Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for restricting personalized ring-back tone (CRBT) service which is used to restrict the personalized ring-back tone when a calling party calls a called party in a fixed communication network. Said fixed communication network includes at least one originating exchange, at least one terminating exchange and at least one personalized ring-back tone platform, wherein said originating exchange sends a parameter to said terminating exchange, said parameter is defined by the specification of the operator and indicates that the calling party connected to said originating exchange has applied for the service of personalized ring-back tone restriction. This invention can restrict personalized ring-back tone service, thus for the person who dislikes the personalized ring-back tone, he or she will hear the normal ring when he or she calls the called party. This method has little effect on the prior art of personalized ring-back tone service, and no effect on the structure of the fixed communication network and thus is compatible with the existing network.

Description

Method for restricting personalized ring-back tone service
Technical field
The present invention relates to a method for restricting personalized ring-back tone service, particularly to a method for restricting personalized ring-back tone service in a fixed communication network.
Technical background
Colorful ring-back tone (CRBT) service, also called personalized ring-back tone service (for short, personalized ring), is a ring-back tone with special sound effects, which is set for the calling parties by said called party. During a telephone call, the calling party will hear the personalized ring-back tone set in the system by the called party instead of the monotonous ring-back tone "tut-tut" before the called party answers the call, wherein said personalized ring-back tone may be a piece of music, advertisement, or a voice message set by the called party.
Personalized ring-back tone service was first implemented in a mobile communication network, and then has gradually been used in fixed communication networks (for short, fixed network) . At present, there are several methods to implement the personalized ring-back tone service in a fixed communication network, and the typical methods include implementing the personalized ring-back tone service by means of the platform bridge control, switch bridge control (which is further divided into the switch bridge and the tandem bridge methods), and intellectual network methods.
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the method of implementing the personalized ring-back tone service by means of platform bridge control in the prior art. In the figure, 101 is a calling party (assumed to be A) switch, 102 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 103 is a tandem switch, and 104 is a personalized ring-back tone platform. The process of implementing the personalized ring-back tone service in Figure 1 is as follows:
(1) Calling party A in a fixed network sends the IAM message with a Q. Cat parameter and a called number (B-DN) to called party B, and the value of said Q. Cat parameter is F8 for a basic call;
(2) The switch to which party B belongs verifies whether party B has subscribed to the personalized ring-back tone service. If so, it adds a prefix access code of the personalized ring-back tone platform before the called number, and then routes the call to the personalized ring-back tone platform by sending an IAM message;
(3) The personalized ring-back tone platform cuts off the prefix access code, and initiates the call to the switch to which called party B belongs by sending an IAM message, wherein the Q. Cat parameter value in said IAM message is a special value defined by the operator;
(4) If party B is idle, the switch to which party B belongs returns an ACM message to the personalized ring-back tone platform;
(5) The personalized ring-back tone platform sends the ACM message to the switch to which party B belongs;
(6) The switch to which party B belongs sends the ACM message to the switch to which party A belongs, and the relay for party A to the personalized ring-back tone platform is then ready;
(7) The personalized ring-back tone platform locates the corresponding personalized ring-back tone according to the matching of calling number A and called number B, and plays the personalized ring-back tone to calling party A;
(8) When party B picks up, the switch to which party B belongs then sends the ANM message to the personalized ring- back tone platform;
(9) The personalized ring-back tone platform bridges the relay between calling party A and called party B; (10) The personalized ring-back tone platform sends the ANM message to the switch to which party B belongs;
(11) The switch to which party B belongs sends the ANM message to the switch to which party A belongs, and then the call is connected.
