Abstract
Multiple systems for delivering satellite video signals are disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention comprises a module comprising a multiswitch, the multiswitch selectively directing the satellite video signals to a plurality of outputs of the multiswitch, an interface for delivering the satellite video signals to at least one receiver, and a power inserter, coupled between the interface and the at least one receiver, for controlling the flow of signals between the multiswitch and the at least one receiver, wherein the power inserter continuously flows the satellite video signals to the at least one receiver while selectively flowing commands between the module and the at least one

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 05 October 2007 (05.10.2007)
1. A system for delivering satellite video signals for display on a monitor, comprising: a module comprising a multiswitch, the multiswitch selectively directing the satellite video signals to a plurality of outputs of the multiswitch; an interface for delivering the satellite video signals to at least one receiver; and a power inserter, coupled between the interface and the at least one receiver, for controlling the flow of signals between the multiswitch and the at least one receiver, wherein the power inserter continuously flows the satellite video signals to the at least one receiver while selectively flowing commands in a bidirectional manner between the module and the at least one receiver.
2. The system of claim 1, wherein the commands between the module and the at least one receiver are sent in a half-duplex system.
3. The system of claim 2, wherein commands from the at least one receiver to the module are signals that are used to command the multiswitch,
4. The system of claim 3, further comprising a second type of output of the multiswitch, wherein the second output is a legacy output that commands the multiswitch via a connection other than the single connection.
5. The system of claim 4, wherein the module further comprises a controller, coupled to the interface, for controlling signals entering and leaving the module.
6. The system of claim 5, wherein the satellite video signals and the commands between the module and the at least one receiver are sent on a single connection.

15. A system for selectively delivering satellite video signals received from a plurality of satellites to at least one receiver, comprising: a multiswitch, for selectively directing the satellite video signals based on which satellite of the plurality of satellites broadcast the satellite video signal to an output of the multiswitch; at least one tuner, coupled to the output of the multiswitch, for tuning to a specific portion of the satellite video signal, the specific portion of the satellite signal selected based on a command received from the receiver; at least one demodulator, coupled to the at least one tuner in a respective fashion, for demodulating the specific portion of the signal into a plurality of demodulated signals; an interface for delivering the plurality of demodulated signals to the receiver, wherein the plurality of demodulated signals are combined into a single combined signal and delivered to the receiver on a single output of the interface; and a power inserter, coupled between the interface and the at least one receiver, for controlling the flow of signals between the multiswitch and the at least one receiver, wherein the power inserter continuously flows the plurality of demodulated signals to the at least one receiver while selectively flowing commands in a bidirectional manner between the module and the at least one receiver.
16. The system of claim 15, further comprising a controller, coupled to the interface, for controlling signal flow between the interface and the receiver.
17. The system of claim 16, further comprising a second output of the multiswitch, wherein the second output is an output that commands the multiswitch via a connection other than the interface.
18. The system of claim 17, wherein a specific demodulated signal is selected based on the command received from the receiver.
