Description

METHOD FOR VIRAL MARKETING TO PROMOTION PRODUCT AND SYSTEM FOR EXECUTING THE METHOD
Technical Field The present invention relates to a viral advertisement marketing method about a promotion product and a system for executing the method. More particularly, the present invention relates to a viral advertisement marketing method which can display an advertisement about a promotion product for a user of the webpage using a display advertisement (DA), receive wish data from the user to request the promotion product to be sent to another user, generate a viral advertisement message in response to the wish data, and transmit the viral advertisement message to the other user using a short message service (SMS) including an email or a callback Uniform Resource Locator (URL), and a system for executing the method.
Background Art
Viral advertisement marketing or virus advertisement marketing refers to a marketing technique which enables Internet users to promote a company or products of the company by propagating certain multimedia contents about the company or products using email or other Internet communication channels or media. The viral advertisement marketing is named as such since the advertisement may be distributed like a computer virus. Also, the viral advertisement marketing has been highlighted as a new Internet advertisement technique since the end of the year of 2000. Since the viral advertisement may be promoted to consumers without the company's direct participation, the viral advertisement is different from existing advertisement methods. Companies generally produce new and interesting contents, such as web animation and the like, to satisfy Internet users while following fashion, trends, and the like, and place the contents on Internet websites, and the like, for free. Through the above operation, the companies may include company names or products in the contents, thereby indirectly advertising the company names or the products. When Internet users read an interesting content, they generally transmit the content to other Internet users via emails or other media. Through repeating the above operation, marketing may be effectively performed. The viral advertisement marketing may be based on a content production technology, such as a web animation technology and the like. In this instance, a file size is comparatively small, and thus is playable in real time. Also, anyone who uses a related content production program may readily produce the file. Also, since the content may be produced in a simple way, promotion costs may be inexpensive.
FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of viral advertisement marketing according to a conventional art.
As described above, in the viral advertisement marketing, a company corresponding to an advertisement entity or an agency executing the viral advertisement marketing displays a content 101 on an Internet site, and the like. In this instance, the content 101 may be scrapped or downloaded by users accessing the content 101, and may be played on the same site or a different site. Also, the content 101 may be transmitted using an email or a mobile phone.
Also, a plurality of contents 102 played in the same site or the different site may be scrapped or downloaded by other users, or may be transmitted using an email or a mobile phone. Through the above operation, the plurality of contents 102 may be distributed to a large number of users. Also, a company name or a product included in the content 101 may be transferred to the larger number of users and thereby be promoted. However, in the viral advertisement marketing according to the conventional art, an inconvenient process of downloading the content 101 and transferring the downloaded content 101 to another user using an email or a mobile phone is needed to transfer the content 101.
Also, in the viral advertisement marketing, when the agency produces a content and executes marketing of the content, it may be difficult to identify how much the produced content has been distributed and promoted. Also, it is difficult to create a standard to compute a charge associated with the content, which is different from a banner advertisement or a keyword advertisement. Also, since there is no system to perform the viral advertisement marketing, it is difficult to develop a systematic advertisement product using the viral advertisement marketing.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention Reference will now be made in detail to embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to the like elements throughout. The embodiments are described below in order to explain the present invention by referring to the figures.
FIG. 2 illustrates a viral advertisement marketing system 201 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
The viral advertisement marketing system 201 may transmit a web page 204 including a display advertisement (DA) 203 to a user terminal 202 upon an access request from the user terminal 202. A user of the user terminal 202 may request another user to purchase a promotion product using the DA 203. The DA 203 is provided together with the web page 204.
The DA 203 may include a function of enabling the user to select the promotion product, a function of receiving content data, receiver data, and transmitter data, which are needed for purchasing the promotion product, and also enable the user to select a function of transmitting wish data to the viral advertisement marketing system 201. The wish data includes product data about the selected promotion product, the content data, the receiver data, and the transmitter data.
Specifically, when the user selects, using the function of the DA 203, the promotion product displayed on the DA 203 and enters the content data, the receiver data, and the transmitter data, a viral advertisement message about the promotion product is transferred to the other user over the viral advertisement marketing system 201. In this instance, the content data is text in which the user asks the other user to purchase the promotion product, the receiver data includes the other user's email address or mobile phone number, and the transmitter data includes the user's email address or mobile phone number.
Also, when the user finds an interesting advertisement content using the DA 203, the user may transfer the advertisement content to the other user using the DA 203. In this case, the user does not need to download the advertisement content, and transmit the downloaded advertisement content as an attachment file in an email.