Figure 2 is a schematic view of the method of implementing personalized ring-back tone service by means of switch bridge control in the prior art. In the figure, 201 is a calling party (assumed to be A) switch, 202 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 203 is a tandem switch, and 204 is a personalized ring-back tone platform. The process implementing the personalized ring-back tone service in Figure 2 is as follows:
(1) Calling party A in a fixed network sends the IAM message with a Q. Cat parameter and a called number (B-DN) to called party B, and the value of said Q. Cat parameter is F8 for a basic call;
(2) If party B is idle, the switch to which party B belongs sends the ACM message to the switch to which party A belongs;
(3) The switch to which party B belongs verifies whether party B has subscribed to the personalized ring-back tone service. If so, it adds a prefix access code of the personalized ring-back tone platform before the called number, and then routes the call to the personalized ring-back tone platform by sending an IAM message;
(4) The personalized ring-back tone platform sends the ACM message to the switch to which party B belongs and then sends an ANM message to the switch to which party B belongs (this ANM message is optional) ;
(5) The personalized ring-back tone platform cuts off the prefix access code, and then locates the corresponding personalized ring-back tone according the matching of calling number A and called number B, and plays the personalized ring- back tone to calling party A;
(6) When party B picks up, the switch to which party B belongs sends the ANM message to the switch to which party A belongs; (7) The switch to which party B belongs sends the REL message to the personalized ring-back tone platform and ends the playing of the personalized ring-back tone, then the call is connected.
Figure 3 is a schematic view of the method of implementing the personalized ring-back tone service by means of an intellectual network in the prior art. In the figure, 301 is a calling party
(assumed to be A) switch, 302 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 303 is a service switch point (SSP) , 304 is a service control point (SCP) , and 305 is a personalized ring- back tone platform. The process of implementing the personalized ring-back tone service in Figure 3 is as follows:
(1) Calling party A in a fixed network sends the IAM message with a Q. Cat parameter and a called number (B-DN) to called party B, and the value of said Q. Cat parameter is F8 for a basic call;
(2) The switch to which party B belongs verifies whether party B has subscribed to personalized ring-back tone service. If so, it adds a prefix access code of the personalized ring-back tone platform before the called number, and then routes the call to SSP by sending an IAM message;
(3) The SSP triggers the intellectual service to the SCP by sending an initiate detect point (IDP) message;
(4) The SCP returns the Request Report BCSM (Basic Call State Module) event message (RRBE) to the SSP;
(5) When the SCP finds that party B is a personalized ring- back tone party, a "CONNECT" operation command carrying calling number A, called number B, and personalized ring-back tone platform routing code CRBT is sent to the SSP;
(6) The SSP initiates the call to the switch to which party B belongs by sending an IAM message, and the value of the Q. Cat parameter in said IAM message is a special value defined by the operator;
(7) If party B is idle, the switch to which party B belongs returns the ACM message to the SSP ;
(8) The SSP sends the ACM message to the switch to which party B belongs; (9) When the SSP finds that party B is idle, it establishes the connection to the personalized ring-back tone platform by sending an IAM message;
(10) The personalized ring-back tone platform sends the ACM message to the SSP;
(11) The switch to which party B belongs sends the ACM message to the switch to which party A belongs, and the relay for party A to the personalized ring-back tone platform is then ready;
(12) The personalized ring-back tone platform locates the corresponding personalized ring-back tone according to the matching of calling number A and called number B, and plays the ring-back tone for calling party A;
(13) When party B picks up, the switch to which party B belongs sends the ANM message to the SSP, and the SSP bridges the relay between calling party A and called party B;
(14) The SSP sends the ANM message to the switch to which called party B belongs;
(15) The SSP sends the REL message to the personalized ring- back tone platform, and ends the playing of the ring-back tone;
(16) The personalized ring-back tone platform returns the RLC message to the SSP;
(17) The switch to which party B belongs sends the ANM message to the switch to which party A belongs, and the call is then connected.
All the personalized ring-back tone services in the prior art belong to "B-side" services set by the called party
(Terminating Exchange) . The calling party (Originating Exchange) has no way to control the type of ring-back tone
( normal ring-back tone or personalized ring-back tone) that he or she will hear.
