- step S401 for an electronic coupon issue, a user provides user information including MIN, a name, a resident registration number, and a password for a user authentication to an issuer server through a terminal connected to POS system of a member shop, Mobile Internet for a mobile communication, or computer network environment.
- user information including MIN, a name, a resident registration number, and a password for a user authentication to an issuer server through a terminal connected to POS system of a member shop, Mobile Internet for a mobile communication, or computer network environment.
- the user having a UICC-ID chip card may submit an issue application to an agency of the mobile carrier or the issuer.
- the mobile carrier collects the issue applications submitted to its agency to deliver them to the electronic coupon issuer.
- step S402 the issuer server transmits MIN and a user's name to the relay center. If necessary, a resident registration number may be also transmitted.
- step S403 the relay center finds the mobile carrier using the MIN, and requests a user authentication and UICC-ID from the mobile carrier server.
- step S404 the mobile carrier server performs the user authentication, and verifies whether the user has a USIM chip (UICC-ID), whether the chip is available for a RF transmission, and whether the chip is a combination chip by checking a customer database using the MIN and the name transmitted from the relay center. If both data are matched, the mobile carrier server transmits a correct UICC-ID to the issuer server via the relay center. If both data are not matched, the mobile carrier server transmits an authentication failure message including a failure reason to the issuer server.
- UICC-ID USIM chip
- step S404 when the user authentication fails, the issuer server notifies the user that the min and the name are not matched with those of the database, and request the user to re-input the user information. In this case, the issuer server repeats the step S402 to S404 using the user information to be re-inputted.
- step S406 the issuer server generates a transaction ledger using the user information (e.g., MIN, a name, UICC-ID, a balance, etc.), issue information (product or card unique number) and UICC-ID provided from the mobile carrier.
- user information e.g., MIN, a name, UICC-ID, a balance, etc.

- step S407 the issuer server transmits the issue information (e.g., MIN, a name, an issuer, a valid period, etc.) of the electronic coupon to the relay center.
- issue information e.g., MIN, a name, an issuer, a valid period, etc.
- step S408 the relay center builds its own transaction ledger based on the issue information.
- step S409 the relay center notifies the user that the issue of the electronic coupon is completed. This notification is repeatedly performed until the user receives the notification.
- FIG. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a method of using an electronic coupon in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
- step S501 when the user purchases a product or a service at a member shop, the user may input an amount equal to the product or the service, and select a payment method and an issuer from a POS system.
- step S502 the POS system receives UICC-ID in a mobile communication terminal via a terminal connected with the POS system.
- step S503 the POS system of the member shop transmits data for approval including UICC-ID, an approved amount, a member shop ID to the selected issuer server.
- step S504 the issuer server verifies if UICC-ID from the POS system exists in its transaction ledger. If UICC-ID does not exist in the transaction ledger, it may correspond to the case where the user misrecognizes the electronic coupon issuer or where the electronic coupon is not issued to the user. Accordingly, the issuer server sends an error message to the POS system,
- step S505 if UICC-ID exists in the transaction ledger, the issuer server determines whether the member shop is an approvable member shop and whether the request amount is within an approvable balance. If the approval is impossible, the issuer server notifies the member shop and the user of a reason why the approval is impossible via the POS system. In this case, if the remaining balance on the ledger becomes zero by consumption or refund of the electronic coupon, the issuer server allows the user to receive correct issue information by transmitting the corresponding information to the relay center.
- the relay center may notify the user of a transaction completion message through a wireless communication network after the transaction is completed.
- step S506 the POS system sends an approval message including the remaining balance, etc. to the issuer.
- the issuer server reconstitutes the transaction ledger, and equalizes the transaction ledger with that of the relay center.
- the POS system issues a receipt including the remaining balance to the user, or notifies the user of the transaction completion, thereby ending the procedure of using the electronic coupon.
- the user may verify the issue and use information of the electronic coupon in a home page of the relay center, thereby preventing an unfair use of the electronic coupon and taking steps to recover the electronic coupon.
- FIG. 6 is a flowchart illustrating a method of vicariously issuing an electronic coupon by a relay center instead of issuer server.