The viral advertisement marketing system 201 generates a viral advertisement message 205, based on the wish data transmitted from the user terminal 202 using the DA 203. The viral advertisement marketing system 201 transmits the viral advertisement message to a mail server 206 or a short message service center (SMSC) 206. Specifically, when the transmitter data is an email address, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may transmit the viral advertisement message 205 to the mail server 206. Alternatively, when the transmitter data is a mobile phone number, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may transmit the viral advertisement message 205 to the SMSC 206. Through the above operation, the viral advertisement message 205 may be transferred to the other user.
The viral advertisement message 205 may provide a user terminal 207 of the other user with a link function to a purchase page 208 of the promotion product, a function of sending a replay to the transmitter of the viral advertisement message 205, and a function of retransmitting the viral advertisement message 205.
Also, the transferred viral advertisement message 205 may produce another advertising effect. Thus, a particular viral advertisement may be provided in the viral advertisement message 205 in order to measure a distribution degree. The distribution degree becomes a standard to compute a charge. Hereinafter, a method of performing viral advertisement marketing in the viral advertisement marketing system 201 will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. 3 through 8.
FIG. 3 is a flowchart illustrating a viral advertisement marketing method using a DA according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
In operation S301, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 generates wish data about a promotion product using the DA. The DA may be included in a web page to be displayed on a transmitter terminal, and thereby displayed on the transmitter terminal together with the web page, or may be transmitted to the transmitter terminal as an independent program code to provide product data, a promotion product selecting function, and a wish data generating function.
Operation S301 of generating the wish data will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. 4 through 6. In operation S302, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 generates a viral advertisement message based on the wish data. The viral advertisement message is a message reconstructing a content of the wish data and transferring the same to the transmitter. Therefore, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may provide a link function to a purchase page of the promotion product, which is requested by the transmitter that is a user of the transmitter terminal, to purchase the promotion product, provide a function of sending a reply to the transmitter, or provide a function of retransmitting the viral advertisement message to another user. Operation S303 of generating the viral advertisement message will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8. In operation S303, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 transmits the viral advertisement message based on receiver data that is included in the wish data. The viral advertisement message may be transferred to the receiver using an email or a short message service (SMS). In operation S301, the transmitter may select a different medium of transmitting the viral advertisement message based on the receiver data entered from the transmitter.
In operation S303, the viral advertisement message may include the SMS including an email or a callback URL. Also, operation S303 may include operations (not shown) of extracting a receiver's email address or mobile phone number from the receiver data, and transmitting the viral advertisement message to the receiver using the extracted email address or the mobile phone number. Operation S303 of transmitting the viral advertisement message will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 9.
In operation S304, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 computers a charge for the promotion product using viral advertisement marketing. The viral advertisement message may include a particular viral advertisement capable of measuring advertising effect about the promotion product, which may occur through transmission and retransmission of the viral advertisement message. The viral advertisement marketing system 201 may compute the charge for the promotion product based on the advertising effect. Operation S304 of computing the charge will be described in detail with reference to FIG. 10.
FIG. 4 is a flowchart illustrating a method of generating wish data according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 4, operations S401 through S404 may be included in operation S301 of generating wish data and thereby performed.

In this case, operation S401 may provide the product data about each of at least one promotion product using the DA. Specifically, the DA may include at least one product data about at least one promotion product.
In operation S402, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 provides a promotion product selecting function to the transmitter terminal using the DA. The promotion product selecting function is based on the product data. The promotion product selecting function may store product data about the promotion product, and generate and store a wish list of the product data when the at least one promotion product is selected. The promotion product is selected using a drag-and-drop event for the image or the text. In operation S403, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 provides a wish data generating function to the transmitter terminal using the DA. The wish data generating function may include a function of providing, to the transmitter terminal, a data input field for receiving the receiver data, the transmitter data, and the content data, and a transmission field for transmitting the wish data. Also, when the DA is included in the web page and thereby transmitted, and the transmitter logs into a website associated with the web page, the transmitter data may include the transmitter's email address or mobile phone number extracted from the website. Specifically, when the transmitter does not log into the website, the transmitter data may be directly entered from the transmitter. When the transmitter logs into the website, data about the transmitter stored in the website may be extracted and used. In operation S404, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 generates the wish data about the promotion product based on the wish data generating function. Here, the wish data may include 1) the product data selected by the promotion product selecting function, or a wish list of the product data, 2) the receiver data about a receiver of the viral advertisement message, 3) transmitter data about a transmitter of the transmitter terminal, and 4) content data about a content that the transmitter desires to deliver to the receiver.
Specifically, operation S301, including operations S401 through S404, to generate wish data may generate the wish data about the promotion product of an advertisement that is selected by the transmitter terminal from advertisements about the promotion product. The advertisements are displayed on the web page together with the DA.
FIG. 5 illustrates an example of a function of selecting a promotion product. As described above, a DA 501 may be included in a web page to be displayed on the transmitter terminal, and thereby displayed on the transmitter terminal together with the web page, or may be transmitted to the transmitter terminal as an independent program code to provide product data, a promotion product selecting function, and a wish data generating function.