In fact, some users, as the calling party, have been accustomed to hearing normal ring-back tone when they call a called party, especially older users or some special users (e.g. users prefering quietness) , they prefer normal ring-back tone to personalized ring-back tone. Under some circumstances, personalized ring-back tone is used for advertisement messages or set for issuing illegal contents, which have adverse effects on calling parties who use the telephone regularly. Since the personalized ring-back tone is a service set by the called party, once the called party sets the personalized ring-back tone service, the calling party will have to hear the personalized ring-back tone set by the called party instead of the normal ring-back tone when he or she calls said called party.
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the main object of the present invention is to provide a method for restricting personalized ring-back tone service so that the personalized ring-back tone set by the called party is restricted, and thus the calling party can hear the normal ring-back tone when he or she calls the called party.
In order to achieve the aforementioned object, the present invention is implemented in detail as follows: a method for restricting personalized ring-back tone service, which is used to restrict the personalized ring-back tone when a calling party calls a called party in a fixed communication network, said fixed communication network includes at least one originating exchange, at least one terminating exchange and at least one personalized ring-back tone platform, wherein said originating exchange sends a parameter to said terminating exchange, said parameter is defined by the specification of the operator and indicates that said calling party connected to said originating exchange has applied for the personalized ring-back tone service restriction.
Wherein said originating exchange sends said parameter to said terminating exchange via an initial address message, and said parameter is a reserved value defined in International Telecommunication Union Recommendation Q.763. Wherein said parameter has the same value as that of the corresponding parameter sent from the terminating exchange to a tandem switch or a service switch point in said personalized ring-back tone service. Said terminating exchange sends said corresponding parameter value to said tandem switch or service switch point via an initial address message.
Said calling party activates said personalized ring-back tone service restriction either by registering at the switch to which his telephone number belongs, or by adding a number defined by the specification of the operator before the called number;
Thus, the method of restricting personalized ring-back tone service provided by the present invention has the following advantages and features:
(1) The solution of the present invention can restrict personalized ring-back tone service. Therefore, for parties who do not like hearing personalized ring-back tone, he or she will hear normal ring-back tone when he or she calls the called party.
(2) The solution of the present invention has little effect on the existing solution for personalized ring-back tone service in the prior art, and no effects on the structure of a fixed communication network, and thus it is compatible with existing networks .

Detailed description of the embodiments
Figure 4 is the first embodiment of the present invention, which provides a solution for restricting personalized ring- back tone implemented through platform bridge control shown in Figure 1. In Figure 4, 101 is a calling party (assumed to be A) switch, 102 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 103 is a tandem switch, and 104 is a personalized ring-back tone platform.
First, the operator in a fixed network, for example, China Network Communications Group Corporation (CNC), defines a Q. Cat parameter that indicates specially personalized ring-back tone service restriction in the specification issued thereof. Said Q. Cat parameter is a parameter defined in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Recommendation (also called specification) Q.763. The value range of said Q. Cat parameter is 0-255 (0-FF) defined in the ITU. Up until the present time, most values of the parameters in the aforementioned range have already been defined in the ITU (for example, the Q. Cat parameter value of a basic call in ISDN User Part (ISUP) criterion is F8), but there are still a number of parameter values that are reserved values. The Q. Cat value defined in the specification of the operator in a fixed network for restricting personalized ring-back tone service should be one of said reserved values, and said Q. Cat parameter value should be consistent with the Q. Cat parameter value carried in the IAM message, which is sent from the tandem switch or service switch point (SSP) to the switch to which called party belongs in the personalized ring-back tone service.
Secondly, if a fixed telephone user wants to subscribe to the personalized ring-back tone service restriction, said user first needs to go to the switch to which its telephone number belongs to enrol (or register) , and fill in the form for the personalized ring-back tone service restriction. Said user can employ personalized ring-back tone service restriction after he or she enrols.
When said user, as the calling party, calls a called party, the switch to which said calling party belongs first sends an initial address message (IAM) to the switch to which said called party belongs. According to the specification of CNC, the IAM message must carry a Q. Cat parameter and the telephone number of the called party. Since said calling party has already applied for the personalized ring-back tone service restriction, the Q. Cat parameter value in said IAM message is that defined in the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by the operator.