- steps S601 to S605 are identical to the steps S401 to S405 in the FIG. 4.
- the issuer server transmits the authentication information to the relay center.
- the relay center constitutes the transaction ledger with the member shop information, the transaction amount, UICC-ID, etc. based on the authentication information and user information received from the relay center.
- the relay center sends the transaction ledger information to issuer server, and requests a validity verification.
- the issuer server investigates the validity of issuing, constitutes the transaction ledger with the transmitted ledger information, and equalizes the ledger information with the relay center.
- the relay center notifies the user of the message of the issue, thereby ending the procedure of vicarious issue.
- FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a procedure of presenting an electronic coupon to others in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
- a person having the electronic coupon may present his own electronic coupon to other person by getting access to the home page of the relay center through the Mobile Internet or a computing environment.
- the person having the electronic coupon inputs an electronic coupon ID number, a quantity, an amount, a receiver's name, a telephone number to give a gift to the other person.
- the process ends by displaying a message that the receiver's terminal is not a terminal capable of receiving the electronic coupon gift.
- step S702 when the other person has a mobile communication terminal capable of receiving the gift, the issuer server transmits the gift information to the relay center.
- step S703 the relay center transmits an arrival message of the electronic coupon to the gift receiver using call-back SMS.
- step S704 when the gift receiver sends a refusal message to the relay center, the relay center ends the process by sending SMS to the electronic coupon owner.
- step S705 if the gift receiver sends an approval message of receiving the electronic coupon gift to the relay center, the gift receiver gets connected to mobile web pages of the relay center.
- step S706 the relay center demands UICC-ID from the corresponding mobile carrier server.

METHOD FOR AUTHENTICATION USING UICC-ID OF
MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL, AND SYSTEM AND
METHOD FOR ELECTRIC COMMERCE USING THE SAME
Technical Field
[1] The present disclosure relates to a user authentication method using a mobile communication terminal, and in particular, to a user authentication method using a mobile communication terminal, and a system and a method of trading electronic cashes, electronic gift certificates, electronic coupons and tickets, etc. Background Art
[2] Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) refers to a chip card attachable to a mobile communication terminal such as a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) or a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM).
[3] UICC-ID is unique information for each UICC as an ID of SIM or USIM.
[4] UICC-ID may be used as identification information of a user authentication and an electronic commerce due to its uniqueness. Also, UICC-ID has an advantage of enhancing security and safety by preventing private information leakage because the user authentication and the electronic commerce are possible without universal identification information such as a resident registration number.
[5] A registration and a management of UICC-ID are performed by a mobile carrier
(e.g., a mobile communication company). Accordingly, when performing the user authentication or the electronic commerce of an electronic gift certificate, an electronic cash, etc. using UICC-ID, an issuer server (e.g., an electronic coupon issue company) of the electronic coupon receives UICC-ID from a mobile carrier server. That is, the issuer server needs to be directly connected to many mobile carrier servers to perform the electronic commerce through the user authentication.
[6] If a plurality of issuer servers and a plurality of mobile carrier servers are directly connected to each other as described in FIG. 1, N number of issuer servers and M number of mobile carrier severs may build M x N number of network connections between the issuer servers and the mobile carrier servers. This results in an increase of a modification frequency and a complexity of a system's configuration.
[7] In a transaction manner using a related art mobile communication terminal, a limitation of a memory space of SIM or USIM chip may cause an inconvenience in practical use because issue information of the electronic coupon is stored in a memory space of the SIM or USIM chip in the mobile communication terminal. Also, when an unexpected situation happens (e.g., a data loss), the user may suffer an inconvenience
that the user should directly remember information on, e.g., an electronic cash and a gift certificate stored in the chip to demand a reissue or a compensation relevant to the loss.
Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[8] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a user authentication method using UICC-ID and a method and a system for an electronic commerce using the same, which serve to build an electronic commerce environment using a relay center between an electronic coupon issuer server and a mobile carrier generating and managing identification information in an acquisition of the identification information for the user authentication from the issuer server.