In this case, the promotion product selecting function is to select the promotion product. As shown in FIG. 5, the DA 501 may include at least one advertisement 502 about the promotion product. The at least one advertisement 502 may be product data that are displayed using the text, the image, or the moving picture, described above with

Also, the DA 501 may receive the transmitter data about the transmitter.
When the transmitter logs into a website associated with the web page, the DA 501 may extract and use the transmitter's email address or mobile phone number from the website.
Also, when the transmitter does not log into the website, another field for receiving the transmitter data may be added to the fields 602 and 603, and directly receive the transmitter data from the transmitter.
Also, when the transmitter selects the wish data generating field 601, the DA 501 generates the wish data including the content data, the receiver data, the transmitter data, and the product data, and transmits the generated wish data to the viral advertisement marketing system 201 via the transmitter terminal.
FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a method of generating a viral advertisement message based on wish data according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 7, operations S701 through S703 may be included in operation S302 of generating the viral advertisement message described above with FIG.
3, and thereby performed.
In operation S701, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 reconstructs content data and product data based on a predetermined format and generates the viral advertisement message. The content data and the product data are included in the wish data. Also, the format may indicate a preset format to construct the content data and the product data in the viral advertisement message. In operation S702, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 adds an additional function and additional data to the viral advertisement message. The additional functions may include 1) a link function to a purchase page of the promotion product associated with the product data, 2) a reply mail sending function using transmitter data included in the wish data, and 3) a retransmission function of the viral advertisement message. Also, the additional data may include description data about the viral advertisement message and discount data about the promotion product.
In operation S703, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 provides a particular viral advertisement to the viral advertisement message. The particular viral advertisement functions to generate and transmit viral advertisement data associated with the link function and the retransmission function. Also, the viral advertisement data may include a number of movements to the purchase page using the link function and a number of retransmissions of the viral advertisement message using the retransmission function. FIG. 8 is an example of a viral advertisement message generated based on wish data. More particularly, FIG. 8 shows an example of a viral advertisement message 801 generated by a transmitter to request, using an email, a receiver to purchase a promotion product.
In this case, as shown in FIG. 8, a viral advertisement message 801 may include content data 802 that the transmitter desires to transmit to the receiver, and product data 803 of the promotion product selected by the transmitter.
Also, the viral advertisement message 801 may include an additional function 804. The additional function 804 may include a purchase function 805 using a link to a purchase page of the promotion product, a reply function 806 of sending a reply to the transmitter, and a retransmission function 807 of retransmitting the viral advertisement message 801 to another user.
Specifically, the purchase function 805 enables the receiver to be directly linked to the purchase page, with respect to the transmitter's request for purchase of the promotion product. Also, the retransmission function 807 may retransmit the viral advertisement message 801, based on the request, to another user to shift the responsibility for the request. Also, when the receiver likes the promotion product, the retransmission function 807 enables the receiver to generate another content data to request the other user to purchase the promotion product instead of the receiver, and retransmit the viral advertisement message 801.
A box 808 indicates that purchase of the promotion product may be promoted by offering a discount when the promotion product is purchased using the viral advertisement message 801. Specifically, the discount enables consumers to purchase the promotion product at a lower price whereby a company may obtain voluntary advertising effect from the consumers. Also, an agency performing viral advertising marketing for the company may make advertising revenues according to the advertising effect.
FIG. 9 illustrates an example of transmitting a viral advertisement message. When wish data 901 is received using a transmitter terminal, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may extract a receiver's email address or mobile phone number from receiver data 902 included in the wish data 901. In this case, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may generate the viral advertisement message as an email or an SMS, based on the email address or the mobile phone number. The viral advertisement marketing system 201 may transmit the viral advertisement message to a mail server 903 or an SMSC 904.
The viral advertisement message transmitted to the mail server 903 is displayed for the receiver accessing the mail server 903 using a receiver terminal 905. The receiver may directly access a web page 906 corresponding to a purchase page associated with product data, using the purchase function 805. As described above, the purchase function 805 is provided from the viral advertisement message, and the product data is included in the viral advertisement message. When the viral advertisement message is transmitted to the SMSC 904, the viral advertisement message may include a callback URL as an SMS that is generated based on the mobile phone number. Specifically, a receiver terminal 907 of a receiver that receives the SMS may directly access a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) page 908 which is a purchase page associated with the product data using the callback URL. FIG. 10 is a flowchart illustrating a method of computing a charge for a promotion product according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 10, operations SlOlO and S 1020 may be included in operation S304 of calculating the charge and thereby performed.
