背景技術

[0007] この除振手段によりノイズを排除し脳磁界を精確に計測することは可能となったの であるが、なお問題となって!/、たのは計測装置を使用するのにそれを極低温状態に 維持しなければならないが、そのことは冷却能力的に見て冷凍機の設計製作上、そ して保守管理上極めて困難であって、殆ど非現実的であった。すなわち、極低温容 器 13は液体ヘリウム (一 270°C)を 40リットル程収容しているのである力 稼動中これ が蒸発して極低温容器 13のダクトから大気中に排出される。その量は一日当たり 20 リットル程度であり、そのため一日置きに 20リットルの液体ヘリウムを補充しなければ ならない。年間で補充する液体ヘリウムは高額となり(約 1、 000万円)、また極低温で あるためその作業は危険であって、補充のため危険物を扱える人員も確保しなけれ ばならな力つた。このような保守管理上の問題の解消のためにも、液体へリウムでは なくヘリウムガスを冷媒として利用し、ポンプを利用して冷凍機カゝらヘリウムガスを循 環供給することが考えられるが、極低温容器 13が必要とする大量のヘリウムガスを供 給できるガス冷凍機は大規模なものとなって、その製作、設置、稼働は現実には不可 能である。冷凍機でヘリウムガスを循環させて冷却するのは、冷却能力的に極低温 容器 13よりも高温 (一 250°C)で冷却すれば足りる磁気シールド包囲体 111の冷却が 限界である。このため極低温容器 13は液体ヘリウムの消耗を補充しながら液冷し、二 重壁内の高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体 111へはヘリウムガスを循環させガス冷却し ている。
発明の開示

[0009] 再び図 4を参照する。極低温容器 13とこれを包囲する中空の円筒状真空熱絶縁構 造体 11との間には環状の空間があって、この包囲空間は構造体 11の外側の周囲環 境とつながつている。そのため、矢で示すように極低温容器 13に熱が侵入して液体 ヘリウムの蒸発を促進して 、ることを発見した。本発明はこの発見に基礎を置 1、て ヽ る。この外部からの熱侵入を阻止するには中空の円筒状真空熱絶縁構造体 11と極 低温容器 13とを一体構造として包囲空間をなくすれば足りる。事実、この一体構造 によって液体ヘリウムの消費は半減する。また、この一体構造にすることは円筒状真 空熱絶縁構造体 11と極低温容器 13との相対的微動をも排除して床力もの振動によ るノイズ発生の原因も除去することになつて、除振装置は実質的には不要となる。
[0010] さらにこの構成を基礎としてヘリウムガスを断熱膨張させて液ィ匕し、それにより液体 ヘリウムの蒸発分を補充し、または液ィ匕したヘリウムガス (液体ヘリウム)を SQUID磁 気センサに熱伝導により間接的に接触させて冷却するようにもできる。この場合も、一 体構造ィ匕による熱侵入の減少によりヘリウムガス冷凍機への負荷が軽減されている ためにヘリウムガス冷凍機の容量は現実的な大きさのもので足りる。このようにして S QUID磁気センサの冷却を取り扱 、難 、液体ヘリウムではなぐ外部磁界の侵入を 阻止する高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体の冷却と同様ヘリウムガスにより実施できるこ ととなる。その結果へリウムガス冷凍機を運転する電気エネルギーのみで脳磁界計測 装置を稼働できる。
[0011] すなわち、本発明の超伝導磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置の計測構造体は、 包囲外壁と、この包囲外壁内で上方に閉じた上部空間を限定する第 1の包囲内壁 と、下方に開いた下部空間を限定する第 2の包囲内壁とを備え、第 1の包囲内壁の 底と第 2の包囲内壁の天井とを対向させて配置して、前記の包囲外壁内と第 1の包 囲内壁と第 2の包囲内壁とから成る気密構造体、
前記の包囲外壁と前記の第 1と第 2の包囲内壁との間に形成された環状真空空間 に配した高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体と高透磁率磁性体の第 2の包囲体、 第 1の包囲内壁の底と第 2の包囲内壁の天井とを対向させて形成した中空隔壁に 限定した人体の頭部を包囲する頭部収容域に沿って前記の上部空間の内側に配置 した SQUID磁気センサ
を備え、前記の上部空間では冷却媒体を介して SQUID磁気センサを冷却し、前 記の環状真空空間内では冷却媒体を介して前記の高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体を 冷却するようにしている。
[0012] この側壁からの熱侵入を遮る一体化構造により冷媒の損耗を著しく低減し、併せて 振動による計測への雑音をも排除することができる。事実、超伝導磁気シールド脳磁 界計測装置は現実的な冷却能力の極低温冷凍機により稼働できるものとなった。
