Abstract
A cooling apparatus for cooling computer racks (1) comprises a cooling unit (2) between two computer racks (1); two cold aisles (3) on either side of the cooling unit (2) between the cooling unit (2) and the computer racks (1), and two hot aisles (4) on the opposite sides of the computer racks (1) to the cold aisle (3), wherein the apparatus is arranged such that chilled air generated by the cooling unit (2) passes into the cold aisles (3), flows through the racks (1) providing cooling and exits into the hot aisles (4). Alternatively, a cooling apparatus for cooling computer racks (1) comprises a cooling unit (2), a computer rack (1) and an enclosed cold aisle (3) for allowing passage of chilled air from the cooling unit (2) to the computer rack (1).