[9] Another object of the present invention is to provide a user authentication method using UICC-ID and a method and a system for an electronic commerce using the same, which serve to allow the relay center to maintain the same transaction ledger as the issuer server, notify a user of the electronic commerce through a wireless communication network, e.g., a Short Message Service (SMS), and apply for a compensation and a data modification by enabling the user to verify the unexpected data loss in a homepage of the relay center.
[10] The user authentication is performed using UICC-ID at a point of the transaction.
Also, issue information of the electronic coupon is not directly stored in SIM or USIM in a user terminal. Accordingly, it is possible to independently perform the electronic commerce without a limitation of a memory size of SIM or USIM in the mobile communication terminal. Technical Solution
[11] To achieve these and other advantages and in accordance with the purposes of the present invention as embodied and broadly described herein, an electronic commerce system using an identifier stored in a mobile communication terminal in accordance with an aspect of the present invention includes: at least a mobile carrier server maintaining a second identifier stored in the mobile communication terminal; an issuer server receiving number of the terminal and/or a first identifier relevant to user's private information from the user of the mobile communication terminal, and issuing an electronic coupon after obtaining the corresponding second identifier, the issuer server reflecting the electronic coupon through an internal transaction ledger and using the second identifier as an user authentication information in a later electronic commerce; and a relay center receiving the number of the terminal and/or the first identifier from the issuer server, demanding the second identifier corresponding the number of the terminal and/or the first identifier from the mobile carrier server in
which the mobile communication terminal is registered, and relaying the second identifier provided from the mobile carrier server to the issuer server, where the mobile communication terminal requests for an electronic commerce approval by providing a terminal of a member shop with the second identifier stored in the mobile communication terminal.
[12] The first identifier may include at least one of a name, a resident registration number and a password of the user. Also, the second identifier may be Identification information of Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC-ID).
[13] The relay center may include: an authentication linked server relaying the first identifier and the second identifier corresponding thereto between the issuer server and the mobile carrier server; a transaction ledger server storing and the member; a web server linked with the transaction ledger server and providing the information on the electronic commerce to the user; and a wireless notification server linked with the transaction ledger server and notifying the user terminal if the information on the electronic commerce is generated and updated.
[14] To achieve these and other advantages and in accordance with the purposes of the present invention, an electronic commerce method using a mobile communication terminal in accordance with another aspect of the present invention includes: receiving a request of an electronic coupon issue from a user of the terminal; receiving number of the terminal and/or a first identifier relevant to user's private information from the user; transmitting the number of the terminal and/or the first identifier to a mobile carrier server through a relay center; receiving a second identifier corresponding to the number of the terminal and/or the first identifier and stored in the terminal from the mobile carrier server via the relay center; authenticating the user using the second identifier; generating a transaction ledger including the second identifier, issuing the electronic coupon, and reflecting the electronic coupon issue in the transaction ledger without sending the electronic coupon to the user terminal; and using the second identifier as an authentication information in use of the electronic coupon.
[15] The electronic commerce method further may include: receiving, by the relay center, information on the transaction ledger from an issuer server and generating a transaction ledger in the relay center using the information on the transaction ledger; equalizing, by the relay center, the transaction ledger of the relay center with the transaction ledger of the issuer; wirelessly notifying, by the relay center, the user of an electronic coupon issue or transaction approval; and operating, by the relay center, a web sever providing the electronic commerce information of the user on the basis of its own transaction ledger in the relay center.
[16] To achieve these and other advantages and in accordance with the purposes of the present invention, an electronic commerce method using a mobile communication
terminal in accordance with another aspect of the present invention includes: receiving, by a terminal of a member shop, a second identifier basically embedded into the mobile communication terminal, irrelevant to user's private or financial information, and relevant to a communication function of the mobile communication terminal; transmitting, by the terminal of the member shop, the second identifier and an approval request of an electronic commerce to an issuer server; verifying, by the issuer server, a transaction ledger using the second identifier, and determining whether or not to approve the requested electronic commerce; and transmitting, by the issuer server, a result of the determination to the terminal of the member shop. [17] The electronic commerce method further may include: reflecting, by the issuer server, the electronic commerce in the transaction ledger in accordance with the result of the determination; and equalizing the transaction ledger with a relay center.