[0013] 上部空間の冷却媒体は上部空間に収容された液体ヘリウムであり、高温超伝導体 の第 1の包囲体を冷却する冷却媒体はヘリゥムガスである。液体ヘリゥムの稼働中の 損耗は半減する。
[0014] 上部空間に断熱膨張室をさらに備え、上部空間の冷却媒体は上部空間に収容さ れた液体ヘリウムであり、そして断熱膨張室に供給される冷却媒体はヘリウムガスで あって、このヘリウムガスは断熱膨張室で液ィ匕し、それにより生じた液体ヘリウムを上 部空間に滴下して蒸発分を補充する。そして高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体は同一ま たは別の冷凍機力 の冷却媒体であるヘリウムガスにより冷却される。
[0015] この構成により稼働中液体ヘリウムの損耗は補充され、液体ヘリウムの補填による 脳磁界計測の中断なしの連続稼働が実現される。
[0016] 上部空間に断熱膨張室をさらに備え、上部空間の冷却媒体は上部空間に収容さ れた液体ヘリウムであり、そして断熱膨張室に供給された冷却媒体もヘリウムガスで あって、このヘリウムガスは断熱膨張室で液ィ匕して前記の SQUID磁気センサを熱伝 導により間接的に冷却する。高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体を冷却する冷却媒体はへ リウムガスである。
[0017] この構成によりヘリウムガス冷却ポンプを作動させて SQUID磁気センサと磁場遮 蔽の高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体とを冷却することができる。このようにして取り扱い 難 ヽ液体窒素や液体ヘリウムなどの冷媒を用いる必要はなくなり、冷凍機運転のた めの電気エネルギーのみで脳磁界計測装置の連続稼働が可能になる。冷凍機は商 用電源(100ボルト)で作動し、小型でもあり、また計測構造体は振動に対してセンサ を不感としているので脳磁界計測装置を車両に搭載して巡回診断に使用することが できる。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0018] 図 1を参照する。本発明の超伝導磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置の円筒状の計測 構造体 1は、包囲外壁 114と、この包囲外壁 114内で上方に閉じた上部空間 S1を限 定する第 1の包囲内壁 115と、下方に開いた下部空間 S2を限定する第 2の包囲内壁 116とを備えた気密構造体を含んでいる。図に示すように、第 1の包囲内壁 115の底 と第 2の包囲内壁 116の天井とを対向させて包囲外壁 114内に第 1の包囲内壁 115 と第 2の包囲内壁 116とを配置する。
[0019] 包囲外壁 114と第 1と第 2の包囲内壁 115、 116との間に形成された環状空間に高 温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体 111と高透磁率磁性体の第 2の包囲体 112とを同中心 に配置する。この環状空間は真空にされ、真空室を形成し、気密構造体は外部に対 して熱絶縁状態を生ずる。
[0020] 第 1の包囲内壁 115の底と第 2の包囲内壁 116の天井とを対向させて形成した真 空隔壁部 113の中央に凹所をつくって人体の頭部を包囲する頭部収容域 131を形 成し、この収容域に沿って上部空間 S1の内側に SQUID磁気センサ 15を配置する。 20はこれらのセンサ 15の支持体である。
[0021] 上部空間 S1では液体ヘリウム Hを介して SQUID磁気センサ 15を冷却し、環状真 空空間内では高温超伝導体の 1の包囲体 111の冷却蛇菅(図示せず)に循環冷却 装置 12からヘリウムガスを送って冷却する。被験者は頭部を凹所に入れて非金属性 の椅子 17に腰掛ける。
[0022] 本発明の脳磁界計測装置と従来技術の脳磁界計測装置との違いを明確にするた めに、図 5A及び図 5Bを参照する。図 5A及び図 5Bは、ぞれぞれ、図 1及び図 4に示 すような本発明及び従来技術の脳磁界計測装置の計測構造体の構造を図解的に示 したものである。本発明の脳磁界計測装置は、図 5Aに示すように、包囲外壁 114と、 第 1の包囲内壁 115と、第 2の包囲内壁 116とから成る 1つの真空室 VIを有する。こ れに対し、従来の脳磁界計測装置は、図 5Bに示すように、円筒状真空熱絶縁構造 体 11と極低温容器 13が分離している。特に、極低温容器 13が真空室 V3を有する 構造においては、円筒状真空熱絶縁構造体 11の真空室 V2と極低温容器 13の真空 室 V3も、分離している。なお、図 5A及び図 5Bでは、図解上、真空シールを形成す る各真空壁の端部が開放されて描かれているが、実際には、これら各真空壁の端部 は互いに密閉され、 O—シールリングなどで真空シールされる。
