dismounting apparatus for building units, which is adapted for placement between a unit to be removed and a supporting wall of the building.
The invention relates to a removal/dismounting apparatus applicable to all sorts of building demolition work as well as to other removal and splitting operation performed in various sectors of construction industry. A particular application comprises the dismounting or removal of cladding panel units, as well as the dismounting/removal of dropped ceilings. The apparatus is useful for tearing down cladding layers of any type of wall materials (composite, wood, board, concrete, brick). Finnish patent application FI 981796 discloses a stripping device for wall cladding, which is carried in use by a supporting cable and which includes an elongated beam with a torsion bar articulated in its bottom end, and which is fitted with a pressure cylinder between a top end of the torsion bar and a top end of the beam for pushing the torsion bar at its top end outward of the supporting wall surface. This device requires manual placement between the wall and the cladding and it is not capable of removing for example sections of a wall panel or unit present between window openings on top of each other. In the process of tearing down high- rise objects, such as apartment buildings, the device requires the use of scaffolding in order to enable pushing of the device by manual force between the wall and the cladding.
Accordingly, it is an objective of the present invention to provide a removal/dismounting apparatus, which is operable by means of a working machine for avoiding the use of scaffolding and which apparatus functions more effectively than prior known equipment and additionally enables ripping off the cladding of wall panels or units left between windows or the like on top of each other. In order to achieve this objective, a removal/dismounting apparatus of the invention is characterized in that the apparatus comprises a body member, which provides a wide supporting surface bearing in use of the apparatus against the supporting structures of a building to be demolished, a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the body member, as well as a spreader element connected pivotably to the body member and the hydraulic cylinder and having its dismounting end provided with a removal/crushing element for applying a loading force to the inside surface of the dismountable unit over a relatively small area, the articulation between the spreader element and the body member being located at the opposite end with respect to the dismounting end, and that the apparatus is adapted for connection by its body member mechanically to the lifting arm of a working machine, the hydraulic cylinder being adapted for connection to the working machine's hydraulics, the apparatus being thus operable by means of the very working machine's controls, thereby enabling operation of the apparatus in various positions.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows schematically an apparatus of the invention fitted between a fixed wall section and a dismountable cladding,
Fig. 2 shows an apparatus of the invention from the front side in a schematic view,
Fig. 3 shows an apparatus of the invention in connection with a working machine, and
Fig. 4 shows an apparatus of the invention in a schematic longitudinal section. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a body member 1, which establishes a wide supporting surface la bearing against a fixed wall unit 4 of the building. The body 1 is pivotably fitted at an articulation 16 with a hydraulic cylinder 6, having the rod of its extending piston provided with a 5 spreader element 2 which is linked by one of its ends to the body member 1 at an articulation 8. The spreader element 2 has its free end 2a designed as a removal/crushing element which in use of the apparatus applies a loading force to the inside surface of a dismountable unit 3 over a relatively small area while the body member 1 has its supporting surface la bearing against0 the fixed wall unit 4 over a substantially larger area. An optimal relationship for the surface areas of the bearing surface la and the removal/crushing element 2a can be determined e.g. experimentally, and the relationship or ratio can be e.g. within the range of 10:1 to 50:1. The body member 1 has its top end, in the position shown in figs. 1 and 4, fitted with a mounting5 plate 14 for connecting the apparatus to the lifting arm of a working machine. The working machine can be e.g. an excavator, a tractor, a robot device or the like. Fig. 3 illustrates the application of a removal/dismounting apparatus 10 in connection with a robot device 13, said robot device 13 being in turn connected to the reacher of an excavator. The dismounting o apparatus is preferably provided with quick-release coupling elements for coupling the apparatus to the lifting arm of a working machine. In fig. 1, reference numeral 5 indicates an insulation space, a typical insulation therein being mineral wool. 5 The hydraulic cylinder 6 included in the apparatus is linked with the hydraulics of a working machine proper by means of a connection 15.
In operation, the inventive apparatus is maneuvered by means of the very working machine's controls, the working machine's output hydraulics being o used for operating the hydraulic cylinder. This solution enables a high-speed demolition action, which requires neither scaffolding nor hand tools and whereby a single person is able to handle all working sequences considerably faster and more efficiently than before.