Advantageous Effects
[18] In accordance with an electronic commerce system and an electronic commerce method of the present invention, a user authentication is performed using a relay center without a direct network connection between an issuer and a mobile carrier. Accordingly, multiple direct connections between a plurality of issuer servers and a plurality of mobile carrier servers are not necessary. As the issuer server and the mobile server are directly connected only with the relay center, a configuration and an addition of the electronic commerce system get easier.
[19] Also, because the relay center maintains the same transaction ledger about the electronic commerce as the issuer server, the relay center can notify the user of information relevant to the electronic commerce through a wireless communication network. If an error or a data loss occurs in the electronic commerce, the user can easily verify his transaction information in a web page managed by the relay center and demand a correction of the incorrect information.
[20] The user authentication and the electronic commerce authentication process are performed using SIM or USIM attached to the mobile communication terminal. Also, an electronic commerce log of the electronic coupon is stored in each issuer server. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to store issue information in a memory space of the mobile communication terminal, thereby solving a limitation of the electronic commerce in accordance with a memory capacity. [28] Hereinafter, specific embodiments will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[29] A user authentication method using UICC-ID of a mobile communication terminal, and electric commerce system and method using the same in accordance with exemplary embodiments will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Meanwhile, although user registration and authentication system and method use UICC-ID as an identifier in an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, UICC-ID may be extended to other equivalent identifiers within the scope and the spirit of the present invention.
[30] FIG. 2 is a block diagram of an electronic commerce system in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
[31] UICC 101 such as SIM or USIM is attachable to a mobile communication terminal.
The UICC 101 exchanges a unique identifier (e.g., UICC-ID, etc.) of the mobile communication terminal with a terminal (e.g., a dongle) connected to a Point of Sale (POS) system 102 of a member shop in a wireless/wired communication manner such as Radio Frequency (RF), Infrared Ray (IR) or serical communication, etc.
[32] An issuer server 110 may issue an electronic coupon in accordance with a user request via Mobile Internet, Internet, or the POS system 102 of the member shop. In this case, the issuer server 110 receives user information such as a Mobile Identification Number (MIN), a name, a resident registration number and a password. The issuer server 110 performs a user authentication by sending the user information to a mobile carrier server 130 via the relay center 120 and receiving UICC-ID corresponding to the user information. When the electronic coupon is used, the issuer server 110 receives information such as the user information, UICC-ID and a used balance from POS system 102 of the member shop, and determines if the transaction is ap- provable or not. If the transaction is approvable, the issuer server 110 reconstitutes a
transaction ledger by reflecting a result of the transaction. If the transaction ledger is reconstituted, the transaction ledger is equalized with a transaction ledger in the relay center 120.
[33] The mobile carrier server 130 generates, maintains and manages UICC-ID. Also, when the mobile carrier server 130 receives the user information from an issuer server 110 via the relay center 120, the mobile carrier server 130 sends UICC-ID corresponding to the user information to the issuer server 110 via the relay center 120. The issuer server 110 can perform the user authentication using UICC-ID.
[34] The relay center 120 receives the user information from issuer server 110 to find the mobile carrier where the user terminal is registered. Next, the relay center 120 sends the user information to the mobile carrier server 130, receives UICC-ID corresponding to the user terminal from the mobile carrier server 130, and relays UICC-ID to the issuer server 110. When the electronic coupon is issued or used, similarly to the issuer server 110, the relay center 120 also maintains a transaction ledger, and notifies the user of the transaction ledger through a wireless communication network, e.g., a text message service. Such a relay center 120 includes an authentication linked server 121, a transaction ledger management server 122, a web server 123 and a wireless notification server 124. The authentication linked server 121 is connected with a plurality of issuer servers 110 and a plurality of mobile carrier servers 130. When the authentication linked server 121 receives the user information from the issuer server 110, the authentication linked server 121 sends the user information to the mobile carrier server 130, receives UICC-ID corresponding to the user information from the mobile carrier server 130, and sends UICC-ID to the issuer server 110. The transaction ledger management server 122 maintains the transaction ledger including information on the electronic coupon such as an issue information, a transaction information and a member information. Also, when the transaction ledger is modified, the transaction ledger management server 122 maintains correct transaction information by equalizing the transaction ledger with that of the issuer server 110. The web server 123 is linked with the transaction ledger management server 122. The user may connect to the web server 123 through Internet or Mobile Internet. The user may verify the transaction and issue information of the electronic coupon in a home page of the web server 123, and demand a correction of the information if any data is incorrect or missing. The wireless notification server 124 is linked with the transaction ledger management server 122, and wirelessly notifies the mobile communication terminal 100 when the electronic coupon is issued or used.