When the switch to which the called party belongs receives the IAM message sent by the switch to which the calling party belongs and detects that the Q. Cat parameter value carried in the IAM message is the same as the Q. Cat parameter value defined in the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by the operator, the switch to which said called party belongs does not send an IAM message to the tandem switch or service switch point, i.e. the signalling process is the telephone process for normal calling, and the calling party now hears a normal ring-back tone.
The calling party can also implement the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by adding a number before the called number rather than applying for said personalized ring-back tone service restriction by enrolling (registering) at the switch to which his telephone number belongs.
Figure 5 is the second embodiment of the present invention, which uses a solution for restricting the personalized ring- back tone service implemented through switch bridge control shown in Figure 2. In Figure 5, 201 is a calling party (assumed to be A) switch, 202 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 203 is a tandem switch, and 204 is a personalized ring- back tone platform.
First, in this embodiment, similar to the first step of the first embodiment, the operator in a fixed network defines a Q. Cat parameter that indicates specially personalized ring-back tone service restriction in the specification issued thereof, and said parameter value should be one of the reserved parameter values defined in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Recommendation Q.763.
Secondly, if a fixed telephone user wants to hear a normal ring-back tone when he or she calls, said calling party can restrict the the personalized ring-back tone service set by the called party by adding a special number before the called number. Said special number should also be defined by the specification of the operator.
When said user, as the calling party, calls a called party, the switch to which said calling party belongs first sends an initial address message (IAM) to the switch to which said called party belongs. Since the calling party has added a special number before the called number, the Q. Cat parameter value in said IAM message is the one defined in the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by the operator .
When the switch to which the called party belongs receives the IAM message sent by the switch to which the calling party belongs and detects that Q. Cat parameter value carried in the IAM message is the one defined in the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by the operator, then the switch to which the called party belongs does not send an IAM message to the tandem switch or service switch point, i.e. the signalling process is the telephone process of normal calling, and the calling party now hears a normal ring-back tone.
The aforementioned telephone user can also apply for the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by enrolling (registering) at the switch to which his telephone number belongs .
Figure 6 is the third embodiment of the present invention, which provides a solution for restricting personalized ring- back tone implemented through an intellectual network shown in Figure 3. In Figure 6, 301 is a calling party (assumed to be A) switch, 302 is a called party (assumed to be B) switch, 303 is a service switch point (SSP) , 304 is a service control point (SCP) , and 305 is a personalized ring-back tone platform.
First, in this embodiment, similar to the first step of aforementioned two embodiments, the operator in a fixed network defines a Q. Cat parameter that indicates specially personalized ring-back tone service restriction in the specification issued thereof, and said parameter value should be one of the reserved parameter values defined in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Recommendation Q.763.
Secondly, the calling party can use said personalized ring-back tone service restriction by enrolling at the switch to which his telephone number belongs; or by adding a special number before the called number to restrict the personalized ring tone set by the called party. Said special number should also be defined by the specification of the operator.
When said party, as the calling party, calls a called party, the switch to which said calling party belongs first sends an initial address message (IAM) to the switch to which the called party belongs. The IAM message must carry a Q. Cat parameter and the telephone number of the called party, wherein the Q. Cat parameter value is the one defined in the personalized ring-back tone service restriction by the operator. When the switch to which the called party belongs receives the IAM message with the aforementioned Q. Cat parameter sent by the switch to which the calling party belongs, then the switch to which said called party belongs does not send an IAM message to the tandem switch or service switch point, i.e. the signalling process is the telephone process of normal calling, and the calling party now hears a normal ring-back tone.
The aforementioned three embodiments describe the main processes of the present invention with respect to implementing personalized ring-back tone by means of platform bridge control, switch bridge control, and intellectual network respectively. Although the means for implementing personalized ring-back tone are not limited to the above three embodiments, the present invention can implement personalized ring-back tone service restriction in any other situations, and the details are omitted herein.