In operation SlOlO, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 measures advertising effect based on the viral advertisement data received from a particular viral advertisement. The viral advertisement message may include the particular viral advertisement. The particular viral advertisement generates and transmits viral advertisement data about a number of movements to a purchase page of the promotion product and a number of retransmissions of the viral advertisement message.
Also, the particular viral advertisement may generate and transmit viral advertisement data about the number of movements and the number of retransmissions occurring with the viral advertisement message. The viral advertisement message is self-cloned and retransmitted for each retransmission of the viral advertisement message. As shown in FIG. 10, operations SlOIl and S 1012 may be included in operation SlOlO and thereby performed.
In operation SlOIl, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 extracts the number of movements and the number of retransmissions from the viral advertisement data. Specifically, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may receive the viral advertisement data, which is generated and transmitted using the particular viral advertisement, and extract the number of movements and the number of retransmissions from the viral advertisement data. Thus, advertisement effect may be measured in operation S 1012.
In operation S 1012, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 adds a weight to each of the number of movements and the number of retransmissions, and measures the advertising effect as a numerical value. In this case, the number of movements may include a number of executions of the link function to the purchase page that is displayed for the transmitter of the viral advertisement message using the viral advertisement message. Also, the number of retransmissions may include a number of executions of the retransmission function that is displayed for the transmitter using the viral advertisement message.
In operation S 1020, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 computes the charge for the promotion product based on the advertising effect. For example, the number of movements may use a method of computing a charge for an advertisement based on a cost per click (CPC). The number of retransmissions may use a method of computing a charge for an advertisement based on a cost per mill (CPM).
FIG. 11 is an example of a method of computing a charge using a particular viral advertisement.
The particular viral advertisement is included in a viral advertisement message 1101. During a process in which the viral advertisement message 1101 is self-cloned and retransmitted, the particular viral advertisement is included in and retransmitted together with the viral advertisement message 1101. Specifically, a retransmitted viral advertisement message 1102 of the viral advertisement message 1101 also includes the particular viral advertisement. The particular viral advertisement is included in all the retransmitted viral advertisement messages. The particular viral advertisement generates viral advertisement data about the number of movements and the number of retransmissions occurring with all the viral advertisement messages, and transmits the generated viral advertisement data to the viral advertisement marketing system 201. The number of movements may indicate a link function in all the viral advertisement messages, described above with FIG. 7, or may indicate a number of movements to a purchase page 1103 using a purchase function described above with FIG. 8. The number of retransmissions may indicate a number of distributions of the viral advertisement message 1101 using the retransmission function, described above with FIGS. 7 and 8.
The number of movements and the number of retransmissions, which are transmitted to the viral advertisement marketing system 201 based on the viral advertisement data, are used as reference data to measure advertising effect by assigning a weight to each of the number of movements and the number of retransmissions. The number of retransmissions may be measured by assigning a different weight based on a distribution degree.
As described above with FIGS. 3 through 11, if using a viral advertisement marketing method using the viral advertisement marketing system 201, a DA provides a function of selecting product data which is a content of a promotion product, and a function of transmitting the product data to a desired user. Therefore, it is possible to perform viral advertisement marketing to transmit the content to the desired user in a simple and convenient way. Also, it is possible to identify how much product data has been distributed and promoted, based on a viral advertisement message including a particular viral advertisement, and create a standard to compute a charge associated with a content, thereby performing viral advertisement marketing of other companies about the promotion product and developing a systematic advertisement product in a website, and a system for executing the method.
Also, it is possible to construct a systematic system capable of performing viral advertisement marketing, that is, an overall process from display of a content to computation of a charge associated with the content. FIG. 12 is a block diagram illustrating an internal configuration of a viral advertisement marketing system 201 according to another exemplary embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 12, the viral advertisement marketing system 201 may include a wish data generating module 1210, a viral advertisement message generating module 1220, a viral advertisement message transmitting module 1230, and a charge computing module 1240.
The wish data generating module 1210 generates wish data about a promotion product using a DA. The DA may be included in a web page to be displayed on the transmitter terminal, and thereby displayed on the transmitter terminal together with the web page, or may be transmitted to the transmitter terminal as an independent program code to provide the product data, the promotion product selecting function, and the wish data generating function.
As shown in FIG. 12, the wish data generating module 1210 may include a product data providing module 1211, a promotion product selecting function providing module 1212, a wish data generating function providing module 1213, and a wish data generating module 1214.
The product data providing module 1211 provides product data about the promotion product to a transmitter terminal using the DA, in a form of any one of a text, an image, and a moving picture. The product data providing module 1211 may provide product data about each of at least one promotion product using the DA. The promotion product selecting function providing module 1212 provides a promotion product selecting function to the transmitter terminal using the DA. The promotion product selecting function is based on the product data. The promotion product selecting function may store product data about the promotion product, and generate and store a wish list of the product when the at least one promotion product is selected.