[35] FIG. 3 is a block diagram illustrating a method of issuing an electronic coupon in accordance with an exemplary embodiment. FIG. 4 is a flowchart illustrating a procedure of issuing an electronic coupon in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
[36] Hereinafter, the method of issuing the electronic coupon will be fully described with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4.
[37] In step S401, for an electronic coupon issue, a user provides user information including MIN, a name, a resident registration number, and a password for a user authentication to an issuer server through a terminal connected to POS system of a member shop, Mobile Internet for a mobile communication, or computer network environment.
[38] Otherwise, the user having a UICC-ID chip card may submit an issue application to an agency of the mobile carrier or the issuer. The mobile carrier collects the issue applications submitted to its agency to deliver them to the electronic coupon issuer.
[39] In step S402, the issuer server transmits MIN and a user's name to the relay center. If necessary, a resident registration number may be also transmitted.
[40] In step S403, the relay center finds the mobile carrier using the MIN, and requests a user authentication and UICC-ID from the mobile carrier server.
[41] In step S404, the mobile carrier server performs the user authentication, and verifies whether the user has a USIM chip (UICC-ID), whether the chip is available for a RF transmission, and whether the chip is a combination chip by checking a customer database using the MIN and the name transmitted from the relay center. If both data are matched, the mobile carrier server transmits a correct UICC-ID to the issuer server via the relay center. If both data are not matched, the mobile carrier server transmits an authentication failure message including a failure reason to the issuer server.
[42] In the step S404, when the user authentication fails, the issuer server notifies the user that the min and the name are not matched with those of the database, and request the user to re-input the user information. In this case, the issuer server repeats the step S402 to S404 using the user information to be re-inputted.
[43] If the user authentication is successful, in step S406, the issuer server generates a transaction ledger using the user information (e.g., MIN, a name, UICC-ID, a balance, etc.), issue information (product or card unique number) and UICC-ID provided from the mobile carrier.
[44] In step S407, the issuer server transmits the issue information (e.g., MIN, a name, an issuer, a valid period, etc.) of the electronic coupon to the relay center.
[45] In step S408, the relay center builds its own transaction ledger based on the issue information.
[46] In step S409, the relay center notifies the user that the issue of the electronic coupon is completed. This notification is repeatedly performed until the user receives the notification.
[47] FIG. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a method of using an electronic coupon in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
[48] In step S501, when the user purchases a product or a service at a member shop, the user may input an amount equal to the product or the service, and select a payment method and an issuer from a POS system.
[49] In step S502, the POS system receives UICC-ID in a mobile communication terminal via a terminal connected with the POS system.
[50] In step S503, the POS system of the member shop transmits data for approval including UICC-ID, an approved amount, a member shop ID to the selected issuer server.
[51] In step S504, the issuer server verifies if UICC-ID from the POS system exists in its transaction ledger. If UICC-ID does not exist in the transaction ledger, it may correspond to the case where the user misrecognizes the electronic coupon issuer or where the electronic coupon is not issued to the user. Accordingly, the issuer server sends an error message to the POS system,
[52] In step S505, if UICC-ID exists in the transaction ledger, the issuer server determines whether the member shop is an approvable member shop and whether the request amount is within an approvable balance.
[53] The relay center may notify the user of a transaction completion message through a wireless communication network after the transaction is completed.
[54] When the transaction is approvable, in step S506, the POS system sends an approval message including the remaining balance, etc. to the issuer. In this case, if a password for use is set, a user authentication step using the password may be added. In step S 507, the issuer server reconstitutes the transaction ledger, and equalizes the transaction ledger with that of the relay center.
[55] The POS system issues a receipt including the remaining balance to the user, or notifies the user of the transaction completion, thereby ending the procedure of using the electronic coupon.