[0023] 図 2を参照する。本発明の第 2の実施例であるこの計測構造体 1は、第 1の包囲内 壁 115が限定する上部空間 S1に断熱膨張室 117を設けた以外は図 1の第 1の実施 例と同じである。上部空間の冷却媒体は液体ヘリウム Hであり、そして断熱膨張室 11 7に供給される冷却媒体はヘリウムガスであって、このヘリウムガスは断熱膨張室 117 内で液ィ匕して、液体ヘリウムとなって上部空間内に滴下し、稼働中の蒸発分を補充 する。高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体 111を冷却するヘリウムガスはヘリゥム冷凍機 1 2が供給し、断熱膨張室 117へはヘリウム冷凍機 214が供給している。これにより冷 媒の補充のために計測を中断することなく脳磁界計測装置を連続稼働させることが できる。
[0024] 図 3を参照する。本発明の第 3の実施例であるこの計測構造体 1は、断熱膨張室 11 7と SQUIDセンサ 15の支持体 20とを接続する熱伝導体 118を設けた以外は図 2の 第 2の実施例と同じである。 SQIDセンサ 15の支持体 20は熱の良伝導体であって、 これに断熱膨張室 117の液ィ匕したヘリウムを熱伝導体 118を介して間接的に接触さ せ、 SQUIDセンサ 15を熱伝導により冷却する。上部空間 S1は真空とする力 低圧 ヘリウムガスを充填している力 液体ヘリウムは充填していない。この構成により断熱 膨張室 117に供給されるヘリウムガス (20K)は断熱膨張によって断熱膨張室 117内 で液体ヘリウム (4. 3K)となって SQUID磁気センサを熱伝導により間接的に冷却す る。第 1の包囲体 111を冷却するヘリウムガスと断熱膨張室 117に供給するヘリウム ガスとは循環冷却装置 12、 214から供給され、これらの冷却装置を運転する電気工 ネルギーのみで脳磁界計測装置は連続稼働することができる。
産業上の利用可能性
[0025] 本発明の計測構造体により超伝導磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置は現実的な使用 に適するものとなった。特に、第 2、第 3の実施例では商業電源を利用できる環境で 循環冷却装置のみを作動させて脳磁界装置を連続稼働できる。また、ヘリウムガスの みを冷却媒体として利用する第 3実施例では脳磁界装置を車両に搭載した状態で 作動させ、脳の働き (記憶、学習、注意など)を調べたり、脳障害 (注意欠陥、自閉症 、学習障害、精神分裂症など)を診断することが巡回診療の分野にまで拡張できる。 図面の簡単な説明

請求の範囲
[1] 包囲外壁と、この包囲外壁内で上方に閉じた上部空間を限定する第 1の包囲内壁 と、下方に開いた下部空間を限定する第 2の包囲内壁とを備え、前記の包囲外壁内 に第 1の包囲内壁の底と第 2の包囲内壁の天井とを対向させて配置した、包囲外壁と 第 1の包囲内壁と第 2の包囲内壁とから成る気密構造体、
前記の包囲外壁と前記の第 1と第 2の包囲内壁との間に形成された環状真空空間 に配置した高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体と高透磁率磁性体の第 2の包囲体、 第 1の包囲内壁の底と第 2の包囲内壁の天井とを対向させて形成した中空隔壁に 限定した人体の頭部を包囲する頭部収容域に沿って前記の上部空間の内側に配置 した SQUID磁気センサ
を備え、前記の上部空間では冷却媒体を介して SQUID磁気センサを冷却し、前 記の環状真空空間内では冷却媒体を介して前記の高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体を 冷却するようにしたことを特徴とする超伝導磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置の計測構 造体。
[2] 上部空間の冷却媒体は上部空間に収容された液体ヘリウムであり、高温超伝導体 の第 1の包囲体を冷却する冷却媒体はヘリウムガスである請求項 1に記載の超伝導 磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置の計測構造体。
[3] 上部空間に断熱膨張室をさらに備え、上部空間の冷却媒体は上部空間に収容さ れた液体ヘリウムであり、そして断熱膨張室に供給される冷却媒体はヘリウムガスで あって、このヘリウムガスは断熱膨張によって液ィ匕して、断熱膨張室から上部空間に 滴下して蒸発分を補充し、そして高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体を冷却する冷却媒体 はヘリウムガスである請求項 1に記載の超伝導磁気シールド脳磁界計測装置の計測 構造体。
[4] 上部空間に断熱膨張室をさらに備え、断熱膨張室に供給される冷却媒体はへリウ ムガスであって、このヘリウムガスは断熱膨張によって液化し、前記の SQUID磁気セ ンサに熱伝導体を介して間接的に接触してこれを冷却し、そして高温超伝導体の第 1の包囲体を冷却する冷却媒体はへリウムガスである請求項 1に記載の超伝導磁気 シールド脳磁界計測装置の計測構造体。