[56] If the user loses the mobile communication terminal, the user may verify the issue and use information of the electronic coupon in a home page of the relay center, thereby preventing an unfair use of the electronic coupon and taking steps to recover the electronic coupon.
[57] FIG. 6 is a flowchart illustrating a method of vicariously issuing an electronic coupon by a relay center instead of issuer server.
[58] In this case, steps S601 to S605 are identical to the steps S401 to S405 in the FIG. 4.
In step 606, the issuer server transmits the authentication information to the relay center. In step 607, the relay center constitutes the transaction ledger with the member shop information, the transaction amount, UICC-ID, etc. based on the authentication information and user information received from the relay center. In step 608, the relay center sends the transaction ledger information to issuer server, and requests a validity verification. In step 609, the issuer server investigates the validity of issuing, constitutes the transaction ledger with the transmitted ledger information, and equalizes the ledger information with the relay center. Similarly to the issue procedure in FIG. 4, the relay center notifies the user of the message of the issue, thereby ending the procedure of vicarious issue.
[59] FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating a procedure of presenting an electronic coupon to others in accordance with an exemplary embodiment.
[60] In step S701, a person having the electronic coupon may present his own electronic coupon to other person by getting access to the home page of the relay center through the Mobile Internet or a computing environment. The person having the electronic coupon inputs an electronic coupon ID number, a quantity, an amount, a receiver's name, a telephone number to give a gift to the other person.
[61] If the other person does not have a USIM chip in his mobile communication terminal, the process ends by displaying a message that the receiver's terminal is not a terminal capable of receiving the electronic coupon gift.
[62] In step S702, when the other person has a mobile communication terminal capable of receiving the gift, the issuer server transmits the gift information to the relay center. In step S703, the relay center transmits an arrival message of the electronic coupon to the gift receiver using call-back SMS.
[63] In step S704, when the gift receiver sends a refusal message to the relay center, the relay center ends the process by sending SMS to the electronic coupon owner.
[64] In step S705, if the gift receiver sends an approval message of receiving the electronic coupon gift to the relay center, the gift receiver gets connected to mobile web pages of the relay center.
[65] In step S706, the relay center demands UICC-ID from the corresponding mobile carrier server.
[66] In step S707, the relay center determines whether or not to input a password of the gift receiver. In step S708, if it is necessary to input the password, the gift receiver inputs the password. In step S709, the relay center notifies the issuer of information on the electronic coupon, the gift receiver, and the gift sender.
[67] In step S710, the issuer server completes the transaction by reconstituting ledger information using the information on the electronic coupon, the gift receiver, and the gift sender, and transmits the modified ledger information to the relay center. The relay
center receives the modified ledger information, modifies the transaction ledger and equalizes the ledger information with that of the issuer server. If necessary, the relay center transmits a SMS message notifying that the gift delivery has been completed to the gift sender.
[68] In this specification, electronic coupon includes an electronic gift certificate, an electronic cash, an electronic identification card and other substitues. And member shop can be any kind of facility which treat electronic gift certificate, an electronic cash, an electronic identification card. Also, although the exemplary embodiments are described using SMS as a wireless notification method, SMS is mere an example. Therefore, various notification methods such as Multimedia Messaging System (MMS), and Enhanced Message Service (EMS) can be applied.
[69] Also the terminal transmitting data between the POS system of the member shop and the mobile communication terminal can be replaced with various devices capable of transmitting data in an non-contact manner such as an RF manner terminal and an IR manner terminal using various frequencies such as 13.56MH, 900MHz, etc.
[70] Furthermore, in the exemplary embodiment, UICC-ID is designated as identification information. However, the configuration of the present invention is not limited thereto, and it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that alternative forms may be applied as identification information.
[71] As the present invention may be embodied in several forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof, it should also be understood that the- described embodiments are not limited by any of the details of the foregoing description, unless otherwise specified, but rather should be construed broadly within its spirit and scope as defined in the appended claims, and therefore all changes and modifications that fall within the metes and bounds of the claims, or equivalents of such metes and bounds are therefore intended to be embraced by the appended claims.
